I've been a student here since January 2013 and became a volunteer instructor in August of 2013. Most, if not all, of the instructors here are volunteers. We all have "day jobs" but we love this place and owner Arielle so much that we teach classes in exchange for taking classes. Dance Life offers fitness classes such as Zumba, piyo, piloxing, Oula, dance classes like bellydance and ballet, and crossover classes like 'tone and tease' and burlesque fitness. The main entry has a cozy lobby space with overstuffed sofas, chairs, and decorative pillows where we all gather before classes begin. There is a changing area, two restrooms and a water dispenser in case you forgot your water bottle. Classes happen in either the large Sultana Studio or the smaller Peacock Studio. I'll post a photo of the wonderful peacock mural next time I'm at the studio. There is a small shop where you can stock up on bellydance hip scarves and other dance apparel. There is also a small practice studio that students can rent. In fact, when classes aren't in session the whole studio is available to rent! Parking spots are located along the walls of the building. It can get a little crowded on busy nights like special ladies nights events but it's usually not an issue. Come check it out, you just may find your home away from home.

I still have no rhythm, but the classes are welcoming and I feel comfortable stumbling along about a half beat behind the instructor. I've mostly stuck to the beginner belly dancing classes, but I've also made it out to ladies burlesque night and just recently to the chub club dance party kick-off. That last event was a ton of fun, and like all of dance life's classes was a great mix of ages, sizes, and dance experience. Once you attend your first class, the rest of your groupon classes never expire, so even if you can't make it out regularly it's still a good deal!

Anand was great and when I actually took the test a couple months later, he made himself available to help me make sure I was on track. He really cares about his students and wants everyone to pass. He gave a lot of useful insight in the class and was an overall excellent instructor, he gets 5 stars. I would give the actual Academy more like 3.5 - 4 stars, but because they tie instructor bonuses to the overall Yelp rating, manipulating the ratings, I will give them 5 here for Anand. Why does PMA get lower? Because they have such an extensive library, when there are changes in PMI focus and materials, it seems that it takes a while for PMA to update their training materials. PMBOK 7th edition was released 2021, the class I took at the end of 2024 still used handouts from the 6th edition and questions and focus of training was on 6th edition content, meaning I had to find other sources to really get updated info. Not that the 6th edition stuff is wrong, but I spent a lot of time learning things that I was not tested on and a newer mindset drove the questions for the exam. Now it is May 2025 and PMI is reviewing their 8th edition and PMA now has more 7th edition questions in their practice exams. They are not bad, the PMA class was very helpful, critical even, to passing my PMP. And when my access to their program expired while I was studying, they extended my access for a couple more months. The videos, overviews, and study program online are useful and the week long, in-person format was great. But I want potential customers to get a real review and understand pros and cons.

I attended the June 2023 virtual class with John Dokos. I chose PMA as they offered a variety of…read moresessions, including 1/2 day options, & had a great reputation. The class was incredibly informative allowing for both real world narratives & test preparation. I highly recommend taking this class in preparation for the Professional in Project Management (PMP) exam. The exam covers a lot of content & is challenging; thus, having access to experts, tools, and tailored training is key! I also appreciated the pace & effort made to create a sense of community throughout class. Have confidence that the PMP exam training is a worthy investment.
