Vapiano has two locations in Barcelona, this location is their "Gran Via" location and is on Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes, right by Passeig de Gràcia.
I visited here twice during my August 2024 trip to the city, once for food, and once just for a quick drink and both times, they presented a good standard of service.
This store retains the original Vapiano concept - you get your card, order at the kitchen with the chef and can watch them cook - this is the process I like most about Vapiano and has unfortunately ceased in the UK ever since COVID, where they have changed it to QR code ordering.
The menu is pretty good and has a nice selection of pizza, pasta, salads and risottos, it was a little limited for gluten-free with only risotto available, but again, one thing I liked was they had multiple risottos on the menu, again compared to just the one we had in the UK, it was nice to get a choice.
Prices were competitive compared to other businesses nearby, I did find the drinks to be a little overpriced though but the food was reasonable.
I decided to go for the Chicken Alfredo risotto, with a peach vanilla iced tea, it was super tasty and fresh, and the chicken was not only tasty but a generous portion, it was tasty and seasoned well, and the cheese on the top and chilli also made a nice touch. I did have to take a little bit of the cheese off, as it had started to melt and stick together, but it still added a nice flavour to the risotto.
I don't find the seating too comfortable here - it's bar-style seating which is typical in Vapiano, so there is no back support. The bar/cafe area at the front of the restaurant is much more comfortable and has more cushioned seats where you can relax/get some work done.
I've often found Vapiano's to either be very good or very bad in a certain country and there is no in-between, based on my experience here it looks like Vapiano in Spain is more of a good thing than bad. 4* read more
