If you're in the market for a Rolex as an American, consider the exchange rate and the state taxes…read moreyou would pay depending on where you were to buy them same watch at home.
Using the example of the watch I bought in Mexico, the price was $600 USD more in Mexico than on the US website but the US site is not factoring in taxes on top of the retail price. The $600 difference in Mexico included the 16% IVA, of which tourists are allowed to claim back 8.9%. So in other words, that same watch that cost $600 USD more in Mexico actually cost $150 USD less than the pre-tax US retail price when you factor in the 8.9% Mexican sales tax refund.
If you're wondering why a Mexican Rolex branch is charging USD, they all do. I'm sure the same is true in other countries as well.
I had a great experience at this location and was in and out in under one hour.
