Love visiting Urban Artifacts. I made a special trip to see the old Bergner's Talking Christmas Tree! They had some awesome merch (I bought a postcard and sticker), and I got to meander through the aisles of cool "stuff." They're rehabbing the tree - so we'll see how it's doing next year during the holidays. Cashier was super nice and personable too. I highly recommend a visit - you never know what treasure you might stumble upon! read more

Hysterical prices on a massive indoor garage sale, bewildering selection and variety, easy going staff, organized with some care, and us guys had a lot of fun looking over all the oddities, unusual products new and old, and many vintage pieces some rare but not necessarily valuable. These type of stores are notorious for that, waiting for the right buyer mentality, both endearing and slightly insane. Is there anything I personally wanted here? Not at all. Even for free? Still a no from me. Where others in my group tempted? Oh yes! The funny socks, big game fish scene, and a fashionable classic lounge chair all got attention. I understand the appeal and can easily recommend driving over from downtown Peoria to check out this junk church. read more

I love when I have time to hit up this shop! The used merchandise ranges from the 1920s-1980s, and they have lots of Peoria business history on display. In addition to the vintage goods, they carry new items as well like apparel including Peoria-themed Bygone Brand tees, greeting cards, soaps and fun socks. There are used records and cassettes, matchbooks, ashtrays, phones, radios, toys...just a lot of neat things to have a look at. In the back room there are several past Peoria business signs as well as salvaged letters you can use to spell out your message of choice. read more

I agree with the other reviewer that this place is like a small museum full of local Peoria area memorabilia. I love the KZ93 t shirt because that was my radio station back in my high school days. It's full of cool stuff that frankly is just that-cool stuff to look at-hence the museum type vibe that I got while browsing. I enjoyed looking through the records they had and I was very tempted to buy some. I also dug a few mid century modern lamp sets that were priced right, but might seem too high to some. Nifty odds and ends kind of store. A lot of old/retro stuff that is stuff you've never seen before or stuff you never knew you could buy! Ends up getting a Peoria magnet while my friends picked up some unique hangers and a retro-style soda. Friendly staff. This is one of three new businesses in the same building: Studios on Sheridan and Restoration are also connected. This one has a more industrial feel to it with antique radios, farm implements, appliances, bikes, cash registers, etc. I had a lot of fun looking at all of the antiques but I thought all the prices were much to high for a mere novice like myself. Maybe these are just for serious collectors and who knows, maybe they are worth every penny of what they are marked. There was an antique Schwinn bike that was marked nearly $400 but these are for sale on Chicago's Craigslist for not even $200. The one they had displayed even had a flat tire! I think of this place as more of a museum that a retail shop but I hope someone in town treasures these items as much as the owners or they won't be selling much of it! read more

i just happened to drive past and decided to walk in and I'm glad i did! i found some cool little stuff, antique cameras and they have some awesome beer signs i'm saving for. I would recommend to anyone looking for some unique vintage gift ideas or for personal collection. The prices are more than reasonable, then again i'm from an area where everyone thinks their stuff is worth more than reality would pay. I happened to read a review about the same place by another person and the bike the person is talking about is actually 400 for a PAIR of really nice schwinn stingrays (boy and girl) that if i could afford i'd buy, the tires seemed to be holding air pretty well for tires at least 40 years old. If you're into old advertising its a great place to go, i was talking to the person working for a while and they really seem to know their stuff. If you have free time check it out, they have weird hours but hopefully that'll change since they've only been open for 2 months or so from what the guy said. read more
