Heard great things about this location so decided to give it a whirl. Located in Meridian downtown this small barber offers a classic feel with a classic touch. I was immediately sat and started chatting with the several barbers as they asked what I wanted. Didn't take long you explain my go-to-do and the guy was off! The haircut was clean and looked sharp. Said walk in was good around a certain time, I came a little after the time was said and proceeded to be yelled at by a lady for 15 minutes. Doesn't make a haircut very enjoyable when the lady deciding the fate of your haircut is complaining to you and making you feel bad for "walking in." Clarifying what I wanted my haircut to look like ended with her saying "I know what I'm doing" and the worst haircut experience I've had in my life. On top of that awful experience they don't take card or any sort of mobile payment other than cash or checks even though they state on their Apple Maps that they accept credit cards, and doesn't say anything about it being cash only, also they do not have an ATM in the shop. The lady did a phenomenal job making me feel awful for not bringing cash in 2023. Would have been fine with waiting if she had haircuts lined up instead of yelling at me and making me feel bad for an extended amount of time in the middle of my haircut. She could have easily told me an appointment was needed and this situation wouldn't have happened, when you tell someone they can walk into your shop at any time around a certain time it's presumed to be casual and a stress free situation. Especially if your shop doesn't close for another 2 hours!

I stopped by Uncle Ben's and they were booked out, but he recommended Doc Scissors, and it was on the way to the airport. I called and Eliza said she can make time! And it was so worth it! Don't always judge a book by its cover, because this place is a hidden gem! I got an awesome cut, brow wax, and hot towel treatment at an amazing value!! For first time peeps, it's only $10 for the cut, but I guarantee you it's a $45-$60 cut all day long! Eliza had great customer service, very friendly, and is working on creating her own small business, so go support her! I guarantee next time I'm in town I will bye stopping by to get all cleaned up!

He is a true professional who takes a great deal of pride in his work. I can tell him I want my hair to look good for a business trip one week from now, and he knows exactly what to do. The shop itself still has that old-school barbershop feel. I personally refuse to have my hair cut in any type of "salon" -- let alone some discount chain. You could basically see the tears billowing under my eyes when the owner of the shop told me, "Johnny is no longer with us. He packed up and moved to Cascade to start a cab company" My heart stopped for a second...or two. It was awful news to come home to. I had to find a new barber. I was starting to look like a hippie (not that there is anything wrong with that. Its just not who I am...anymore lol) So, I go to North End Barber Shop. I had noticed this place a few months prior to my visit. I thought, oh how cool...another small barber shop. Its small, homey, like a mom and pop shop. Kinda reminds me of the barber shops back home in NY, or the one Johnny worked at (Jacks Barber Shop on Overland). So, I decided to finally check it out. I waltz in, excited to get mah hair did. There was a big dude there, not sure what his name was...you'll know him when you see him though. Big, jolly, guy. Very nice. Anyway, he took me right away. There was also an older woman working there. I believe there is one other guy who works there, but I over heard he was out, due to an injury. I tell, Big Guy, "ok so, I want it buzzed on the side...pretty much down to skin...high up and then faded in perfectly. Kind of like a military cut...just the fade in needs to be perfect"..(Johnny was a master at this. YES! I loved Johnny haha! He was the man and knew how to cut hair...but I digress....) So then, I tell Big Guy, just a little off the top. He did great with that. I gotta keep on top what I have left HA!!...Thankfully though, I have a lot. Not losing it that fast, but ya know. THEN! OMG! He buzzes the sides, the lines don't match up, one side of my head had a piece where he buzzed way too high...didnt match up with the line on the side. Then, the fade....seriously? I couldn't even call it a fade. I LEGIT looked like a militant lesbian version of Shia LeBouf without that ratty ass tail he has.... and with the lines I had....which were supposed to be faded....it looked like I had a bowl on my head....like Shia LeBouf! I looked like the militant lesbian Shia...who lived in the Amazon and who should be scaling trees for exotic fruits and things. It was tragic. He told me, "its really hard to fade these lines in the way you asked" Ok, I'm sorry, but why are you are a barber? Tell me again how this happened? Like I said, nice guy, very straight forward. I said I wanted one thing done and he said "oh no, I think that would look awful! I personally think that point in the pack looks hideous on people" So much for trying a new and weird look. OH MY GOD! I JUST WANNA BE A HIPSTER, OK!??!!! haha! jk! They are the worst. Again, nice guy, straight forward. Dream crasher :-/ He tell you what is good and what is not.....but then he will leave you looking like a big ole militant lesbian version of Shia LeBouf. Thankfully, my roommate, used to cut hair back in the day and was able to fix it....somewhat. I mean, it was that bad. Thank God I am not a 12 year old....I would seriously be getting my ass beat everyday for the next 2 weeks!!! UGH! haha! Be Aware of this place!! or just of him!
