I realize that things happen. But when they happen bad more than once and no one takes responsibility, it is time to take issue. A year ago I sent a birthday greeting card with $100 gift card to a family member. The envelope arrived opened and gift card was missing. I have never had a problem with USPS mail service before, had not insured it and wasn't positive it was a postal worker so I did not file a claim. This year I sent another greeting card with gift cards. Remembering last year's loss, I not only insured it, but requested signature receipt. Guess what?! The whole package went missing! You can not believe the hours I have spent trying to follow through on this. The telephone # at the Sunnyvale office is NEVER answered, and trying to get the general USPS to respond and/or honor their service and insurance has not been an inspirational experience! Take my advice, don't send anything of value or importance through this Sunnyvale location! By all means, use other resources! I think perhaps this location needs some serious attention from USPS upper management! read more

The old location is already torn down. They did give due notice for at least a month about the new location. The parking in this location is PATHETIC. The adjacent business already has a 'no trespassing sign' because they were commonly overrun with post office patrons. There are about 10 spaces total, and no street parking. The old location had about 12-14 spaces with another 8-10 spaces of street parking. I actually avoid the place during peak times. Parking is so busy in the tiny lot, it's hard to get in and out. I usually back in, so I can pull right out. It would be awesome if they stepped into the next age, and either install ground loop detectors in all the parking spots, and/or a video camera feed so you could drop by if you're in the area, and there are more than one or two spots free. So, is there an app for that yet? read more

This is the main post office for a decent size city and it has the smallest parking lot ever. Ridiculous! Besides that, there is no drop off box, which could remedy some of the parking issues. What were they thinking when they designed this facility? read more

I mailed a 12.5 oz package, weighed on a scale which my LOCAL post office checked out for me 2 months ago, and the jerks in Sunnyvale returned the package "for heightened security" reasons, claiming that I have to show up at the USPS to mail this package because it was over 13 oz. I go in, use the self service station to weigh and buy stamps for three small packages, barely the size of a paperback. The only thing I forgot (as humans sometimes do) is to seal them with tape. I go up to the counter and ask the lady to help me seal them. No, she says, I have the option to buy a roll of their (overpriced) tape. Surprised, I ask if she can help me by sparing three small pieces of tape for my packages. She says no, that it is my responsibility to make sure my packages are sealed. What about the responsibility of protecting the customer's experience? It's no wonder the postal service is leaking money. Comparing that to my experience with a FedEx two weeks prior, where the person working the desk helped me not only seal, but effectively pack my packages, this was a bomb. I don't need to be condescended to at a shipping facility trying to retain my business. The world is full of options these days. The better ones care about your experience, not saving a buck on miscellaneous supplies. read more

The customer service here was so bad! I came in today to mail my package and the Asian lady was really rude! I never ship a package with PayPal label before instead of explaining to me nicely she was so rude and condescending. She said that my label will not work with the box they have, it only works with padded envelope but they don't carry it. And I said how can I get it, she said i don't know from online we don't carry it. And I was like what should I do? I'm holding my 2 kids and I don't want to go back here again, she said just cancel your label online. So I got out of the line and tried to cancel from PayPal and it's not letting me. So I got back in line and told her it's not working and she said other people can do it! I was like can you show me then? And she said no idk how to do it. And I was so frustrated I said okay can I just ship it with regular box and I'll pay the fee. So I grabbed the box and she said write all your info on the box, I was like can you just type it from the previous label or help me my hands are full. And she said to me, no the pen is over there and just get back in line. I can't believe how rude she was to me!! And after all that she went and talk to her co worker about how stupid I was! I priority mailed a package to someone in Hollister CA, from this post office. Hollister is maybe an hour drive. I shipped on a Friday and I was told it would get there on Saturday. The package is currently in INDIANAPOLIS and the post office does not have an updated delivery estimate. I tried calling the post office but the hold time is 1 hour. The lady who worked at the desk was nice when I mailed my package, but if I hadn't gotten insurance and tracking I think it would have disappeared into the black hole that is the postal service. Still might be lost. Hopefully the package gets to its destination in one piece. Congratulations USPS, your incompetence has led me to my first ever yelp review. read more

This rating is generous. This place has got to get new management!! WORST customer service by the manager Larry, and incompetent clerks. Larry could care less about the fact that their phone number doesn't work. He didn't give me a chance to fully finish my sentence, and therefore he never could understand what I was complaining about. Note to you, Larry, LISTEN to your customers and actually let them finish speaking before rudely interrupting. If you listen, maybe you could actually help your customers, which is your job. If you cant do that, you should leave. They lost my package and didn't seem to know what happened to it after Greg the delivery guy scanned it in. Neither Greg nor Larry called me back like they said they would, and apparently it was delivered to my house the next day. I was not there to receive it, so they took it back without leaving any notice. The only reason I knew it was delivered was because the company that I ordered the package from has wonderful customer service and notified me that that happened (they knew I was on the lookout for their package, which was supposed to be delivered 5 days prior). This place and the people working here are awful. One of the worst experiences I have ever had with completely incompetent, rude people! read more

Our mail person is just the worst, and we have witnessed on multiple attempts by security cameras that she has not delivered mail, withheld packages for no reason, or assumed we don't live there anymore. Caught her on camera asking a gardener if we lived there while holding an envelope of my child's school pictures. They barely spoke English, so their "no home" response to her meant we did not live there. (We've lived at the same location under the same last name for 12 years!) She took our mail back to the post office. When I went down to complain and show them the proof, they still couldn't find my envelope and I had to reorder. I've gotten multiple message attempts of being unable to leave packages with explanation like "we were unable to access your front door, mailbox or driveway"??!? WHY? There is literally nothing blocking it? Not even cars, and we don't have a single item on the front porch except a door mat. After one complaint, they told me to go to the loading dock and someone would give me my undelivered package. So inconvenient. read more

This was my first time dropping packages at the Sunnyvale location. Wendy assisted me by collecting my labeled packages. She even gave me a tracking number that I didn't ask for, for a package that had stamps. She has been at the same location for 29 years. Her two co-workers for 31 and 33 years. She greeted my boy Freddy, my dog and smiled at him. Parking can be a nightmare there, I'm sure. However, to get good service from them after this long, they are doing an amazing job. The USPS locations and online rules/policies are at times different. She said that I needed to buy more stamps, when online it stated stamps are 1 oz per stamps. USPS Government need to get this right, cause it's not doing their associates and customers any good. I recommend this location and the Santa Clara one on Kiely too. read more

Update.The delivery person has the nasty habit of recording packages as delivered when they are not (yet) so. Only one package out of the "missing" 3 has actually been lost. Maybe my complaint will result in better record keeping. read more

What kind of business when the phone is always busy and I've tried many times for the past 2 days? No way to reach them by phone.

Well again everyone works hard but try to make an appointment to have a passport made or renewed because nobody ever answers the phone to make an appointment. After finally getting that done and meeting the postal clerk, she kept answering the phone and getting offtrack. We had to go through this process twice because we didn't download the correct paperwork. But it's the same paperwork from their office, just printed individually at home, not perforated and then separated. I was like really? Isn't that the same thing? I watched as we were handed the exact same paperwork, and then before my eyes, the paperwork was separated and handed back to us. My husband shushed me because with the phone continually ringing like fruit flies over rotten bananas, we were there for the long haul. And then on two occasions, the clerks looked at my 30 year old passport photo with longing, like viewing mother Theresa at some Baptismal celebration, and she says, oh, you were so beautiful, and then she looks up at me and with a pinched face and asks, what happened to you? And of course my child provided the direct answer, 'because she's old!.' Hey, maybe my youth reflected innocence, but I would rather be in the ranks of maturity and intelligence. And this happened twice with two different clerks. You know what I think? I think they are pretty radical and should stop playing Judge Judy. And during the 'interview' many people opened the door and started conversations with the clerk to receive passports like us. Sitting on the bench outside the office waiting for the interview, people gather and act like this is the last boat before the island erupts, and the big bad dinosaur runs down the mountain to eat them. Proof that it's hard to get an appointment. And let me point out, ahhem, that I was the only American born in this country in that office. New York, born and true. If you are going to work for the postal office, please learn to speak English. It reminded me of the time I waited 2 1/2 hours at the DMV only to be told my passport was missing. Went to office try to track a package with tracking number, which should arrive 4 days (2 business days). Forgot to bring ID. Staff said go to password room to wait supervisor. Then, wait there for few minutes, and was told supervisor is out for 'handling package'. Why, ask me to go to wait if you know supervisor is not HERE!!!! Never got such treatment anywhere. WOW... Will never walk in there again. The supervisors are not interested in running a smooth place and taking care of customers. This morning I simply wanted to have an envelope USPS track-able mail ready to send out in a few days. Surprisingly, it took a while to get, one counter person to service my needs, and we finally worked together to find a solution. She even checked my paperwork and said all was A-OK and I just needed to drop the white envelope into the the "Express Priority Mail" slot outside the service area once I was ready. I then walked out and looked for the "Express Priority Mail" slot she referred to. I walked all over the area we where talking about and found NOTHING marked Priority Mail slot. Just regular standard mail slots in several spots. Of Course I was Confused. Concerned this important document would get lost. Afraid I was going to do something wrong. I figured, I better double check . I returned to the counter and asked another counter person if the parcel was ready to be sent and where do I drop it. She gave me a completely different information and would not listen to what I was asking. She insisted I had it completely wrong. She acted like you can not do it that way. I was treated like I was an armed robber and violate for simply asking the USPS employee to find the other lady and get their story straight. ( Several Men Came out of the woodwork. Standing in doorways. ) Had already lost 20 mins in the place. She keep saying, well we can't track it till you mail it, The Supervisor would not listen. What was worse, was the WRONG USPS employee was ushered away so she never had to confess she was 100% wrong to anyone. I was made to feel like I was completely wrong to expect 2 employees to tell all customers the same thing. I just wanted to mail a document with some degree of confidence it would be tracked in transit. Treated like I was guilty of something. The reaction of the team was so defensive. They acted like I was waiving a gun or bat around, just because I was asking direct questions. As the 1st counter person came back and told to refund my money, she openly admitted the other lady and supervisor had it complete wrong. She begged me to just stick to her original mailing suggestion. I almost did it, till the supervisor , No just refund his money. Here is the kicker.... The Mail Slot she was referring to. Was a Multi Purpose Slot and not marked as a Priority Mail Slot. It was simple a misunderstanding. All the 2nd counter person needed to do is LISTEN. FED Ex and UPS would have just helped you with the paperwork and said drop it off once you want it in transit. Go elsewhere read more

I admit i never entered the post office. I just drove around it three tines. Allow me to set thy scean I orders a vest on amazon to be delivered to my work place in Sunnyvale.well the big envelop came and I was running calls.. I drive a 20+ton ambulance. And the post-worked instead of leaving it on the porch as requested at the station took it to the post office..$20 worth of product. Well this would be commendable if they hadn't t left hundreds of dollars worth on the porch in October. Well it took GPS and a pre scouting mission to find the building. Then the postage stamp size parking area wouldn't work for my Suz and never my work rig. It's December so I'll never get in there...Park on the street.. Really can you say traffic from hell. Sunnyvale is right in the rich Silicon valley hot spot. You can do so much better. Answer the phone,get more parking,do what is asked of you. I created an overnight express label on the 13th, and had a hope the package would be delivered to my customer on the 15th. It says clearly on its website money back guaranteed. We put the package outside our porch early in the morning on the 14th, and expected it would get delivered on the 15th. Guess what? the package didn't get delivered until the 16th. I wen to the office, and asked for refund. The man who is in charge (I think) made wait for almost 20 minutes, and came out to refuse to give me the refund. His main reason was the package had to get to his office by 4pm. WTF!!! If I had known this ahead of time, I would have done it differently. I really hope someone from the top management contact the customers to find why this office's staff should be fired. They are rude, not helpful.. read more

This is not just about this branch overall USPS service. I sent an International Priority regular mail to India. I was told that it would reach in 6 to 10 days. Since the documents are not really urgent, and I've at least 15 days time before the docs arrival, I opted for this service. It is already 15 days, there are no signs of delivery. I'm utterly disappointed with this service. I paid $26+ for this mail. Unfortunately, no tracking number. I'm planning to send another mail through fedex which can reach in 2 days. I filled out an address forward early November and received a few items the last week of November and nothing since then. I have checks, cards, packages, bills they are withholding from me. Tried phoning... they don't answer... got through to the answering machine finally and it is full so can't leave a message.
