On a recommendation from a friend we tried the USS Nemo for dinner. I have to say it was a excellent choice. When enter the restaurant you find portals on the side walls with bubbles rising giving you the impression you are in a submarine. They have outside dining also if you don't feel comfortable indoors. I ordered the arugula salad to start which was very flavorful and main course was the snapper over rice in a slightly spicy sauce perfectly done. The strip mall location is a turn off, the exterior sign is cheesy, and the room inside could use something to break up the space and the noise, but this is a terrific menu and is very attractively priced compared to other high end dining options in Naples. By far the best dinner we had, and we went to some of the "usual high end suspects." Calamari appetizer was particularly good -- liked the three sauces and it was not overly greasy/fried. My tandoori tuna wasn't as sharply spicy as I'd been led to believe by the waitstaff (who were great -- upbeat, attentive, and fun) and by the front desk attendant at our hotel who was from India, but it was unique and tasty nonetheless. Others in the party both had the seabass, which they enjoyed as well. Wine list was nice and not too outrageous (in comparison to others in town, which were insulting!). We Yelped "fried oysters" in Bonita Springs/Naples and USS Nemo popped up. Now the oyster options at lunchtime were only a po-boy and it was average, most other things at lunch were quite good. Pepper Jelly Calamari really was special. The olive, feta, sweet and sour blend with the mix of calamari really was a unique taste and we enjoyed very much. My mom and I had bento box option and were quite happy with them (although the option with grouper and sashimi salmon was better than chicken option). Although none of us went with the suggestion, when asking our waiter what was his #1 suggestion for lunch, he said the miso sea bass hands down. Stefan our waiter is really a good waiter. His attention to smaller details like remembering our requested no ice in one of waters and refilling bread bowl without us asking. It really is the small stuff and customer service early that sets the tempo for a dining experience in many ways. Arrived on time for our reservation and was seated promptly. Service was prompt and watchful throughout the meal. Amuse-bouche was delicious: creamy hummus, kimchi (not spicy), and sea weed. The bread basket bread was hot, fresh, and went real well with the aforementioned items or butter. As an appetizer I had the grilled octopus which was enjoyable. Although I do like macadamia nuts they seemed incongruously paired with the octopus. Entrees were the celebrated miso sea bass for me and the hot & crunchy grouper bowl for my wife. While my choice was good the h&c grouper bowl was raved over. More grouper in the dish than my sea bass. And its salad was exquisite. I polished off the leftovers the following morning. Keep in mind that my entree was more than 1.5x the h&c grouper bowl price. No dessert for us that night Ambience: fine. Tables are tight. 86 people sitting in that room provides lots of potential for a noisy night as there's nothing to absorb reflected noise. We were fine with the noise level on our visit. Didn't have wine that night but the list looked interesting and was not priced exorbitantly. Table cloths on tables! Our tab was $90 including 20% tip. This is a special place that had been recommended to me but for some reason didn't try right away. I love it! They specialize in seafood with an Asian twist. Everything is fantastic! The poke bowl, the miso fish, the crunchy grouper bites. Always good. I usually try something new every time and have never been disappointed. It seemed out of place, but I took a chance with a Quebec favorite, poutine, which is French fries with a rich brown gravy and bite sized bits of cheese curd. Wow! My son had the kids grilled grouper which he loved, we had the sea bass which was exceptional. My other son had the kids sirloin which was perfectly cooked, the French fries however were really bad - the oil must have been too hot as they were very soggy and oily. When I brought it to the server's attention she stared at it as if a head was in the bowl ‍ However, if the worst thing was the French Fries, not a big deal - unless you really love French fries! We both did not leave a morsel on our plates - and continued to talk about the great meal we had the next day. Service was on point - Andra was helpful and attentive. She allowed us to substitute tempura style asparagus for the carrots that came with the sea bass, mashed potatoes and freshly grilled asparagus. Some people may find the seating to be slightly friendly with your neighboring diners - we thoroughly enjoyed it, striking up conversations with patrons that make this place a weekly - if not almost daily - part of their routine. What a great little place this is and tucked away in a strip mall. If your looking for something a bit different and a fusion of seafood and Asian sounds intriguing then you've found it! From the bread offered prior to ordering that came with a very nice lunch, seaweed in sesame (very good!) and even a little hummus, what a great way to start a meal. My wife chose the house specialty Seabass in miso sauce and tried hard not to order a second! It's a big portion so don't worry, she proclaimed it "so good!" My steak that night was cooked just perfectly and was served with house made mashed and veggies with hints of Asian spices. Every year, we look forward to their Volcano Yellowtail Snapper (served spicy or indian style ), Yuzu Rock Shrimp , & their goat cheese pear salad - all paired with a bottle of Pinot.
