Time to paid the bill and he quoted me over 200.00. I told the technician that I was quoted 159.00. He said because it was a front loader it was 189.00 plus tax. I feel that I was taken advantage of because I am a women and a senior citizen. I will never call or do business with Marc's appliances again. I don't like being cheated.

My experience was classic bait and switch. Ordered a 48" range online at an excellent (but not…read moreunique) price, website claimed it was in stock and that I would need to pick it up at their West Hartford warehouse. Got a confirmation E-mail stating order would be "processed once payment was confirmed" (odd, since CC payments are generally automated these days). Next day, I got what appeared to be an automated E-mail (no name or phone number, DoNotReply sender) stating that their "policy" was that I would need to come to their store in person to confirm identity & credit card, and that the item was a special order (not in stock after all, I guess!). Since it's a 4-hour drive each way, going there twice defeats the purpose of an online order... When I called to try to clear things up, "Jack" told me the item was not in stock and that there appeared to be a pricing error (more alarm bells start up in my head). After consulting with his manager, he did call me back, to tell me that the part number is not on the Kitchenaid site, so they can't even order it, and they don't have it in stock. I just went back on their site, and they still list that exact part number listed (KFID948SJP), but at a much, much higher price, of course. When I expressed my displeasure and asked to speak to a manger, it went to voice mail. The only excuse offered was "the website is pretty automated". I get that mistakes happen, but reputable stores make some effort to make it right with the customer. A retail store is responsible for their advertised pricing.

Proceeded to talk to customer service on the phone in the parking lot for 2 hours and they told me to go back in the store and talk to the manager. After about 20 minutes of online and In store managers talking to each other the In store manager said that he would just prosess the refund if I hung up on the online one so I did and then he made me wait at the store counter for 15 minutes while he whent in his office and talked to the other employees, came out and said I can't do anything I'm sorry. So now I am left with a $400 paperweight and no options left if you ever choose Best Buy use online.

My latest experience was to purchase both a ballast and T12 lightbulbs. I'm not afraid to ask for help and say I don't know something. I didn't even have to wait, someone came over and offered to help me. He told me where I could find ballasts and even said they are giving them away. He tried to first find me something on clearance as he wanted to save me money. When the one I was looking for was not there in clearance, he me the right one, which was about $18. I was looking for LED lights, but he convinced me that this might not be a good fit, today, because they were new and have not come down in price. This light is at the bottom of my stairs and won't be used often so I'll give it a few more months before I address LED lights again. What he gave me was the ability to get my bottom of the stairs lights back, not just a product. Home Depot does it well and that's why this is my home store for hardware.

HOWEVER... delivery was scheduled... the driver called at 11:45 to tell us they would be there in 20 minutes. At 12:00 I received a text stating "they could not complete our delivery" and someone would call to reschedule. WHAT?? Well apparently, due to a storm, there was a tree down on a street in our neighborhood (not ours) and the drivers chose not to detour the ONE MINUTE it would have taken them to go around the block. They just called 15 minutes earlier... they couldn't call me back??? I immediately called the delivery number they gave me and was told the drivers could NOT turn around, and the next delivery date was several days out. I went above and beyond to prepare for this delivery... even putting the old refrigerator right by the door for them. The drivers must be in the business of losing money for the company... after this debacle we immediately cancelled the order and purchased elsewhere.

So u have a bad…read moreexperience, your upset and now determine that this is a 1 star business off that one most likely unfortunate experience. Its a shame for both parties you the customer and the business. Lets say there are 4 techs doing 5 calls a day. That's over 5k calls a year, of course repeat customers, repair trips after diag. So maybe 2500 new customers a year (× 25yrs) Most people don't care or think about a review especially if things go smooth, when things go sideways though, again your upset so lets post that 1 star because you were wronged and that must be the status quo. For sure there are times 1star is deserved and I wont open the can of worms about the multitude of factors that can affect a service call again from both sides. I still hold fast to the idea that most people do not even think about posting. Here on yelp there are 108 at the time of this post. That's 1 week of calls (modest numbers btw). In closing, taking a repair to the finish line is exactly what this small company strives for everyday. Fortune-500 companies absolutely trust them with outsource repairs. If those companies were getting more flak than silence or praise they would be dropped in a heartbeat. I have worked for large and small companies, personally I try and support these small ones best I can and believe this place is a survivor still giving excellent service and satisfaction.

Follow-up is essential, particularly if a Fortune 500 company outsources the repair of its products. I won't complain about the employees because you get what you pay for, and I am sure they are overworked and underpaid. I wish the owner would address the root of the issues at this business...and yes, they make the poor receptionist be the go-between. TL;DR_Edit: One customer commented on the lack of star ratings and that this business wouldn't be around for 25 years if they were so bad. Over time, it is possible that, service has deteriorated and one cannot discount the underwhelming experience that people have had. If there were one or two that were negative, one can argue that they were outliers but the outliers are the few good reviews and they all pertain to a guy named Dan. Perhaps he should be the gold standard and the rest should emulate him.
