I love the providers... The nurses, doctors, all of it are so kind. However, the rest of it is trash. It's hard to make or get an appointment... The billing is NEVER correct, overbilled, and INACCURATE ALWAYS. They are charging me additional for preventative and mammogram, coding them as sick visits???? Unbelieveable. I was assisgned to them via the portal using that medical management team. My knee was injured., i went to an ER clinic who recommended i follow up with my primary, Three weeks later i am sitting at home having made 3 doctor visits, all wrong. Now my review is not about that tangle of confusion that has caused me 280 miles of driving to see a doctor who is 26 miles away, it is the fact that to me their mission is wrong. Today i was laying on the floor in pain, hurting so bad, 3 weeks of trying to see my doctor, and 3 appointments , i have yet to have anyone look at my knee, give me so much as a bandaid, see me laying on the floor holding my knee in tears and not one person from that site came out to help me. a patient helped me off the floor, and when i finally realized again i was in the wrong place, and tried to hobble in great pain out to my car, they did not even offer to open the door, another patient loaned me a wheelchair to get me to my car, how i can have been in three different doctors offices in this much pain and they not care enough to try and do something for me tells me their mission is wrong, it is all about getting money from the insurance, not caring for a patient. How three different sites with doctors and nurses could watch me stumble and crawl out the door in great pain, could sit and do nothing, is just mind boggling. Garbage human beings for staff (except a few nurses). I should have heeded the warnings on these previous reviews as they are correct: DO NOT BRING ANYONE YOU CARE ABOUT HERE. Or even your worst enemy. Between 3-4 doctors, the nurses and a dipshit social worker they could not communicate any sense of truth to us the entire time we were there. Going here was not only a waste of money but also a massive waste of time for a life threatening situation. Ended up leaving at 3am after being there for 13 hours being told one thing by one person and it being contradicted by another, every 30 minutes. This review is for the general practice facility on Harborside. I've gone twice to this facility and both experiences were similar. The most egregious was my wife's recent visit. Her symptoms were a cough so severe she could hardly breathe, this had been ongoing for several days. She was seen by a resident who performed a cursory exam. With stethoscope in hand she claimed my wife's lungs were clear and attributed her illness to allergies. The doctor followed up with a less cursory exam by simply accepting the resident's findings (never checked the lungs). My wife insisted on a chest x-ray to which they agreed stating, "If the x-ray warranted further action they would call." Sure enough the x-ray taken that day indicated chronic lung disease with fluid. My wife tried contacting the doctor the next day for guidance but to no avail. Another day passed, my wife's coughing persisted and worsened. My wife spoke with the nurse who assured her the test showed urgency and her regular doctor would both prescribe a course of action and call her back. That did not occur. On the third day my wife went to an urgent care in Houston where they treated her with a breathalyzer and steroids. The treatment was miraculous; but here we were on day four and still not a word from the doctor. Over the course of these three days we very nearly had to go to the ER. The only words to describe our overall experience are incompetence, neglect, and malpractice. We will never go to this facility again. read more

Worse hospital I have been to. My wife had a C-section on June 30, and they tried to discharge her on July 1. If we didn't speak up and say we live 15 hrs away, they would've discharged us. So they let us stay another night. Then at midnight the nurse stated that they're about to discharge us... and where the heck did they think we were going to go!? This hospital is so unprofessional. Talking about patients and what not out loud to other workers. I found out that a 14 year old had a baby here. I'm in a room with 6 babies. Why!? The day shift and Night Shift nurse do not communicate. The day shift nurse stated our baby was doing great. Then out of no where, the next day her health supposedly went down. With us living so far away, we are stuck at the hospital from 8-5 and sleep in our car. I have two other boys that I have to find child care for daily because the nurse keep pushing our discharge date back more and more days. The doctor says the baby needs to be here 3 more days. My baby only has a minor issue in at 7-8a where she may keep milk in her mouth first before breathing. The rest of the day nothing is wrong with her. They stated she the same episode with the pacifier, but it's because the way she's swaddled, these forced to districted airways. Sorriest hospital. Unprofessional! I would not recommend this hospital. Only reason we came here is because we were at a family reunion at Crystal beach. Worse hospital in America!! read more

Had occasion to visit the UTMB emergency room in Galveston, TX. Not a serious situation, but needed a doctor's services. We are not from this area, so local doctor. From the minute we arrived staff was friendly, efficient and professional. Admitting was fast and efficient. Took me back to an emergency room and wait was a little long, but my issue was not urgent. ER Tech was friendly, professional and solved my problem quickly. Records clerk same and the nurse who checked me out was friendly and professional. A pleasant experience. read more

UTMB was the first medical school in TX and has weathered more than a few storms and hurricanes; so to say it's "old" is a bit of an understatement. However, they are currently "working wonders" on the campus environment with a transplant of their interior design, a few augmentations to the exterior, the erection of new buildings, and a face-lift for their logo. But don't let the geriatric body of the building disease your judgement of its heart and soul--the people. Both my main doctors, Dr. Matthew Dasco in the PCP and Dr. Gohan Kilic in OBGYN, as well as my daughter's pediatrician, Dr. Noble at UTMB Pediatric Center, have made it incredibly hard to find doctors in a new city that meet the caliber and kindness of service we had been treated to for years. I knew they were good, but I didn't realize how rare it is to find the same winning combination of sociability and smarts they seemed to have in abundance. Mine is now a textbook case of not knowing how good we had it until it's gone. read more

I have called several times too have a nurse call from GI and no one has returned my call. it's absolutely frustrating because my son is having issues. i highly recommend dr goodwin but the nurses absolutely suck. I have called because my son all of a sudden stop pooping on his own. so I have called and needed a nurse too call me back and these nurses can care less. From our GP, to the specialists we are referred to, to the lab, to the front desk, etc.......EVERYTHING that can possibly be effed up is...no one can do their job and it's mistake after mistake. Just today my daughter had an appointment with gastro....take off work and get there....and they had canceled her appointment. This is 2 days after the office couldn't even get a sample to the lab correctly walking it over there all of 15 feet. It was denied by the lab. Did I mention it's been A YEAR AND A HALF WITH THE SAME STOMACH PROBLEM playing their stupid games? They can't even manage a sample or gastro appointment. This is why it drags on and on. They're medical care is equivalent to a 3rd world country. It's a circus....so done with them. read more

I encourage anyone who has a choice to stay clear of UTMB in Galveston Texas if you have a cancer dx. Though our family member was incarcerated that shouldn't have made a difference. His doctor told my daughter and me "We don't treat what's not curable". I was a bit taken back by the cancer dx however, hearing that phrase had me baffled. With any type of cancer no doctor can guarantee or know if a cure or remission is possible without an attempt. My family member and I were lied to and led to believe palliative care would be one way when it wasn't. Bottom line is UTMB's lack of care is what ended up killing our loved one before the cancer. He would have been home end of 2017 or beginning 2018. Lastly, UTMB is attempting to bill us for choices they made as far as transportation and never once called our family to discuss. Either UTMB or Carnes FH were trying to double dip. Getting paid by The State of Texas and our family. I have not been able to mourn our loss as I've been too busy attempting to fix UTMB's mistakes. Thankfully I was able to get in touch with an elected official along with TDCJ's chair. Both gentlemen are taking time out of their busy schedules to assist me. They were both wonderful. The one positive I saw was the nurses care. They never treated him differently. They provided care and treated him with dignity while at the hospital in Galveston. Once he was transferred to Hospice inside TDCJ there was NO palliative care. My loved one along with myself (during visits) emptied the foley bag. I cleaned his open wounds, etc, etc. I live 5 hours one way so staying 7 days a week in a hotel was financially doable. I do not blame TDCJ as medical is contracted out to UTMB. I recorded our phone calls as does the phone company on its end. I am now thankful I thought to record. It will help me grieve and help other families who will go through this nightmare. If you are able, I encourage you to seek treatment in South Houston. Maybe the regular side of the hospital is different but, it doesn't seem so by the ratings. * To the mom of Angles STACY T: I'm so sorry that you've lost two beautiful babies. I'm sorry for the treatment you endured during such a tragic time in your life. May God provide you with peace and comfort. I know my words cannot take away your heartbreak....Please know you'll be reunited with all your children one day. I pray that you've been blessed with a healthy baby to raise here on earth. Lashanda Lindsey needs to be fired. My mom had surgery there ( cancer ) I was informed the surgery would take about 6 hours to complete after 3 hours of waiting lashanda Lindsey tells me my mom is done in surgery I asked if she was sure and she yes she down stairs in the day room (the 1st waiting room I was in) so I go down stairs from the 4th floor to the first she's not there. Actually another patient was in there I felt so bad I slammed the door and I was like where the heck is my mom. So I ask another nurse on the same floor and she tells me to go back upstairs.. so now I'm panicking and I go back up stairs and ask lashanda Lindsey if she can show me where my mom is because there was someone else in the room. She tells me maybe she's in a different day room than the one we started in and she she verbally gives me directions to where I can find this waiting room. You know like the waiting room I just told her I left and didn't find my mom who is in life threatening surgery. So I take a deep breath go back to the 1st floor from the 4th floor and ask a nurse if she can help me. She says she's not sure I need to get this information from upstairs. Frustrated no one is helping me I see the woman from the front desk in the hall way talking to another nurse and they're laughing and smiling so it seemed like a good time to ask for help. So I did and she ignored me. So I go back upstairs and lashanda Lindsey is now upset with me and saying she already told me where to find my mom and she gave me step by step directions and if would just listen I could find her. I then walk off because at this point this crazy lady is no help to me finding my mom. So I back to the first floor from the 4th floor and this guy nurse sees me going back & forth and stops me to ask if I need help I told him yes ive been on a wild goose hunt trying to find my mom. He walks me back up to the 4th floor and this time is asking people on the status of my mom. Took all of 2/3 mins to figure it out.. he tells me she actually still in surgery and she just went into part 2 of the surgery which takes the longest... I thanked him. Then me him and lashanda Lindsey get on the elevator to go to the first floor the way to the elevator lashanda starts saying if I would've just listened and she doesn't know why I walked off that's why I couldn't find my mom. I told her I was interested in having a conversation with her. She continued to babble about my wrong doings and how " sometimes she just can't stand her people" and she also said " you can tell my manager I said that" if I could remember everything She said trust me it would be here but I was just focused on my mom hence why I told her I wasn't interested in talking with her anymore. But she yapped on anyways. I wish I could go into further details about thst day and how almost all of the nurses and regular desk workers don't care AT ALL about the patients. They clock in and clock out. Shake my head one of the oldest historical schools and health care services and yet such bad apples. I spoke with the manager and he apologized about the incident but I'm sure he did nothing about it. Overall I give the staff 2 stars only because the actual DOCTOR was nice But literally everyone else 2 thumbs down completely rude and only care about getting paid Other than that my mom's surgery went well! We just had a baby and made an appointment for newborn visit and was told both me and the mother could be there but when I get there the stupid asses at the front were very rude didn't want to listen to me or the mother and made me go outside. So fast forward to the office the mom has all these questions and they are ignoring her and only talking about what they want not what she wants. They are more worried about why I'm upset then why the baby spits up in between feedings. The nurse wasn't even done checking the baby out and the doctor comes in and basically tells the nurse to shut up. Tells mom that he is under weight and needs to pee more but not to feed him but one ounce at a time ‍. The whole experience with utmb has been horrible. Went to UTMB Dermatology in League City. Was seen by two doctors, one a resident. They prescribed a medicine that I was to start immediately to prevent advancement of my symptoms. However, now 25 hours after my appointment, the prescription has not been sent to the pharmacy. They say because the doctor never completed the notes on my file. I called twice on the day of my appointment. They said the prescription would be sent before they closed. I called early the next morning, "both doctors are in clinic today (in Galveston). We will have the nurse track down the doctor and have them phone the prescription to the pharmacy." Before noon I went back to the League City office to see what was being done. Nothing of course. The receptionist said she would call the doctor - nothing doing. If I don't get the medicine started within 72 hours, They say it won't help much. I guess this will be my last time at UTMB. read more

A large ambulance. I'm in it, coming out of a seizure. The staff around me talking in "code". That is how my experience with Galveston Hospital began. " Did you check out the ink?" I clearly heard the driver of the box on wheels say to the 2 nurses running my vitals. What followed was unbelievable. The staff thinks they're pulling off a great act. Here is the horror...they all set "stage" , a buzzer loudly starts, I could see the staff begin waking like the cop in the Terminator movie. The room that is set up for CT imaging has ... a 7 ft tall metal pole with a hook at the top. WHY? The air would abruptly blow from 1 vent in the room I was in, a nasty smell of lilac and 1 fly came out the vent....WHY? I don't know how the weird "show" fits in to a hospital ER.. but what a joke they thought I bought it. One nurse asked me a couple of questions on her form. She was using the worst fake accent.... I stared with no answer...: then I said " I'm not buying this". She seemed to go on as though she were in character, asked me the question again. I stared, rolled MY eyes and said.. " I am not buying your act... nor am I buying the whole set up. She dropped her shoulders a bit, then in a normal voice ,"you're not buying it, okay.. She asked the question ( 3rd time now) I answered as though nothing occurred. What a sick game . read more

Took my daughter in for ear infection with no wait. After the intern said let me get prescription we waited! waited! & waited! after I saw & heard intern go to next room then a staff member went in and they discussed hospital procedures while we "Waited".. While we waited I noticed a metaphoric picture" on the wall with the photo pic being of "a jar with coins inside" & a caption that said "Make a change" with 1800 phone# below the caption so I called while we waited. I heard phone ring in the next room And doctor came in and said "what's the problem". He then left again & back again with the prescription. I had to return But to a different hospital. We went straight to the Pharmacy and then to another hospital because the quack didn't actually see that the ear was closed. I had a second visit but to a different hospital ER because the complacent quack at UTMB Galveston didn't accurately look into ear via full examination. Any tentative intern would see ear was closed and had to insert the flint so ear drops could enter the ear.. It was early weekend day with 2 hospital visits, the first visit was UTMB then the second ER visit was Texas city which they correctly examined & remedied. Quack Quack lol read more
