I got not even a hint of housing in 3 months I waited. I hired a social worker from outside of St. Mary's and I was brutally thrown out of "the program". I will add pictures soon but I couldn't not tell you about this gem in our city. Youth under 18 get free entrance and it is only $10 a month for everyone else. At times Oasis Church also conducts Bible studies there so if your lucky you can catch one of those too! There is no place in our city for our youth, until Oasis City Center was established. Please check this place out, it is a safe, friendly, fun place for youth (12-18) to hang out off the streets and a gym for those of us looking to work out. I'm self-supporting by my own income all of the time up until this week and if you off days where my income did not align with a bill. I'm a woman with poor credit who lives a Christian lifestyle my fundamentals are. I have the capability to advocate for myself I can speak in a manner that gets my words across and I can communicate my needs, however there have been days in my medical journey or my mental health journey where I could not communicate my needs to the hospital I could not communicate my needs to social work I could not communicate my needs prior to learning about what they were. The reason I am so openly willing to share this information is because my experience here at this space is that as a woman who can understand what's going on around her and can use her words to ask for what she needs I am still unable to receive a safe situation based on protocol. I'm not a woman who's experienced homelessness for years or been an addiction or run the streets so I'm a woman exiting my home to the space in an emergency crisis situation, for women who have been made to jump through hoops for years to receive basic necessities I cannot imagine how they are treated and the situations they deal with if they do not have the words to respond appropriately or the connections to reach out to safely. Never in my life have I felt so disrespected or physically demeaned in a professional setting outside of the county jail on an occasion when I was there improperly . There is nowhere to appropriately send this message so that is why it is public because I would rather say with my name or stay with my voice what is wrong in a situation then leave it be for others who are more vulnerable at risk than my own self. Being displaced for my means and my home and having poor credit and no financial support does not mean I lose my respect card I've been coming here for a period of 6 to 9 months while supporting myself in temporary housing without the DHA this emergency crisis situation does not a lot staff permission to put me in my place or teach me a lesson for there is none for them to teach me and they do not know my history. I believe it is a lack of continued education or a lack of proper training lack of understanding or maybe you burn out maybe it is a lack of funding and a lack of staff. I have never asked to use an additional service outside of my qualifications and that is exactly what it is a place like this it is a service to the community and the members of the community. Also my experience thus far has been a lot of assumption based treatment. As an adult who is not on any probation parole no stipulation no CPS and no criminal charges pending I do expect to be treated as an honest woman which is how I present in my community and how I am with my loved ones as well as professionally

They use Houghton-Mifflin curriculum and do super cute art projects. They teach pre-k children how to write and totally get them prepared for Kindergarten. The graduation at the end of the year is really cute and they even make each child a portfolio binder of their work, art, and pictures of memories shared with friends. You can tell the teachers enjoy what they do. All meals and snacks are provided which is also a plus and helpful for busy parents.

Absolutely no consideration for my time. I came in for an orientation and Randy, the person that was supposed to be conducting it, casually walked in 35 minutes late to a 45 minute appointment. No "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" or "Thank you for your patience". But they want to charge a fee if YOU are late. If there are other agencies available to you, please consider them. Unless one of your favorite pastimes is having your time wasted.
