They don't care about education, there just there for the money I guess.

Dr. J, Dean Smithers, Dallen, Professor Gayani, and Professor Rains are genuinely amazing people. However, the turn over of Deans' and instructors really hit me at the beginning of my second year. I was harassed and even bullied by some of the teachers and one past Dean. I tried to lay low and keep my head down after personally breaking down in front of one, when I had enough. One professor literally made me cry and just stared at me with dead eyes, later she had continuous mental break downs during lectures, and would say the most cynical things about nursing and her personal problems. A past Dean singled me out and would take me to an isolation room where she would spook me out before big exams. I should have left then. However, I kept it private, in fear that the "gang" of mean girl teachers would continue to gate-keep and retaliate with grading. I presented the documentation for accommodations- which they miss led me to believe they would provide, I only requested isolated testing. Did not happen. Three retakes and one appeal later, still no accommodation. Testing for HESI with absolutely no preparation besides a shot at remediation. That's where my time at Fortis was wrapped up- with a $19,000 student loan to pay, no degree. One HESI was a 799- you need a 850+ to pass all core nursing courses. Just be aware of the credits being trash, only other private* for -profit schools will consider transferring, the amount of disrespect you'll have to endure, the falsifying of financial agreements you will indeed encounter here, and breaking the law ( American disability act), other than those issues- it was a fun roller coaster ride and *MY biggest life lesson* which is priceless! I made some true blue friends from the trauma bond, as well! ( I'm currently going back to S.L.C.C ) where I have real credits that didn't expire, and most importantly, I will not have to start (completely from scratch). Out of my friend group (5) there was only one who made it through, one they convinced to be a guinea pig for their 'NEW'- LPN program, and three of us- left to figure out how we got bamboozled? (Emotionally, mentally, and financially- I never recommended Fortis to anyone, I cared about...it's that much of a gamble. The proof is on the walls* The 'Hunger games' begin, around (pharmacology- med surg 1) A cohort of ( 35 students - 25 students) = 10 students will continue...This is the weeding out process- they only want the (top scorers) in the end* to fatten their pockets* and to claim their NCLEX passing rate is legit.

They don't take money from the government or accept insurance and it's totally free for students to participate. (In fact, the longer you stay, you have an opportunity to make money while you're here.) It's not a traditional rehab center-in fact, they don't call it a rehab center at all. It's a home where students commit to live, contribute and abide by incredibly strict behavior protocol for not just months, but years. Their success rate is off the charts and students who graduate from the program are given tools to succeed at life, not just sent on their way. The funding for the Academy is mostly self-funded from their social enterprises (moving company, thrift stores, donut shops, etc.) which are all run by the students. The curriculum is rigorous with accountability and humility as the main theme that runs throughout. It's not for the faint of heart and they don't sugar coat anything, but if people are ready to make a significant change in their lives, this place will help them.

I have been using Canvas for the past year and I find it to be an intuitive platform and fairly easy to use. I am writing this review because I am still discovering features that are new to me through the platform, which further my appreciation for the thoughtfulness, and thoroughness in the design. I think that it serves both the student, as well as the instructor quite well. It allows and instructor some flexibility in course organization, and delivery, with multiple options in the settings menu for customization of the grade book, modules, assignments, announcements, and calendars. The features of Canvas are sufficient for delivering course material for any class and serves as a great organizational tool. Canvas offers "Help" pages and forums that answer questions about how to use its software. I recommend this product to other educators for use as a technology tool for delivering coursework, and it can be used for classes that are and are not online. I believe that this platform can be learned without training, and is another reason I credit its design. This is the only technology tool that I have used as an educator specifically, and I do not see much reason to transition into another platform that fulfills the needs that Canvas does. It simply is a great platform for educators' use and it allows for several methods of communication between the educator and the student such as announcement pages, discussion boards, and built-in features for sharing images and video. The Instructure developers understand that communication is important between teachers and students and it is apparent in the design of Canvas (Hardison, 2017). Hardison, J.,(2015, February 19).
