I found out while visiting Fort Wayne that an O.G. college buddy from the OC is actually originally…read morefrom Fort Wayne. Small word! He also has a tangential connection to the Fort Wayne Famous Coney Island restaurant. Even smaller world, because I could see this hot dog restaurant from my hotel window! So I popped into the wiener shop to get my friend a souvenir. I wanted him to receive his gift post-haste, and I also wanted the package to have Fort Wayne postage on it. (It's the little details, you know?) So I headed to the nearest post office to send my package. This Fort Wayne post office did the job! Like lots of post offices, it's old and looks like it's from the 1980s. But it had all of the things I needed: a big envelope to mail the gift in, three clerks at the counter (I didn't wait long at all), and even a pen, which I ended up needing, too. They even had a dish of candy! I didn't take any, but that's nice that they offered. I was in and out in less than five minutes. This post office is also open until 6 p.m. on the weekdays, which was nice for me because I didn't feel like I had to rush to get there. You should know: There is one entrance and one exit! This post office is located on a one-way street, and you need to drive by the exit in order to get to the entrance. I didn't know that and entered through the exit, so that's why I'm telling you. Don't be an exit-enterer like me.

This is not my local branch, as I live out in Van Wert, OH. I was in the area though, and my branch was closed for the day. So in I came to ship a Christmas gift to my friends in Puerto Rico. This place needs more order. USPS does not have a service to box your stuff for you. They have supplies (you pay for) to box your own items, but they are located in different areas. The boxes are where the lines are, the tape is near the entrance in another room. You of course do not know this and are given no signage to help direct you. The line was enormous, it took almost an hour for me to get to the front of the line to ship the gift. Thankfully, I got it done. The things you do for people you care about..

I have never visited a place that I had to deal with this level of unprofessional and biased attitude. This clerk we have now identified as Cathy with the blonde. Karen, haircut always seems very agitated, irritable, short tempered and has a lack of customer value in the customers that are keeping her employed and that she serves. Upper management should definitely take a look at all the commentaries based on this specific clerk and take immediate action.

I've moved twice in 4 years trying to get out diplomat service area. There is a particular lady that works the front counter should be fired immediately! Manager as well because he allows her unprofessional and bias attitude. Customer service can only be accepted one way. Good. Performance in this location is just as bad. Put mail on hold, they send it back or misplace it. Deliver wrong mail or deliver multiple junk mail packets. I know this is because I confronted them about their service and they are retaliating. Called corporate postal number in Chicago and Indianapolis. Both transfer me to another person. If it's a felony for a person to tamper with people mail, same rules should apply to the workers and carriers of the postal service. This is the 4th step in many to get attention brought to this matter for better service that is expected of any employee.

Moving is a pain, especially when I have never moved across the country before. One of the…read morequestions I had was, how do I get mail now? I won't have a house for at least a month, I don't want it sent to the hotel I am staying at. Because of that, I decided to rent a P.O. Box from the Van Wert Post Office. Upon arriving to Van Wert, I went to the post office to finalize the rental. I started it online but I in order to finalize it I had to sign some paperwork at the local post office. Unfortunately when I got to the post office, I realized I completely forgot my paperwork back at the hotel. I didn't want to have to drive back there, so I talked to the postal employee. She was super friendly. She listened to me as I described my problem, and she asked me why I needed the P.O. Box? She asked me questions on how much mail I normally get and what type and she said, I would just be spending my money needlessly that I can just have my mail be sent to the general mailbox for the post office and all I have to do is come regularly and give my name and they would give it to me. I was floored. That saved me $88. It may not be a lot but I always look to save money and when your moving across the country every bit helps. My family had a bad experience with the mail service back in Homestead, Florida... and even some negative experiences back in Hialeah, Florida. Goes to show you that even government services are different when your dealing with genuinely good people from this wonderful small town than Miami. I have since come a few times to pick up my mail. I wait at most 10 minutes in line, that's not bad. One thing I noticed that I never realized is that the post office has boxes to ship gifts that are holiday themed, this time it was themed for Valentine's Day. I thought... wow cool... I didn't know that. I have sent gifts to friends before and I have always used either UPS or Fed Ex. If I had known USPS did that, I would have shipped with them. In gift giving, every detail counts and I like to spoil the people I care about or love. I will use this local post office in the future.
