I went upon recommendation of a friend because the Montreal winter was wrecking havoc on my skin. I was so impressed with the experience and the results. I'm so glad I decided to go to Alina. Although it's a bit of a trek out to Verdun from downtown Montreal is was so worth it. Alina is located in a small salon just down the street from the Metro station - its so unassuming you might even miss it. Her prices are so reasonable compared to some of the places in central Montreal. I guess that's one of the benefits of being located in Verdun as opposed to downtown. Alina is fantastic. She takes her time and she is very professional and knowledgable. I didn't know a lot about my skin type prior to visiting Alina but she does such a wonderful job of explaining ones skin type, the products she's using and the process she goes through for the facial. The products she uses are wonderful. After a couple of professional facials with Alina, I decided to purchase some of the products for home use. Alina suggested which products would be good for my skin but she in no way pressured me to purchase them (which is sometimes happen when you go for a facial). The products are so affordable for the quality and I swear by them now (although they are much harder to find now that I'm no longer in the Montreal area). I have now left Montreal and I have not been able to find someone who does facials that I am as happy with as I was with Alina. It's a shame because her facials were so good at such a reasonable price. I can't justify spending what some of the places charge now so I've decided to discontinue my monthly facials which is unfortunate because my skin is not nearly in the same great condition it was when I was going to Alina.

The Vic Park gym and Vic Park Medispa are now separate entities from the Annie Young spa. This is a full service spa with manicure/pedicure, facials, massage, waxing, makeup and hair salon. It's a beautiful bright open space on the third floor with lots of natural light. They have a great selection of makeup, hair and skin care products available to buy, but there is never any pressure to buy anything which I really like. The staff are outstanding, they are all very good at what they do, I have never had a bad service here. I haven't tried everything but I have had manicures, pedicures, makeup and hair done here. Everyone is incredibly pleasant, and the co-owner Charlene is often around and is a real delight to talk to. A minor thing - if you are here for a manicure in the winter, wear a sweater, the stations are next to the big windows and can get chilly. The prices are on the higher side but in line with what similar salons will charge and given the quality of the treatments are definitely worth the money. I had a reflexology massage with Mirela and she had such a comforting and relaxing energy and not to mention extremely skillful and knowledgeable about her profession. I had a Swedish massage with Nadiya and let me tell you if I lived in your country I would come see this lady for a massage every week; best massage of my life, she is very skillful. I had a brow tint with Steph C and she did a great job and then as we all know right after a brow tint it can be very intense especially for someone with my pale complexion so Francine very kindly offered to touch up my make up so that I didn't feel too self conscious to spend the rest of the day at the mall :) This establishment is well run and have hired a lovely and professionally accommodating staff.

Remove your boots at the front if they are wet and put on the slippers provided. Upon walking in, first impressions are the cleanliness of the place and the newest drying machines. This is the first place in this city which I have seen that has the drying machines inserted into the furniture. It looks better aesthetically, rather than having machines out on top of the tables. There are two rows in back and one bar type section for drying nails in the front. There are about 6-8 chairs for pedicures against the wall. The furniture is white which makes the space look larger. The placement of the nail polish is nicely organized and placed in white shelves which light up. There are two people working, the man is named Sonny. He gave me a courtesy card, so after 5 manicures you get one free. They are both very friendly and easy to talk to. If you need help choosing a color, don't be shy to ask for recommendations! The TV plays top 40 videos which you can sing along to since the words appear at the bottom from time to time. They do waxing and ears piercings as well. Always best to make an appointment ahead of time for any of the services. Today I got my shellac removed and then got a shellac manicure. They are the first nail salon in this city which I've been to that uses the butterfly finger clips which hold the cotton in place while it soaks the nail polish in acetone. It replaces the use of aluminum foil. Brilliant! They have pink ones which can be re-used. What I really like is the arm rest which helps you so you don't need to strain your wrist from holding them up. My color today is called " got the blues for red ". Everything took about one hour and I was extremely pleased with the service. I'll be back soon! They take cash, debit and credit card. There is a $0.50 service charge if you use the machine.
