The only reason I even knew about this city/area was because my dad raved about how beautiful it was and honestly it did not disappoint. Getting here was pretty easy. 30-40 minutes from Palma. I'd note that while driving to this part was easy for the most part, there's a lot of narrow one car streets you might drive down, with pedestrians on both sides of you, that was the only stressful part but once I adjusted, it was all good. We parked our car in a parking garage, and was able to walk around the entire port in a few hours with a stop for lunch and drinks. There's tons of food options that line the streets, so definitely do some research on where to eat but we did enjoy El Sabor which we found not touristy, great tasting food at an affordable price. The views along the port are absolutely stunning. When you think of all the pretty spots that get shown in videos of Europe, this is definitely one of those spots.

Just about 40 minutes by car north of the Palma airport with easy access by taxi or rental car. Beautiful boutique hotels in addition to lovely residences built up into the mountains that overlook the small but picturesque port. The main promenade extends nearly the entire way around the port and had numerous lovely restaurants, bars, shops, etc. Multiple vendors available for fun water activities. We personally rented a small boat for a couple hours at sunset (late in the summer months ~7pm) and toured around the Balearic Sea and visited the small island off the coast. Must do this!! Upon arrival there is a lot for cars to park and two entrances on the right and left. Take the right stones stairs to the small souvenir shop where you purchase your tickets for the tour. They only accept cash or debit card. They also have a restaurant/cafe that serve drinks and small bites if you're waiting for a bit before your tour with over 13 kitties that live onsite for you to play with! They are extremely friendly and allows you to pet them. They also had restrooms at the top to the right of the staircase. The cave tour itself was very interesting and has so much history. The tour isn't as formal as others I've been on, but our tour guide's family has owned it for so long that she knew all the details. She toured a group of us in English and answered all questions thrown at her. It is slippery inside so wear proper shoes. Also, wear a hood or something to cover your head if you need because water will drip on you throughout the tour. Definitely worth visiting the caves in Mallorca and learning about the history of it all.

It was slightly chilly... just a little…read moretoo cool for the beach so we hopped in our rental car and enjoyed the scenic drive to the caves. So glad we did. They were simply stunning! First you buy your ticket and then wait for the next tour group to go through. They break it down into manageable groups to guide you through the caves and not overcrowd them. Being off season now, it wasn't very busy. Parking was easy and our group was a nice mix of friendly folks. The guide speaks several languages and will repeat each section in the languages represented in the group. It can be hard to hear in the caves if you are further back, so if her/his presentation is important to your experience, be sure to stay closer to the front. One should also know that there are a lot of stairs and dim lighting. This may not be the best excursion for someone that is mobility challenged. We brought my sister's 6 month old but had him in a chest harness. He loved the music and light show but the coolness of the caves compounded with the dim lighting sent him right to sleep for the remainder of the tour. As for what you'll see, just wow. So many variations of structures from large to small. The detail is astounding! The scale is sometimes overwhelming. Having been to other cave complexes/caverns, these do not disappoint. It's well worth the visit and a perfect outing for a cloudy day. Side note, while you're waiting for your tour or when you're done, spend some time along the wall looking down toward the sea. You may be lucky and spot the Wild Mallorcan Goat! We saw two about 20 feet away from us but would have missed them if we didn't look straight down.

This was my favorite tourist spot in Mallorca because it is completely unique to the region. Just remember to wear the appropriate attire when walking through the cave (no heels, someone in our group suffered). It is also not handicap friendly. Someone also brought a small dog with them and it was super annoying because it kept barking. Yes, this place is dark and scary so dont be THAT person.

In the evening, it's surprisingly busy with families, strollers, live music and people selling balloons and pashminas. On a weekend night, there was a decently high police presence but I did not see nearly enough concrete planters or barricades that might prevent someone from doing something extremely stupid. Barcelona's tragedy is fresh in my mind. Watch yours possessions. Big crowds, lots of tourists, there are going to be pick pockets.

There is also a covered tepidarium which is no longer functional but is at least tourable. A video on loop explains the history of the baths in English and other languages, It's an interesting exhibit that's worth a half hour of your time at least, and it's hard to go wrong with a €2.50 entrance fee.
