Needed food to take on the plane and this place was opened on the 4th of July. Their dining room was closed and they had no bathroom for us to use. Not good since it's a restaurant and especially for those dining there. Cashier was not the friendliest but we had to ask for forks, napkins and extra bags to separate the meals. Ordered 11 plate lunches to go and didn't have a chance to try mine until 5 hours later. We had the following: Chicken katsu and kalbi - was good even though cold but the sauce was so tiny. Shoyu shortribs Signature ahi with bomb sauce Chili cheese frank Garlic steak Definitely would go back when I'm back here to try the other dishes. Stopped by this place to pick up some lunch for the coworkers and I. I believe Upscale (the food truck that sold their famous steaks near Damien High School) took over the spot or maybe a part of it. The Upscale menu is available so super glad about that. My experience was great, made it just in time before the lunch rush. The lady that took my order was friendly and patient when I was ordering since I had a big order. She also made sure I had everything when my order was ready and asked if I needed any sauces for the meals. They do have a huge selection of food so it was hard for me to pick out what I was craving for. I ended up getting the Fried Saimin with BBQ Chicken for myself. The food was delicious just disappointed with the amount that was given, only one piece of BBQ chicken, for $9 I was expecting maybe two pieces at least. This place, not too shabby! Been here a few times. Ordered breakfast, lunch and dinner. Along with the Upscale Menu. The only downside is you do have to wait a bit for your food to be prepared. Yes they ain't fast food. I did notice a sign reminding customers about that. I do understand so I try to prepare myself when I plan to go there. Workers are pretty nice. Real funny, I like the Cook. You get a decent amount of food. I had the roast beef which was ok but a bit on the dry side. But overall I can't complain as there was ample food and it was serviceable. It came with three small scoops of mashed potato. That was a little bit on the salty side but otherwise ok. I tasted my friend's barbecue chicken and that was actually not bad. He had substituted fries for the rice and the fries were the old school fries you'd find at the lunch wagon back in the days. The macaroni salad wasn't great. Not a macaroni salad fan myself but I didn't care at all for it. It's not that much different from other plate lunch places but it needs more ingredients such as maybe boiled eggs or maybe even onions. Lots of parking here and other options. read more

I went here at around 8pm and ordered a NY steak plate, medium rare but it took over half an hour to come out. There were about a total of 3 (including myself) people waiting for their food and everyone got theirs pretty quick. After the others got their food I asked the cashier if mine was coming soon too and she literally had no idea what i was waiting for. so i showed my receipt and she found a plate that was on the counter and asked if i wanted it bc a customer phone ordered but never came. Diners is more of a nostalgic visit nowadays than an intentional one. A great place for 24 hour food! It's really hard to find a place to eat at 1 o'clock on a Sunday morning! Their food is pretty good, the ribeye is OK and the lobsters are to be expected as not very fresh but still good. And there is a good flavor to the ribeye steak, but the quality of the meat is pretty tough. But overall there's a good selection of food for an all night diner. read more

Today My Mom wanted to eat Curry Stew bowl so we went here. We ordered Curry Stew bowl for the family and French fries. It was tasty and the right temperature when we ate it. We got our order to go and it was perfect for a rainy and windy day. It wasn't that crowded today and service was fast and the staff was friendly. They're practicing social distancing and masks need to be worn there. We will definitely return and highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for something good to eat. It can be somewhat confusing to understand the order and delivery process, but trust the flow. We ordered garlic shrimp plate plus an ahi katsu. If you do anything in Oahu, come here and order all of the ahi katsu. Back in California, we are searching high and low for this! This spot has been a "go-to" for me for yearssss and I'll tell you why! Back in the day, when I used to drink and party, this place among a few other places were the only 24 hour place available that didn't serve just "fast food," type of meals. It was pretty cold last night, when I ordered food from here and I hadn't ate before going to work so I definitely was going to eat quite a lot. I got off at 10:00 and that doesn't usually give me enough time to find a place that's opened and is making "fresh" food, so I was very pleased to find them open and making almost everything on their menu. I ordered a steak and shrimp plate, steak - medium rare. Two orders of corn chowder, one small and one large. A saimin bowl combo, which was a small saimin and a cheeseburger, an extra scoop of rice and fries. This entire order came out to be $39 and some change. ABSOLUTELY, DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!! Steak was good enough, it was a little burnt but it was still edible. The shrimp was delicious. The salad and it's dressing was delicious! I've always loved the corn chowder and though it didn't taste exactly like it did before, it did it's job. I definitely liked it, the soup just wasn't as thick as it usually is. This is the first time they have gotten my order wrong, I've been going there since I young. I gotten an ahi katsu roll plate, it's like they've eaten 2 rolls and like it's fried but taste like it's been sitting on the side and didn't get my sauce for my salad, so now I have to eat it dry. Then for my other half's plate he got chicken katsu but wanted half curry and half gravy on the kastu but nooooo they had plain katsu on one side and beef stew (we didn't mention no beef stew) on the other but nooooo gravy? Like where is my gravy? Suppose to be all rice too but had one scoop rice and a scoop of Mac salad ! I was very disappointed. I think they are now called Diners Upscale HI located on N King St (that's the name on my receipt). Anyways, the food - I ordered their Steak & Lobster plate ($20). I had my steak cooked medium, and it was tasty, but half of it was pretty tough to chew on. I've had the steak before and it was much better then; hopefully in the future I'll get a better piece. I thought I would try this place out-definitely a plus since it stated that they are open 24 hours. The food wasn't how I expected-not in a good way. Especially since the food price did go up (price did not update on website). I order the garlic steak and lobster-website says $23 but since price went up it was $25. Pulled up lil after 2am Ordered Ahi steak with asparagus and 12oz garlic steak. The Ahi plate was ice cold and tasted really fishy. I ordered my 12oz Garlic Ribeye well done but that too was cold and drenched with either butter or oil couldn't figure it out and also it was under seasoned. I've been here 3 times since the beginning of this year (2024). Service has been quick and the food I have gotten was always ono. The first couple times I got the garlic salmon w/asparagus and the third time I got the garlic ahi w/asparagus. They were all cooked perfectly and tasted so ono. My daughter had their Ahi Katsu Roll and she enjoyed it. My husband on the other hand went there twice and said his food was good but not great. Place looks a little run down but usually the food is always great at those kinds of places. I will definitely be going back to try other things. The food here is always amazing and it's very affordable. Our favorite item to order is the New York steak. They make it a perfect medium rare all the time. Its very affordable compared to other places that charge astronomical prices for a peace of steak. Other items we tried were the ahi katsu which is bomb!
