This wasn't exactly a coffee shop, or even one that is set up for digital nomads such as myself,…read morebut we made do with what was available while we were in Cuernavaca. My husband had a grilled chicken parmesian chicken (pechuga parmesana) and he said it was okay. I had the lasagna which was also okay. I typically enjoy Italian food in Mexico, but it was at least goof to ear. Still far better than the worst lasagna I've had on the U.S. The service was a bit annoying. I told the man that I needed to settle in and look at the menu, and I'm guessing he thought that Inhad it memorized. Additionally, when I was ready to order, I asked if the lasagna came with any salad, and he said, "no". So here is where I fell into the gringo doesn't know anything and I will convince so they order more. The waiter told me that there was a salad, like Greek salad that I could order but that it would not be a side salad. I did order it and in fact it was a large salad without dressing? I had to ask for vinegrette and olive oil to fix it. So, when the lasagna did come, it did contain a side salad, and I tried of course to have them remove the dinner salad they got me to order. Of course I was stuck with it. Next time I will order and not trust the waiter. After dinner I ordered a almond latte, which was drinkable and my husband had a "cafe de olla," which is drip coffee, and it was fine.

Quiet inside and it's patios are breezy. The service was pleasant, but the food was average at…read morebest. The ribs did come out BBQ'd, but dry and covered with a tasteless brown sauce. The potato wedges covered with paprika were undercooked and a far cry from French fries. What was so surprising was being told one had to pay extra to get a few more chiles. This is Mexico, and after eating out far more than a thousand times, this is a first. The owners are reputed not to be Mexicans. Both the kitchen and the management need to wake up.

Alondra reminds me of those coffee sops in Milan in the Plaza del Duomo. It's just a place where…read moreyou can sit down, enjoy the ambiance of the city, people watch, and admire the cathedral while you have a good meal or sip on a drink. But Alondra beats it in one respect: the food is pretty amazing. I grew up in Cuernavaca and visit about every year. This spot has become one of our favorites. The soup, the sopes with pollo and chorizo, and sandwiches - everything we tried was delicious. They make coffee with condensed milk (as an option) which is sweeter and delicious. We ordered one churro, then another, then we ended up getting two orders of the churros with chocolate, vanilla, and cajeta (milk caramel) sauces. I am pretty sure we could have eaten another order. We will be back next time we are in Cuernavaca. You should, too.

My Cuernavacan friend suggested we have breakfast there. The restaurant is in a great location,…read moreacross the cathedral. There were two options for coffee, a Mexican blend and Lavazza. I had both and preferred the Lavazza. Mexican restaurants don't usually have half and half so I ordered evaporated milk which they serve in a tiny white ceramic dispenser. It's 8 Mexican pesos. My two friends ordered more evaporated milk for their coffee but we weren't charged for it. They were nice. They are known for sweet corn muffins. I took a star off because I wanted a Mexican pastry and coffee. I had gotten sick the night before and didn't want to eat much. But their only offering was the muffins and plain rolls. My friends had a full-fledged breakfast with pancakes and eggs. They finished their meal and seemed to love it. They have packaged gourmet cookies for sale and the cakes behind the glass display are beautiful. If I return to Cuernavaca, I shall try one of their cakes.
