i went to the brentwood rd site for the first time yesterday. short staffed ( one cashier) and the supervisor was not professional. she and the cashier were doing too much joking. i will not go to that location again unless i am going to get a passport. there seemed to be a different atmosphere in that part of the post office. read more

Went there to open a business reply mail permit. While waiting in line a postal employee made sure everyone in line was in the right place and had the correct forms. I was directed to an office upstairs to the right person who couldn't have been any more nice and efficient. Torain is her name and she made sure my permit was perfectly ironed out. She even waited in line with me so I could make the payment and complete the process. My experience at Brentwood was top-notch. read more

I came in to get my Passport...after all of the horror stories, I was highly anxious....for nothing.....I was prepared and they treated me so nicely that I had to look again and make sure that I was in the right place!!!! I never thought I'd review a post office, but I noticed what a low Yelp review they had after Googling for directions yesterday. Unless it was a particularly good day when I was there, I'm really confused. My experience here renewing my passport in person was excellent, fast, efficient, etc. I was greeted with a nod by security when I first came in. Employees behind the counter immediately addressed me and directed me to the area to wait for passport help. They kept checking in with us and apologizing for the delay because they'd had a call-in due to illness. They pre-screened our materials to make sure we could get through fast once backup arrived. I had to get my picture redone because I had glasses on in the one I brought. I really appreciated the no-nonsense but totally approachable way they handled us, the customers. I saw absolutely nothing wrong with the way they interacted with us and even witnessed them handle a slightly belligerent person with calm firmness. It was a very professional process. IF YOU CAN, take a little time off to go during the week. They are probably slammed on the weekends. I was in and out in 40 minutes on a Friday morning. Get yourself up and in there first thing when they open. The day is fresh, and like all of us they are fresh. This is a post office. It was of perfectly reasonable cleanliness. The level of rudeness is unprecedented. For the passport services, there is a sign in sheet that isn't properly used. She sat at her desk yelling at someone who had been skipped due to not following a decent process. The issue is that they have a lot of power on a personal level. The one 5 star rating I saw was because they accepted a college ID instead of a valid drivers license. So yay for violating federal law. read more

Completely unacceptable. Had a package that USPS marked delivered to my work address. In fact, it had not. Apparantely USPS marks as delivered even though they are holding the package in a container that no one can locate and request that the office courier be sent for retrieval. After speaking to the representative, she decided that I should be transferred once I told her that the baked goods with cream cheese cannot sit for five days thus I requested that I go pick it up. It rang for over five minutes, no pick up. Continued to call back for the next hour, no one picked up (202 636 2289 and 202 636 2290). As the day before Thanksgiving, they are supposed to be open until 4 pm. I've been calling since 10 am. In addition, USPS should NOT be allowed to mark something delivered if it was not delivered and should also allow for retrieval of the package (or at least be able to find the package they are holding). I actually changed my address 3 times over 4 years because of I moved each time. Each time I had an issue getting this Post Office who handles forwarding to get me my mail! I went down one day, and spoke with my old carrier at my old address! She come telling me that someone told her I moved so she "Returned it" instead of forward to my new address! She claims she did not get change of address, although I have confirmation letter. I did some research and found out that the Postal Service is not legally liable for you not getting your mail! YES!! They have immunity through the Supreme Court! So if someone sends you something in the mail, or you don't get your mail at all, it's nothing Legally you can do! It's a big fat "Oh Well"!! Crazy!! It's been over a week and my $200, insured package has been held ransom by this office that won't update the status online, won't redeliver, and won't pick up the phone to even confirm if they still even have it at their office. read more

Maybe I caught them on a good day - but late in the afternoon before a holiday weekend, I was expecting the worst. I also noted some reviews (maybe censored) with racial overtones (if there's a dictionary entry for "the Man," it probably has my picture: middle-class, middle-aged white guy in a suit and tie), so it was with some trepidation that I had to go here to collect a package (after a convoluted missed delivery). I waited in line less than two minutes, and I found the staff to be impeccably courteous and professional - every person I interacted with, and I was in and out with my package in less than five minutes. I actually just signed up for Yelp just to post this review, given some of the negative reviews I'd seen before going there. read more

We arrived at 10 am on a Saturday to get 2 adult and 2 minor passports. Some had arrived at 7am to be first in line. We were told the wait for a passport would be 3 hours. We signed our names and went to the nearby beautiful Kenilworth gardens. After 2.5 hours we came back and were told it would be another hour. So we went across the street to MGM Roast beef for lunch. Ms. Norman was very pleasant and professional each time we asked her how long the wait would be. This cannot be an easy job, since there must be at least 75 families waiting to get passports! Ms. Lucille, the agent who processed our passports, was also extremely courteous and respectful. We had all of our forms filled out beforehand. If you come on a Saturday, do not expect to get out of there within an hour. The policeman patrolling the parking lot said the best times on Saturday are 8:30am or 1pm. read more

This was hands down the best post office/passport experience I've ever had. We were there with 2 small kids to apply for passports and mail in a renewal for a passport. We were greeted at the door and given helpful instructions. Employees regularly checked in with us to offer help or answer questions. The passport staff AND the mail staff were kind, friendly, helpful, and efficient. The whole thing took less than 25 minutes even though there were about a dozen people there during the Friday lunch hour. Wow, big thanks and kudos. read more

I received a notice at my home that a package was being held for me at this location. The slip had MY first name but my husband's last name. (I found out later the sender had put both our names on the package.) When I went to pick up the package, two different representatives refused to give it to me because my ID didn't match the slip. Remember, it was the delivery persons mistake when he or she wrote mismatched first and last names. I went back the next day with my husbands ID but they STILL would not give me the package. Finally, we both had to go and we did get the package but the folks were VERY hesitant to give it to us. I had to keep emphasizing that the carrier foolishly listed one first name and another other last name, and that I was being punished for a USPS mistake. Frustrating. read more

Wowwwww. Ms. Mack in the Passport Office was so incredibly and unnecessarily rude. Lucille I have met before and she was/is reasonably friendly, but Mack needs to retire or recognize that she is in a customer service, emphasis on service position. This review isn't about her though. When customers arrive, maybe the agents can give the customer a little information, brief is fine, but all you get is a rude "sign in". Even when I made inquiry all responses were gruff and lacking for much useful information. I went out to my car to retrieve a pen, with no idea if my name might be called, if that meant I'd lose my space, even after I asked about it, just to find upon my return that pens and clipboards are provided. When I took my photo and chose to apply lipstick first, Miss Mack was visibly annoyed, rolling her eyes. Sorry, but for any photo that I will be flashing around for 10 years I like to put my best face forward on. The service there is abysmal. I hope to never have to visit again. I honestly wish we could choose our own post office. This post office is slow, incompetent and needs to close its doors or fire everyone and start over! Upon leaving the area for a few months, I put in a temporary change of address. Filled out the card and handed it to the counter clerk myself. A couple weeks later, I received no mail. I called several times (you can never get through on the first or third try) and was told they didn't have such a request from me. This time I put it through online. Mail shows up at my temporary home. I placed an end date on it and assumed the system would do what it should and cancel itself out. So here's where things get a bit crazy. I'm receiving all usps packages but no envelopes. No mail. ..hmm. I speak to my courier everyday (privilege of working from home). I call USPS and they tell me the temp never canceled out of the system, I must go into the facility. I get there and they don't see it in the system. Lady tells me to place another card redirecting mail to my home from temporary address and that should suffice. RIGHT. All mail disappears...including packages this time. I'm still talking to the courier when I see here go by and she has no clue. To make a long story short, only after two more trips to the facility and a demand to speak to someone in charge did I find out my mail was stuck in some twilight zone. The only thing they needed to do was cancel everything out of the system, old and new to start mail again. Very lazy people who do not want to work! !! Now I've been waiting on a package all day that has a tracking number but no further status. When I call to speak with someone the seventh call, she picks up and instead of getting up and checking to see if the package is there or out with the courier, she tells me to call back tomorrow. I arrived at the Brentwood Post Office/Passport Department at about 5:40pm and they close at 6:00pm, when I walked in the look that these 3 African American Women gave me was like I had some type of disease. One asked me what I wanted, I said I'm here to get my passport, well one, which I found out later that she is a Supervisor, said "oh no, you should have came earlier, it's too late, why did you come at this time its time for us to leave, who comes at this time etc." when I say that I was shocked, I said, well I called and was informed that you close at 6pm and it's not 6pm yet. They were pissed and showed just how mad they were. The woman that helped me was throwing things around, slamming stuff, talking to me very disrespectful etc. I don't know how these women still have a job because if they were this way to me and was comfortable in treating me like this, I know they have been mean to others. I am almost 60 years old, and have never experienced anything close to this in my life, they treated me very bad and talked to me very mean, they didn't give me the respect that I should have gotten just being a Senior Citizen as well as a Human Being. read more

I walked in today to pick up a package and before I even got on the line a young man whose name was Abdul asked me if I was picking up or delivering. He took my information right away and within 2 minutes had gone back and gotten my package. I was with my baby and waiting in line would have been trying. This young helpful man gave me the best post office experience I have ever had! Thanks for being so helpful. Big beautiful lobby in that post office as well. read more

Ridiculous mail service out of this office. Letters deposited in a bundle under the stairs instead of in the box, delivering a missed-you-slip instead of packages when we are at home, our mail sent to other addresses, other people's mail delivered to us. It is the worst. Totally unreliable. read more

I guess it was a good day yesterday to stop bye and get my very first passport my mother and I were the only ones so the wait was very short ...I allowed my mother to go ahead of me while I try to fill in the answer to my application before I knew it it was turn to take my photo...I have a septum noise ring and was asked to take it out for my photo...(I have nails) it was a hard time taking it out and putting it back...needless to say I forgot to finish putting down a emergency contact...I hope that doesn't cause my application to be sent back?!? The passport services at this location are far superior to most of the reviews. I've had passports serviced at Brentwood twice (last year for my kids and today fir my own passport). On both occasions each of the employees were expedient, courteous and knowledgable. Today the whole passport expedition application process took less than 30minutes. It will be mailed to my home and I have a USPS tracking number to verify when it will arrive. read more

I work for an apartment community in the area, and I have to say I am appalled at the lack of customer service we have received from this post office. I probably shouldn't be appalled at all because it is the postal service, but I guess that's another story. But in this particular instance, the community has mailboxes assigned to all the residents in the community. Apparently the mail carrier had issues accessing a few of the boxes because they were "Jammed" was the term the gentlemen used. They didn't notify anyone in the community that the boxes were not accessible, so for WEEKS residents weren't receiving their mail!!! When we contacted the supervisor at our local post office, I believe his name was Reggie, Reggie was less then helpful. He even got upset with one of our employees and asked to speak with someone else. Who does that!? Reggie informed us he would be in contact with us to follow up. It's been a week and I have a feeling we won't be hearing back from Reggie! So what's the solution? The mail carrier informed us a technician has to come out to fix the box. Perfect. Do you have any idea when the technician will be available to come out? The earliest 6-8 weeks. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!! What do we do in the meantime? The mail carrier now drops off the mail at our front desk to distribute to the residents. One I'm pretty sure that's against the law, and two why are my tax dollars paying your salary, when I'm doing your job? I'm greatly confused. But rest assured I'm going to post this review on every site I can think of until I get a response. read more

Can I have an option of no stars? The mail carriers that deliver from this location need to be retrained and trained again. Being a resident of DC for only 8 months, the mail delivery is horrible. I live in a condo building where the carrier must have a key to get in the building. If they don't have it, they deliver our mail to wherever else near by. I haven't been getting my mail regularly and I know this because I sent myself a letter to track it. Retrain your postal workers, give them the proper keys. When I do get mail, I tend to get my neighbor's mail and mine. The boxes are clearly marked. They are just too lazy to sort the mail correctly. In the last week, I've only gotten mail once!!! Once?!?! With all the junk mail that gets delivered, you mean I haven't gotten any? I find that hard to believe and for once I'm complaining about NOT getting junk mail. It would be a relief to get it to at least know the mail carrier is doing their job correctly. Fix your system. RETRAIN YOUR MAIL CARRIERS. You wonder why you're postal system is so in debt? It's because the American people don't want to use the system. They don't trust it so they use commercial services! I hope the USPS does get shut down. Then, we can start having proper mail delivery. I'd be happy to pay extra to ensure I get my mail. read more
