Think Massage Envy here in Southern California. Located in fancy Salamanca among its fancy shops. The spa is located upstairs where someone will check you in for your appointment then lead you to a relaxation area to drink hot tea. When summoned to your massage room, you strip and get a wonderful massage. I enjoyed my masseuse as she could feel the knots in back and tried her best to get them out. After the session, you are led to a post-relaxation room. However this parT was not too relaxing as there is a salesperson there discussing with yyiu to join their membership plans. He was a friEndly and comical guy, but who really would prefer to listen to an upsell over sitting quietly enjoying the tea, chocolate, and champagne Fariolen gives you post-massage?

I have gone to this place a few times and everytime I go I end up leaving disappointed. Everytime I…read morego they dont ask what shape I want with my nails and they leave blood in between my cuticles and the skin (on my hands AND feet). This time it was even worse. The woman drilled my nails down so so much that they are brittle and thin and it literally physically hurts to touch some of my nails. I never leave bad reviews, but I always have strong and long nails and after leaving here my nails feel destroyed. (mind you the gel polish literally peeled off less than 4 days later) Also just to add, everytime the womans co worker would turn around she would make faces or talk badly about her to her other coworker right in front of me. they started whispering to eachother to the point I began to feel insecure and thought they were talking badly about me. I am never ever going back. Also the vibe of the place is super quiet and down and not welcoming at ALL.

The salon is spic and span and very relaxed, so much so that I wanted to nap throughout my entire manicure. The manicure seat is full of soft pillows and bright colors, very chic and plush. The manicurist was super sweet and did a fantastic job, communicated as best she could in English or just simple hand movements. My mani included a lovely hand scrub with warm water rinsing and massage. They have all of the latest and greatest colors from Essie, as it's an Essie sponsored spa! All of the above for the very nice price of 20E

Don't get me wrong, it's beautiful, they have all a wonderful color selection. The decor is cute, and they are super friendly - until it's time to pay the bill. All of a sudden, my friend and I who had the same services done simultaneously got charged different prices. The woman at the register claimed they'd done some extra services for one of us. She wasn't even clear which of us had received the extra services. We started and ended our mani pedis at the same time, so it's really not even possible. I think she's the owner, and she was not the one to check us in. My friend speaks fluent Spanish, so it wasn't a language issue; although perhaps she was trying to scam the American tourists. Avoid this place at all costs!

The staff spends careful time on each treatment and makes sure you are fully enjoying yourself. I came in for a manicure, pedicure, and bikini wax. I didn't know that all they do is sugar here, but it was alright in the end! Results were great-- and the nails were stunning!! Awesome selection of colors and the deal here is that it's all organic. Totally would trust them with massages and facials. Spotless facilities and fantastic experience all around. Beauty in Madrid comes at a price, (more so than my native NYC!!) but it's definitely worth it at HandMade.

Read reviews that you really need an appointment, so I called when they opened and snagged one of the few spots left on a Saturday. So glad I made it in. First, the space is very calm and peaceful, with great music playing. I was warmly greeted - even though I was 15 minutes early (my planned stop wasn't open so I decided to be warm if early). I sat on the comfy couch drinking a lovey green tea they made for me. I was ushered (early even) to a wonderful technician who did maybe the best manicure I've ever had in terms of the treatment of nails and cuticles. I was beyond impressed by her skill and the polish job is great. She was sweet and apologized for not speaking English, as if here in Madrid she owed a customer that. She couldn't have been nicer. The manicure was 33€ (5€ kicker for picking a designer polish which was worth every penny). I'd say 100% worth it for the experience. I'd go back again and again.
