I haven't had Urban Cup in awhile and it used to be quite good, but it's definitely gone downhill since. Every dish we got was subpar: -pho: broth was flat and lacked flavor -curry: flavor was not great; very underwhelming -cauliflower: it used to have a delicious sauce but this tasted air fried with NO flavor -wings: garlic butter was decent in flavor, but the wings were small and didn't have much meat. And it was all a bit hard too. SERVICE: HORRIFIC The girl who took our order messed up (honest mistake), but had no idea how to troubleshoot it. I gave her the correct order and I even asked if it was being made (because I wasn't sure if she missed it entirely or it was included but she added a wrong item) and she said yes it was, but it wasn't. I had to REORDER the item, which was the bbq rib plate and when she brought it out, she was extremely rude and forgot the rice and salad. The annoying part is her being upset at her own mistake. We really like the fact that they have a lot of different sauces, and how it's easy to separate proteins, from veggies, from carbs. It clearly caters to a slightly higher college crowd, but also I can see this being a place with affordable eats for a college student. My family and I occasionally go here for dinner to get garlic noodles and Pho. The place has a nice modern industrial feel to it as you enter and order at the counter. Tonight we ordered the Gochujang Baby Back Ribs with garlic noodles. The baby back ribs are marinated in their house gochujang sauce. Meat is tender and you can pull it off the bone. Sauce was slightly salty but was able to correct it with a lemon wedge. The salad it comes with is a spring mix. In addition, we got the Filet Mignon with Seasoned Fried Rice. The filet mignon cubes are sautéed with fresh onions and garlic, in their house soy sauce. Meat is tender and sauce is tasty. We think the garlic noodles would be a better pair with this dish. House Pho has a savory broth and served with tenderized sliced ribeye steak, slow-braised brisket, and beef meatballs. My wife and I really enjoyed our food from here. During covid staff is wearing masks and social distancing encouraged with stickers on the floor showing 6ft distance. They don't take phone orders so I ordered off their website and it was ready when I arrived. Take out packaged in aluminum bowls which kept food hot for the trip home. My wife and I both had the filet mignon with garlic noodles. I was expecting it to be like Vietnamese shaken beef but the flavors reminded me more of Peruvian lomo saltado. It even came with a green sauce which reminded me a Peruvian Aji sauce. My wife said she had a few chew pieces but 100% of my beef was filet mignon tender. The garlic noodles tasted just as good to me as the "secret kitchen" garlic noodles at Crustacean/Anqi for 1/4th the price. Both came with a small side salad which had a really good dressing. We also shared their deep fried Bao and egg rolls. Both were really crispy and flavorful. Bao was the winner of the two. We ordered garlic rice and chicken and garlic noodle with filet minon cutlets. serving was good the salad needs more good presentation with dressing we dont have dressing at all. This review is for the house combo pho to-go. If you're thinking about trying it, just don't. Instant regret. Don't punish yourself like that. Please. The broth was bland and seriously lacking. There were a total of 3 slices of brisket, 3 slices of ribeye, and 3 half beef balls. If you're wondering how big (I really mean how tiny) the slices of meat are, check the pics. They are laughable. The meats are also cooked beforehand in the broth so they are severely overcooked with some pretty much falling apart. I've never had a restaurant give me cooked pho meats in the to-go broth without asking first. Who does that?? Also, my to-go pho had no sriracha, no hoisin sauce, no chopsticks, and no spoon. This wasn't a big deal for me since I eat a lot of pho and have my own sauces, but if you don't then you're out of luck because you're gonna need a shit ton of hoisin and sriracha to flavor this bland ass broth. Been excited to try this new place that open in the neighborhood. Came two different times and one thing is for sure the customer service is good. Staff is friendly and attentive. It's a small place but manages to get everyone through rather it's dine in or take out. Menu is small not to many but options/variety. So far we have tried: -Popcorn Chicken: Wasn't to impressed seems like it's just leftover pieces that got fried up and then dusted with some kind seasoning. -Cajun Garlic Fries: probably my favorite the combination of cajun and garlic are meant to be. -BBQ Pork Bun: baby size snack waste of time -Salmon Plate: Sautéed mushrooms delicious, good portion, cooked well nice glaze and the garlic noodles goes well together. -Tom Yum Soup: although this had plenty of shrimp it was so sweet and not at all like tom yum added some of the habanero sauce they have and didn't help. I've been here for twice for lunch now. They get pretty busy right before noon. You go to the counter to place your order and find a seat. The menu is pretty diverse--Vietnamese and Thai appetizers, soups, and main entrees. They have plenty of drinks too. There's an option to build your own dish. Safe to say I could've napped after. Ribs with garlic rice | I had mixed feelings about this dish. The ribs are made with a Korean sauce that's sweet. When I ate them at first, I thought it was a bit sweet. Later, I had my leftovers for dinner and enjoyed them more. I would def get some hot sauce or chili of some kind next time. Coconut matcha | I did not like this drink at all. I could taste the coconut, yes. But there was a minty taste to it too. Overall, I'd say this place is a-okay. You order at the counter then they bring your order to your table. They have a variety of appetizers available, plus Pho Vietnamese noodle soup, and build your own plates (you choose the side, the protein, and any extras you want). We did the build your own plate and opted for their crispy garlic rice, filet mignon, and spring salad. We added a fried egg to the order. We were blown away by the taste (freshness, temperature, and taste). The filet mignon was so tender and tasty. I wanted to try their Rotisserie Chicken for my protein but the cashier serving us said the filet mignon is their most popular ordered protein, so I'll have to try the rotisserie chicken the next time we visit Cypress. The dining area was clean and tidy, as was their restrooms. They have plenty of parking, and the dining room wasn't super crowded on a Saturday night (we had 8 in our party) and had no trouble getting a table to accommodate us. It was cook to perfection (tender/juicy)and the garlic noodle are sensational as it was savory. Very delicious food! I was told they have big portions, so I ended up ordering two appetizers. Cauliflower is definitely a must! I think there's fish sauce in it as well. Must order!!! The chicken wings were very good too. The garlic butter was delicious, and there was abundant real garlic as well. There were a lot of sauces/dipping sauce to choose from by the way. 4 stars only because it was a bit over my price range for 2 appetizers. My visit here was disappointing. I'm really stunned at the high reviews on here. Since I'm allergic to seafood, I asked if certain items use fish or oyster sauce. Originally, I wanted the filet mignon but was told it had oyster sauce. I asked them if they could make it without and they said no.. it was already prepared. Next, I ask which options are available for me to choose from. The lady suggested the gojjujang ribs so I go with that. I also asked about the cauliflower, and she said those don't have seafood ingredients either. The food was so bad. I think it was pre-made and just sitting there (sort of like a Panda Express). My food came out cold so I had them re-heat it. The ribs were very sweet...too sweet I would say. I got the entree with garlic noodles and these were the worst garlic noodles ever. I normally get garlic noodles from EMC or Tiato. It had way too much garlic in the dish and it was overwhelming.
