Gameloft puts out phone app games. Some of the ones that I play are a version of the Oregon Trail…read moreand Monster Life. The games are addicting in their own right. So four stars for that. They make me keep coming back. I do not like how they progress though. Gameloft games in order to progress in the game sometimes you have to do micropayments from your credit, debit card in order to progress. Gameloft is especially sneaky about this because the characters you are offered are deliberately weaker than the characters you are up against. Off goes another micropayment to keep on going. Monster Life is especially guilty of this. You can obtain the characters that are whooping your butt but it is not so much a micropayment by that point. Some of the strongest characters in Monster Life is a boar and a blue dragon. You cannot unlock these by clearing levels. You have to pay for them with "crystals". If you have next to zero crystals and you want the boar or the blue dragon you may be paying up to $50 to $100.00 with real time money! Completely absurd. It is disappointing that you cannot unlock all of the characters based on your skill compared to how much money you have in your bank account. I fully realize that lots of app games do the micropayment thing. Angry Birds does it but in this case it EXPEDITES your progress in the game rather than stopping you in the game until you do a payment to progress further. It all gets very frustrating.
