I called in advance to confirm they took walk-ins, and was told yes they don't book appointments. I asked how much the service was (clippering an undercut). The lady was abrupt and rude saying its "all $22" and hung up on me. I arrived just to be told "we don't cut women's hair, not my rule". I have an obviously feminine voice and was never asked if the service was for me or someone else. Did I drive all this way just to be treated rudely and *discriminated* against. I have unbelievably thick hair and have to keep the underneath clippered in the summer or I break out with a bad heat rash. Clippers cut hair, regardless of sex or gender. Period. I wasn't looking for a perm, or hair coloring, or any other typically "female" services requiring a cosmetologist license. This was 100% a barbering service. Never been discriminated against by a barber shop before, stopping in at shops from Philly to Atlanta to New Orleans to Houston to San Francisco... I've never even gotten even a wierd look. I have gone to this barber shop for every haircut since I moved to Devils Lake and have never gotten a bad haircut here. There are three women that work here and all of them do a great job. Very laid back atmosphere. read more

we walked in and she was busy with a client which is totally fine. We put my dad in the chair and told her we were keeping his beard and mustach. His mom's funeral is on the 8th and wanted him to look nice. She cut it all off and gave us so much attitude about it. Her words exactly "it would have been better to know that about 5 minutes before". My mom came with my dad before and it was how she wanted. The shop looked nice on the inside. I expect a male to be the one cutting because I know how some people do it. I'm not sure of the ladies name but she shouldn't be doing what she wants to people's hair. I know it's normal to ask what the client wants more then once but when his gotee was already gone like what was she gonna do. glue it back on. I am very disappointe. read more
