The room was cleaned every other day. Even the dishes were washed. 4.5/5 Room Comfortable and spacious. King size bed and little pull out couch. Wish you could stream on the TV rather then log into apps, I forgot my passwords. 4/5 Pool Pool yes no jacuzzi. Nice view of the mountains. It is heated even though it is hot outside you can take a dip any time well during Pool hours. 4.5/5 Gym/Laundry Yes you can work out while your clothes gets washed. They have machines for walking or cycling. As well as free weights and wire machines (don't know the name). Laundry has instructions on the wall. Overall a relaxing stay away from major streets you actually get to chill out by the pool. Next time I'm in town I'll be sure to check out Homewood. Psalm 47:8, God bless

The property is in a convenient location close to food options--though you will likely need a car to get around to restaurants and attractions. We stayed in a parking lot-facing room and found the noise to be very minimal. There was occasional hallway noise, but it really didn't impact our stay. The room itself was well stocked with towels and toiletries, and the bed and pillows were comfortable. It also had a fridge that kept our water bottles nice and cold overnight, plus a microwave that we didn't end up using. Breakfast was very good with plenty of options--potatoes, yogurt, cereals, oatmeal, toast, bagels, muffins, fresh fruit, and cut fruit. The waffle maker was a fun touch. They also had juices, coffee, and tea, and overall the breakfast spread was well stocked and we were very pleased with the quality and variety. Overall, this was a comfortable, clean, and easy stay with good amenities and solid value for the area--we would stay here again when visiting the area.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear this is an exceptionally well-maintained property. The grounds are pristine, with beautifully curated desert landscaping--clean lines, sculptural cacti, and a classic Palm Springs aesthetic that feels both serene and intentional. The level of cleanliness throughout the property was outstanding--everything felt fresh, polished, and meticulously cared for. Our room was equally impressive--we especially loved the large stand-up shower and the abundance of natural light, which made the space feel bright, open, and relaxing. A special thank you to Adam and his incredible staff, who made our stay truly memorable. Their attention to detail, warmth, and professionalism delivered a seamless, first-class experience from start to finish. The daily breakfast and lunch, included with our stay, were excellent--consistently flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. And the afternoon popsicles by the pool were the perfect finishing touch--simple, refreshing, and a great reflection of the property's attention to guest experience. This is hospitality done right. We will absolutely be returning. Bryan T. Halda & Abraham Hernandez-Lopez Miami, Florida

We checked in late on Friday night at 9:45pm and the automatic doors were already locked, despite a sign saying they are locked at 10pm. Not really a big deal (just noteworthy) since the front desk quickly buzzed us in after ringing the bell. Check-in was efficient, albeit a bit cold. I wouldn't say it wasn't welcoming, but it certainly was goal oriented. Room keys, parking pass, wifi code. All that. Our room was nicely appointed- king bed, kitchenette, flatware, silverware, etc. If you wanted to cook a small meal, you easily could. Walls are a bit on the thinner side, but the fan from the a/c provided enough white noise so we were able to sleep. Their breakfast buffet runs from 7:30-10:30am. People were very covid conscious and kept their distance. Plenty of eating areas to chose from- outside by the pool, inside dining area, or even your room. So, the pros of this place- short version: Location (super quiet and tucked away in a suburban area) Mountain views from the room Well appointed room Firepits Plenty of parking Now the cons: No hot tub (for as nice as their outdoor area is, not having a hot tub would be a reason to explore other lodging options in Cathedral City) Later check out was a whole 30 minutes later than the original checkout time. Housekeeping didn't know we had a late checkout and knocked on our door at 11:25am. Not really a big deal but I wish there was better communication with between staff members. Four stars

Called 3 days before our stay to reserve a pet friendly room, they told me it would be a $125 pet fee. The property changed management along with the fees. She said I needed to take it up with Expedia. (It has been updated) We checked in on Christmas Eve, the lady was hostile & unwelcoming. My questions were absurd to her & she let me know it. I avoided her during my stay. Our suite was different from the photos, we had no counter seating or table, only a desk. The carpet was dirty, my white socks showed it when I walked around. (Pet friendly room should be steam cleaned especially for the $125 fee) bed & linen were okay, the TV isn't smart. (No Netflix) Breakfast was good, nice selection, & variety. The line at the waffle station is always long, they could use an attendant. The heated pool was nice, the view is beautiful. But they need lighting around the pool, especially when it gets dark at 4pm. We loved the firepit outside, honestly we spent all Christmas Eve by the fire. The fitness center was not clean, we found animal feces & left. Second day we noticed a horrible smell in the hallway, not sure, maybe a backed up toilet? We made the best of it, most of the staff was helpful & friendly. Management needs to make improvements especially if they want to charge more fees. (Parking fee $10 per night, Jan 1st)

You won't find prices under $500. With that in mind it should be luxury. There's nothing luxury here. It's fine, it's clean, it's nice. First the staff, everyone is great. Very friendly, helpful, informative. So no problems there. So I think it's the management and the operator of the hotel. Inside the rooms, even after a recent renovation, it's just fine. There's nothing noticeable and there's nothing I'll think about or mention as a great part of the room. Everything is fine. During conferences or events, they may close certain parts of the hotel to other guests. That happened to me but didn't affect my impression of the hotel. I did speak with front desk to get some fees waived due to facilities being closed to non-conference guests. The other thing is with this resort fees, there's nothing worth any value included. So they advertise fitness facility and internet. That is basic and should be included in the rate, not resort fee. If you want to use the sauna in the spa, that's another $50 day pass fee on top of the resort fee. I understand other hotels do this but I am not into normalizing this. This is more a practice in the US, when you travel to Asia and Europe, saunas are at least included. Fees on top of rates on top of fees is a continuing practice at US hotels that I will be calling out and reflecting in reviews and to hotel staff. Anyway, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. It's fine if you want to check it out. I've stayed at other hotels in the area and would recommend those, esp at this price point you have the world of options.

This is…read morenot our first trip, but our Thanksgiving was so much better for having been guests at this lovely, beautifully maintained and amiable retreat. We had a horrible experience last year at a hotel we thought was our forever place who tightened their budgets in the most inelegant ways while still charging more than twice what we paid for our stay at the Descanso (you can search for my previous reviews). The Descanso provides both breakfast and lunch. Breakfast is served hot and to order every morning in a small kitchen which is open 24/7 for the guests, and has snacks during the day and a great coffee machine which will make pretty much whatever hot beverage you have in mind. You will not lose weight here, but you will enjoy gaining it. Lunch is brought from a couple of local restaurants and it, too, is very good. Speaking of service, the Descanso like its big sister hotel, the Santiago, is absolutely customer centric. Everyone works very hard to insure your vacation is exactly what you wanted. I thank Charles (Manager) Dustin (Asst. Manager) and the rest of the staff who truly care about your comfort and satisfaction The grounds are smaller than the Santiago (larger than the other member of this group, The Twin Palms, where I haven't stayed) but meticulously maintained. The pool and spa are serviced daily, the greenery is constantly maintained (I forgot to take the lemons - I asked to take - growing in the couryard which are beautiful). The accomodations are no less beautiful, in a post-modern Palm Springs sensibility with lush wallpaper and comfy furniture. This location is very close to the Palm Canyon Restaurants and shopping so you're never more than ten minutes drive from your dinner there. By the end of our holiday, we felt very connected to the other guests as it's small enough to be congenial but large enough to keep to yourself if that's your choice. It was a perfect stay at a perfect hotel which has replaced the unmentionable as our go-to for the Thanksgiving holiday.

I was a little scared when I read that most of the recent reviews were negative. I was thinking "oh no! What did I get us into." This place is a blast from the past. The decor is that of a mid century modern and is a really cozy quadrangle set up. The interior feels homey and the property is set up like an air bnb with shared amenities. They play 1950s music all day on speakers throughout the complex, it creates that vintage feel but can get repetitive after a few days. Lounge with tables, board games, travel brochures, couches, fire place, coffee and tea, and industrial kitchen for use during your stay. (Old reviews mention happy hour, breakfast, snacks, etc. these are no longer offered but why not just bring your own?) Each room has microwave and mini fridge. Outdoor gas fire pit for use. The pool is small but has a deep end 8ft which is nice. There are pool noodles and some tubes to use. The hot tub is spacious and powerful jets. We stayed in the Hawaiian surf room, loved the theme it was so cute and felt like a tropical getaway. The shower is small but functional. Good AC unit with a remote control and ceiling fan. Surfboard coffee table and wicker love seat add to the tropical feel. Overall this was a nice private getaway. You can be left alone to relax! If you need anything you can text the hotel and someone replies super quick in my experience. The hotel feels very secure with codes needed to enter the complex and security cameras at the entrance and surrounding the complex. (Probably for management to check and make sure everything is running smoothly). I would stay here again in a heartbeat and I have stayed at a few different boutique hotels in the area. This would be a top choice! Please realize this is an older complex and it does show some wear and tear but come on the building is probably 100 years old or somewhere close to that. If you are expecting a sterile, high end, resort feel for your stay this is not your place... but otherwise this is a great choice! I couldn't help but feel bad for the owners with all of the really bad reviews on here because that was truly not my experience. I left off one star because there are definitely areas of improvement that could be made but not enough to ruin my experience.

There are 10 rooms available and each one is a different theme in the 1950s. I stayed for two nights in the Crooners room and I enjoyed my stay a lot. When I arrived, Tim, the inn keeper assisted me with my room keys and showing me around the property. My room was decorated with the Rat Pack and I loved it. All rooms are a maximum of two people with a hot tub, refrigerator with water, microwave, and coffee maker, air conditioning, and DVD player. If you'd like, bring a DVD and popcorn to enjoy during your stay. The bed was pretty comfortable. There were more than enough pillows which I'm guilty of using more than one pillow while I sleep. I love how the comforter was linen on the outside, but cozy and warm on the inside. The Crooners room has two sinks, but I only used one. There is happy hour everyday at 5pm by the pool or communal area with snacks and beer or wine. During my stay there were chips and salsa and the following day was veggies with dip, with of course a drink of choice. Really nice touch added to my stay. It's been a while since I have stayed in a bed and breakfast and I love the homeyness here. Breakfast is served in the communal dining area with hand sanitizer provided. The three-course breakfast starts with a fruit smoothie, a fruit parfait and a hot breakfast. For breakfast they served blueberry pancakes with sausage and the following day it was quiche with artichoke hearts and potatoes. I loved the service here so much. You sit at a table and they serve the food to you. The pool is open 24 hours will pool floaties available to use as well. Another thing I like about this place is that because there aren't many people (max 40 people at a time) it is highly likely you will get the pool to yourself. When I checked out and left the property I told my husband I would enjoy staying here again. I really enjoyed my stay here and highly recommend you stay here too.
