My wife just had an incredibly rude and obnoxious interaction with this doctor over the phone. She was seeking a housecall for her elderly mother, who lives alone but is mobile, cognizant, and able to take care of herself and answer the door. When the doctor learned these facts he rudely stated he was not interested "in giving podiatry services to a 92 year old senior, that he "gets these kind of calls all the time," and specifically cited speaking with my wife long distance was a problem. He also cited the lack of a healthcare assistant in the home as a problem, despite the fact my wife asserted her mother did not require in-home assistance. He did not give her time to speak further after his declaration. I understand he may have history with challenging circumstances regarding elderly care and the involvement of distant relatives, and everybody has a bad day on occasion, but during this interaction he was short, rude, and unprofessional. read more

This man should not even be allowed to practice any sort of medicine! His office is filthy and apparently he can not afford a receptionist. Plus, he wants to keep your credit card on file! I ended up at a real Dr office that is clean. I heard bad things about this Dr after walking out of his dirty office. I would not bring a dog here!! read more

What a joke this place is! This man should no longer have his medical license. Extremely rude to my mother over the phone should have been a red flag. When we get to the office and we are filling out the first time Patient paper work he rudely questions us on why it was taking us so long to do 4 pages of paper work (mind you it was 10 mins of being in his office when he said that). The room was filthy. Dirty rusty tools in a bowl. My mom didn't want the tools being used to on my skin so she had asked him if it was sanitary? I went to see Dr. Velotti for what I suspected was Plantar Fasciitis in both feet. I had been in some pain for a few days thinking it would take care of itself. I have never had this before so I assumed it was similar to a small sprain and I'd recover in a few days. It got worse with each day and I couldn't ignore it anymore and was thrilled to get an appointment first thing the next morning with Dr. Velotti. He was sitting at the reception desk and asked me for my insurance card, ID and CC#. He at no time asked me what the problem was. Regardless, I provided all 3. He took the information, wrote it down and handed me a Statement. The Statement had my CC information at the top and blank lines for my printed name, signature and date. It was a Statement that I was agreeing to pay the sum of, BALANCE OF ACCOUNT, nothing referencing insurance or any dollar amount even though there was a $ in front of the blank line where he wrote BALANCE OF ACCOUNT. I added a blurb, stating that I was authorizing my co-pay and any unpaid balance after processing through my insurance company. I handed him the statement with my blurb and printed name, signature and date. He quickly informed me that he didn't write that on the form and asked me why I changed the form. I informed him that my blurb, as I read it back to him, was what I was authorizing on this date. He informed ME that it is HIS FORM, HIS PRACTICE, and things are done HIS WAY. He went on to state that there are certain people he is comfortable dealing with and I am NOT one of them. I kindly asked for my documents back and I left without even taking off a shoe. The person I was with was STUNNED! What type of DOCTOR does that? Imagine the level of care I would have received if that is his customer service level. AVOID THE DISAPPOINTMENT! read more

Today, I had a podiatry appointment at Thomas Luis Velotti's office in Elkton, MD that went sour. When I arrived, the office was in total disarray. The floor behind the desk was full of papers and trash and papers were piled up on the counters and desk. It appeared as if his assistant quit and he was trying to manage his practice on his own. He was at the desk typing on his phone when I arrived. He never looked up; he just said I'll be right with you. After he put his phone away, he informed me that he needed a copy of my insurance card and a copy of my credit card to keep on file incase my insurance deductible was higher than indicated. I gave him my insurance card but was hesitant about giving him my credit card. He said that it was policy to keep the card on file and in a condescending manner; he said he was not going to make me do anything that I didn't want to do. I gave him the credit card and he proceeded to go through the papers on the counter to find the appropriate registration forms. He went on to explain that Obamacare destroyed the healthcare system for common people and it forced some people's fees to increase. I quickly stated that I was not affected. After a couple minutes of rummaging through papers, he stepped over the papers on the floor and walked over to explain the forms. I was still a little concerned with my card being on file and asked if he could just call my insurance company to verify my copayment and deductible and he said that's impossible. I said I didn't feel comfortable leaving my card information then he quickly dismissed me and gave me my card back. I stated that his office was too disorganized for me to leave my credit card information. He got very hostile and began to say very sternly, Miss, miss, miss... (as to say, how dare you talk to me that way) As I walked out the door, I continued to say that he needed to get an assistant because the office was disorderly and unprofessional. When I got to my car, he came out of his office and started yelling, who do you think you are! I said I'm a paying customer and he said very loudly, FUCK YOU! I said that's real professional and that I would be reporting his actions to my insurance company. He walked back into his office. When I initially made my appointment, he answered the phone and although I informed him that I did not need a referral, he insisted that I get one before he made an appointment. I called my insurance to verify what I already knew and called him back. He was rude on the phone and I had a suspicion that he thought I was some unemployed welfare recipient. Horrible doctor. Would give him a zero if I could. He refused to call my insurance to see if a very needed procedure was covered. I called him in about a week to ask him if he called my insurance like he told me HE WOULD. And he goes no not at this time. Then continued to exclaimme that I had very limited insurance and then hung up on me when I asked him what I should do! He was the only provider in my area. He made me come in twice. Once just too "talk" when all I wanted was to schedule a time to come back in a month like I WAS TOLD. and he goes oh do u wanna come in tomorrow? You can come in tomorrow? I said sir I'm just trying to schedule my monthly follow up like you told me to do. He goes I'll schedule you for tomorrow ok bye bye now. Like???? What the??? This man clearly ONLY wanted my money to rack up bills with my insurance company. and in the end resolved nothing. Plz do not go to this man. He has a horrible attitude and no matter how nice you are to him he'll be sure if you have a disagreement with him to hang up on you. DO NOT GO HERE!! YOU WILL REGRET IT. horrible man with a bad attitude and he has no receptionist making it clear that he is just impossible to work with as well as to talk to. Though I can't say he didn't warn me, he did say that he had really bad reviews on Google so he removed himself from it. Guess he forgot about Yelp. Though he is a fossil and probably can't figure it out and no receptionist want to work with him to show him. ahh well. read more

I went to see Dr Velotti about 2 years ago for a very infected ingrown toenail. When I arrived he was the only one there. I agree with the other reviewer, that he pushed to have the credit card on file and it felt shady. He took me back to the room to look at my toe and the room was filthy. When the doctor bent down to look at my toe he literally had someone else's toenail in his hair. I felt like I was at a podiatrist chop shop. I had put off having my toe looked at for too long and I was in excruciating pain so I decided to make the best of it. It was the worst and most painful experience. It occurred to me through the pain that if something went wrong there was no one here to help me. Afterword the doctor kept telling me stories of how patients couldn't handle that he did not have an office assistant. It all felt so surreal and all the red flags were flashing that this was not right. I just smiled and continue to hear the stories waiting to get out. I don't even know to this day if it was legal for him to be alone in the room with me, a female. It was truly the worst doctor experience ever. read more
