I recently went to a different car shop in late March to get my head gaskets replaced for an oil…read moreleak in my 07 Subaru Impreza. After it was "fixed", my car started to make all sorts of noises and the AC worked intermittently. I brought up the issues to the mechanic's attention since I was planning to drive across country. He futzed around with my car and essentially disregarded my concerns, and then assured me multiple times that my car was safe to drive across country. Since the car shop came at the recommendation of a friend, I listened to their advice and decided to proceed with my trip. Well, no more than TWO hours into my cross country road trip, my AC stopped working completely and I noticed the temperature gauge was rising pretty rapidly into the red zone. I quickly got off the highway and searched for a car shop that was open on a Saturday afternoon and found Martocci Automotive. I walked into the shop, nearly in tears, and met Tommy. I explained to him what had just happened and about the sounds I heard after getting my head gaskets replaced, and he listened and didn't try to shoo me away even though they were near closing time. He told me what he thought could be happening, and walked me through exactly what he was going to do and what he was anticipating based on what I was telling him. Long story short, he spent several hours (way past business hours) ruling things in/out and not only showed me everything that he was doing but also explained it to me in laymen's terms. He discovered that the original shop had not changed the thermostat when they did the head gasket job, but there were two small leaks around the head gaskets. Needless to say, Tommy fixed my car and even talked to the original car shop about the problem so that I could recoup some of the repair costs. He gave me tips on how to properly maintain my car, what the anticipated fees were, and sent me off with some supplies for my trip. I have to say that Tommy has restored my faith in mechanics. He's honest, he will genuinely listen to your concerns, and he won't try to scam you if you're a woman. You can tell that he loves what he does and that he cares about his clients and the quality of his work based on his willingness to listen, and his willingness to go above and beyond his call of duty, and his willingness to stand by his work. He is a rockstar and I'm so grateful that my yelp search led me to him. If I could give this shop a million stars, I would.

TL;DR Bad communication. Bad business practices. I do not recommend…read more Our (my spouse and my own) experiences in the last year and a half or so with this garage have been absolutely horrendous. We have gone to this garage for YEARS, and while they seemed to be doing great work in the beginning, in the last eighteen months, quality has absolutely plummeted. Three hour wait times on oil changes, two day waits for new tires (when we had already had an appointment), and un-returned calls have become the normal, everyday here. Communication between staff appears terrible. When you DO manage to catch someone on the phone, they have no idea about anything, or you get conflicting stories. Last year we brought one of our cars in for new tires. When we got the car back, it was shaking so badly that we had to immediately take it back to the garage, where we learned that they hadn't balanced the tires after putting them on. Last autumn, I brought my car in for new front brakes. When I got the car back (2 days later), something sounded loose, but I was assured it was fine. I drive to work, stop at a stop light, and suddenly a loud clanging sound goes off. My car is grinding horribly, I had to pull over, get towed back home (1.5 hours), and drop it off at the mechanic. They told me that some other part had sheared off, but it happened in the same spot where the brakes had been repaired. They'd had that wheel off and should have seen it. We wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. My spouse brought his car in recently and had a specific list of things to look at. Those things were to check the brakes, check a coolant leak (we were worried about the heating core), and an oil change. What we got was a bill for almost $800.00. My spouse walked into the office and the mechanic said, "We saw your check engine light on, saw it was an O2 sensor, and fixed it for you." That O2 sensor has been bad for YEARS and they NEVER TOUCHED IT. The worst part is, they didn't tell him that it was a problem and THEY DIDN'T ASK ABOUT THE REPAIR. They just did it, and it cost $400.00 in parts and labor. When my spouse asked about the coolant leak, THEY HADN'T EVEN CHECKED IT. They threw some sealant in and said it should be fine. This was after having the car for almost three days. Since then, we have gone to a different, far more trusted mechanic, and have been shown a number of the issues, some so obvious that we're not sure how they were missed. I don't know if something happened with the owners. I don't know if they've hired poor quality mechanics, or they're just overbooked, this was extremely unprofessional. They don't return calls. They don't communicate, and apparently, they do repairs that you don't need or want, to the tune of 100s of dollars. No, I would not recommend them.
