I first visited Valley Hindu Temple 2 years ago. Why? Because my friend Joseph wanted me to explore...And explore, I did. The statues in colorful clothing, the priest and people in Indian traditional clothing, the bell, etc, all made me feel like I was visiting India without a passport. I had to go back again 2 weeks ago to do my Anthropology 121 fieldwork project. I had to witness a ceremony from a religion other than my own. Oh, wow. I couldn't stop taking pictures. They were having a Bhoomi-Pujan ceremony for the new construction of the temple on Sunday, April 6. I asked the priest if I could watch the ceremony and take notes for my project, and he was more than helpful. He welcomes everyone to the temple. His name is Vidur. There are also books and newspaper available for free. Most books are in English, so you get to study Hinduism. There's also a book titled "The Spiritual Science of Sex Element." Interesting and useful to both Hindus and non-Hindus. The temple is a big dome as of this moment. When the construction is finished, it will be a bigger and better temple. I assume there will be more rooms for the gods. As Joseph informed me, each god is supposed to have his/her own room. Some gods are husbands and wives, and each couple is supposed to share a room. I believe Joseph completely because he has been to temples in India, and I have not. Similar to Wat Thai of Los Angeles, there's Sunday school. Young children come to this temple to learn about their culture and religion. It is understandable because the Hindu chanting is not translated into English. I'm happy for the kids and parents that they're going to have better classrooms in the future. Now they still have to attend their class in the dome which doesn't have separate rooms for different classes. If you're interested in donating to the temple, feel free to speak to any one of the priests. You can have your or your loved one's name permanently engraved on one of the golden leaves on their tree if you donate at a certain amount of money. The remodeling and expansion of Valley Hindu Temple is really important to the local Indians and Indian-Americans. The remaining events of April are as follows: Friday, April 18 - Mahavir Jayanti 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm (sponsored by Mukesh Jain and family) Sunday, April 20 - Hanuman Jayanti/Sunder kand 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm (sponsored by Surendra and Subhash Jain and family) Saturday, April 27 - Bhajan 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm (sponsored by Mayur and Kamini Patel and family) Do wear appropriate clothing when visiting the temple. :)

The ladies who lead the satsang were very nice, kind, approachable, and welcoming. I felt really comfortable and happy to be there despite it being my first time for satsang. There were teachings shared by the guru that I really enjoyed: He talked about how constantly reviewing the lessons/teachings in our minds and also putting it to practice in our daily lives is essential for our spiritual growth. I also enjoyed the kirtan chanting and singing, puja, and arti as well. Through all these practices during the satsang, I really felt the love, devotion, and spiritual connection amongst those in the room. Although I have practiced Kirtan before, the singing via Hindi language was a little difficult for me. But, I liked and appreciate that they had a book with English translation to go with the Kirtan. Everyone looked really happy to be there and I loved the energy so much! Also, their altar of Krishna and Radha is so beautiful! In addition, I bought a book called The Philosophy of Divine Love and I'm looking forward to reading it All in all, I'm happy that I found this place. And I'm looking forward to visiting again! 10/10

Top 5 for most beautiful places in So. Cal. Arrived at 8:50am and was greeted by the gate guard. He…read moregave us a map, info, and guided us towards parking. There are plenty of parking spots for free. Entered the visitor center and was given a rundown by employee. Proceeded to the temple, which is the most incredible thing I've seen. It felt like we were transported out of Cali. You place your shoes on a shoe rack before proceeding up the stairs. The temple was beyond words. No phones, talking, hats or shoes allowed inside. Took the elevator to basement, where we walked through a museum before exiting back to the shoe rack. Went back to the visitor center, where we enjoyed browsing the gift store and cafe. There is an amazing selection of snacks. The experience was 10/10.

My…read morefriends and I made the trip to Chino Hills to visit the Sonic Speed Cafe that was coming to an end in May, so we finally bit the bullet and made the trip over, but knowing it was pretty small I looked up other things to do in the area and this temple popped up! We made the mistake of following Google Maps' directions and it led us to a gate that was closed. Not being familiar with the location, we decided to just park on the street and walk until we found an open gate in the scorching sun that day. That was a mistake, although I suppose I appreciate the exercise. If you find gates closed, just drive around the venue until you find an open one. There's plentiful parking in the venue and it's free! Security will give you a sheet with a list of things not to do. FYI, there's a rule of no backpacks, but specifically this is in regards to large ones. I panicked a little bit because I always just have a small backpack on me in lieu of a purse, but the kind lady at check-in explained that it was fine. They allow photos of the outside of the temple, but no photos of the interior. Shame, but I completely understand. I really highly recommend visiting this place if you get the chance. This is by far the most beautiful and insanely detailed architectural temple I've seen in Socal. The interior was absolutely breathtaking. If I'm ever in the area again I'd stop by just to see it and take anyone else I know to see it.
