I was in the adult unit of inpatient mental health services. The staff are generally quite kind and accommodating. However, there was no compassion for me when I had a panic attack over getting my blood drawn. The phlebotomist held my arm down and did the blood draw mid panic attack while I was crying for him not to. As someone with past sexual trauma, this was quite triggering and you'd expect those dealing with patients to be more trauma informed, but I guess not. They also put me on new medication without informing me what any of the possible side effects would be or even asking me and have been known to do this to patients. read more

Handicapped automatic doors at Building D Imaging and Medical do not work properly at 7 am. This has been an ongoing issue for months. Sometimes they work. Sometimes they do not. This is not fair for people in wheelchairs or people pushing the wheel chairs. UPMC should have the resources to address this issue. This has been an ongoing issue for months. Do NOT send your loved ones to this place - I cannot even call it a hospital because that would require actual health care professionals to treat a patient with unbiased care and compassion and actually treat them - YOU WILL NOT FIND THAT HERE. In the past year my mentally disabled son has had grandmal seizures, MANY grandmal seizures, brought in by ambulance. They have not ONCE kept him there for more then 4 hours - NOT ONCE have they done a catscan -the last time he was brought by ambulance with a large goose egg and cut on his head in the area where his skull was shattered from an accident in the past. In fact they did not even treat the wound.- DIDNT DO ANY XRAY NOR CATSCAN instead they will wake him out of a sound sleep and wheel him out the door, while he's crying stating he's in pain, disoriented and confused barefoot, whether he has proper clothes on for the weather without caring if he has a ride home or not. This place hires the worst of the worst. If this was a REAL hospital/Healthcare facility the would abide by the hypocritical oath and treat a patient with unbiased care and compassion. They have no idea how to "treat" a person with epilepsy brought in by ambulance. Even any person off the street can Google the proper procedure for post seizure care, but these supposed medical workers, I refuse to call them professionals because that would require them to abide by the hypocritical oath and actually care about a human being, not,tossing him out within a few hours. And they said it's illegal to video record the mistreatment which in fact is a LIE as long as I do not record the Karen yanking him out of the best while he's sound asleep it is totally legal to document the horrific treatment. Since 2016 my son has been brought to this hospital after having a seizure and not once have they ever done one thing to help him. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had. I was sent here by Well Now due to tachycardia. The intake was quick and the testing was quick but then we spent the next 10 hours in the waiting room waiting for a bed which it turned out I didn't need. All I needed was a chair so the Dr. (which was a DO not and MD) to tell me that all my tests looked good and I was dehydrated and I needed to hydrate. Extremely frustrating! Would not recommend this ER to anyone. One positive was that the staff were friendly and after sitting there for 9 hours my husband told them that I was diabetic and hadn't eaten since 8:30 AM. This was around 9:30 PM. They did bring me a sandwich. read more

Went in to the ER for 1st and 2nd degree burns I got from a seizure in the shower. Was not taken by ambulance so couldn't be charged for that, had a family member that lives with me take me. Got there waiting room was quick, receptionist was nice. Got a room was there maybe 20 minutes for them to slap some burn cream and gauze on the burns and was sent home. Paid $300 when i left. Figured I was done. Get a bill from them later for OVER $2000! For what? They barely did anything besides rub some cream and place some gauze and say looks bad and made a joke of how calm I was and apparently not feeling pain from the burns. Was told to see my primary care physician, but I told them I didn't have one. I only see one for the seizures. They told me they would give me a list of a few which I never got. Even worse a relative of mine went there for a broken leg. They put a "cast" on it and sent him on his way. He went to his normal doctor afterwards and found out they had SET THE BONE WRONG! He had to have it BROKEN AGAIN and set it correctly. This is a horrible HORRIBLE place. If you need a doctor or have an emergency tell them to take you anywhere but here. read more

Stay away from this ER if you can. Unclean, over crowded and seem eager to just send people back with no care. They gave my aunt an enema and sent her home before she moved a bowel. read more

Emergency room Dr Mark Haen is absolutely the best Dr to ever Grace the halls of this place! He actually listens to patients and cares. Best bedside manner I've ever seen. He really cares about his patients and stayed hours over his shift to make sure my best friend was tended to as fast as possible and stayed with her until she was discharged. He was her Dr for 10.5 hours! read more

Wake up at 3:30am covered all over in hives scratching yourself crazy ?! Er adventure time!! Super small er parking lot and waiting room. Very clean and friendly staff with a TV on and padded chairs. They painlessly got my info and took me right in. Very caring and calming they really listen to you. I saw several nurses, drs, lab tech, office worker, and cleaning guy while there and everyone was smiling and said things like "hope you feel better, best of luck, you're in good hands, nice nails, you doing okay in here?, I'm right outside If you need anything, how is everything?, I hope you have a nice night...." WOW they had several other patients but made everyone feel super important and priority . They even had a TV in my room with a panic button for the nurse on the remote and bed controls. Very sound proof room to room and they had sliding doors and thick curtains. They sent my steroids and allergy pills to the pharmacist and nicely gave me a shot asking if I was okay. Best er visit ever! I am so impressed. I sincerely hope you never need to go to the er but if you do this one is top notch in the middle of the night /weee hours read more

My wife went in this past weekend for UTI infection, with severe pain. I really would not want to list all the negative we went thru but she was admitted on Saturday night and released on Monday. I truly would like to say something good but it was a pretty bad experience. Doctors may have done average with some coaxing on our part to help her. So thru that and grace of God she is at least home and improving. read more

What a rotten hospital! I'm a middle aged woman with a history of surgery for a meniscus tear. In great pain, I go to the WCA Emergency room. I had to park a long way from the entrance because of construction. A passing good Samaritan offered to go get me a wheel chair, and wheeled me into the emergency room. I told them I was in considerable pain, have a history of meniscus tear and surgery, and have had a recent x-ray. They do another x-ray and tell me there has been no change to my bones in the last couple of weeks. Really, who'd have guessed that? They put a brace on my leg, told me to call my doctor in the morning and showed me the door. I was left on the curb, no place to sit, no offer to call a cab, no wheel chair. I hate to admit it but I started to shake and cry. The security guy went and got me a wheel chair. I was able to get a former neighbor to come and get me. If not for that I guess I'd be laying on the sidewalk waiting for an orthopedic doctor to show up the next day. They gave me a packet of generic information on knee pain. If it gets worse, I should see a doctor. Umm, that's why I went to the emergency room, foolishly thinking there'd be an orthopedic specialist on staff, or on call. I have insurance. Good insurance. I can pay. Call a doctor, that's what I'm here for. Unbelievable. read more

This hospital is a joke....they do nothing for you if you live with chronic pain as I do. At 43 I ended up with spinal stenosis and degenerative disc disease among a few other ailments and now can't even work which I've done since the age of 13. Their bedside manner is seriously lacking and a lot of ppl that go there for simple procedures never leave bc they end up dying! Also a great place to pick up MRSA...be warned and pick another hospital. read more

After being sent to the ER with my husband for an incredibly high blood pressure, by our family doctor, we waited for 7 1/2 hours only to be told that they could not do anything for us and we need to follow up with our family Doctor Who sent us there in the first place. How frustrating not to be able to get some sort of help when you're in need. read more

This emergency room is the worst ever! They are very judgmental and treat you like crap. Even when you have good insurance. Last year they said I didn't have an infection and I actually did. I will never step through their doors again. Last Thursday they did nothing for me. I walked out without being discharged. Go to urgent care your better off. read more
