It's almost embarrassing how many Dewey sweatshirts I have from Vavala's - but that didn't stop me from buying two more this week haha. They have the best clothing and I live in their sweatshirts year round. Prices are decent and they have really great sales. Don't sleep on their hats either. I have about 4 from here. This was a hard one to write. We were in the area for a week long corona-cation as so call it. We needed a place to go that was not in our house. So we rented a house a few houses from the beach and did work and school work from there. The weather turned out to be fairly decent a few days that we could head to the beach. The kites the kids had were a hit so we needed to get string for the kites we had. I searched a few stores and came up with nothing. Then we found this store. Parking it definitely tight. It makes me wonder what it is like for them during a busy season. They were not fully opened yet but willing to take me in to purchase string. They were getting ready for the season when I was there. I ended up with two spools of string. At the time it was a husband and wife. The wife checked me out. But, as she did that she realized I had notice neither of them were wearing a mask. I did not mention anything but, I guess my eyes said otherwise. She said, "it's ok we have both been vaccinated and we are good to not wear one. So no worries." Um. No. That's all I thought. I walked out of there and m mind just kinda ran from there. It just left a bad taste in my mouth. So that's why 4/5. Everyone handles this while covid thing in a way they want to. This store IS as good as it gets. Sure, they have a little of everything--suntan lotion, chairs/umbrellas, beach toys for the kids, etc. But it's the clothing that keeps people coming back. This store has, by far, the best clothing in town. Not just the highest quality, but something for everyone. Classic "Deweys", t-shirts/sweats, cover-ups, windbreakers, rainwear and so much more. Fond memories of this place as a kid, when the senior Mr. Vavala ran it. We visited Dewey every summer, and I loved to spend what little money I had in this shop. Everything you could need for the beach - the plastic buckets with little shovels attached, suntan lotion, and trashy beach reads. Just perfect. read more

Great little store with all kinds of things for you to use/wear while you are there..and things to bring back home..all at a very fair price. We stopped in here everyday for something while we stayed in Dewey. read more

I rate this MINUS 1 star! We had been in this store next to the awesome WOODY's before when a nice lady and her dog and a younger boy helped us and we bought Dewey sweatshirts, shorts and boogie boards, on our first evening there!! Later on in the week we decided that we really wanted to get t-shirts that said Dewey on them, so a few days later we returned to buy them and not even two minutes into being in the store; the man behind the counter yelled at me for pulling out a shirt and looking at it ( I had folded it an put it back!) He was just horrible and even threatened us (in front of our boys) that he would "take things to the next level!" I have no idea what that meant but the guy clearly had issues and was exceptionally rude and just awful for nothing! Don't go here EVER, especially if you want to be able to look at what you want to buy before it is purchased! He was MEAN! spend your money elsewhere! read more
