0 stars if we could A week ago we purchased 2 fish and bunch of plants for our established aquarium of 15 years. I've never had a problem with my fish due to how much effort I put into the tank.. Firstly one of the fish died within 2 days, 2 days after that white spot started to appear on some of our other fish. A week on and all 12 of our fish are dead. Some off our fish we have had for over 10 years these fish are irreplaceable and most worth around 500 dollars each, this has been a terrible experience. We called upmarket pets, this was a complete waist of time, of course as mentioned in previous reviews they just denied any accountability or compassion. I ended up just ending the call it was pointless. Meanwhile we had other pet shops get involved to try to help save the fish with no luck. This operation should be shut down, please read older reviews before you give them you money. They knowingly sell sick animals. Shameful read more

Nice Place. lol. Did we go to the same shop Bear? I have a friend and we went and looked at this shop. Yeah it is hard to notice. I went with a friend who has never owned fish. I have for 35 years............. I really couldn't fault them. The policy of not selling a tank and fish at the same time. Their general attitude. Some (rightly so) , no that is not for you.... (Oscar and some cardinals) I saw your comment, wow. ok. Not my experience. They have continued to help my friend with regular water tests etc, and quite thorough ones at that. I saw this as I was looking for their phone number. They spoke to me on the phone for over 12 minutes, without asking why. We ironed out what I thought may be the issue with my friends tank. They don't have a customer service line, but they do do it. :) read more

I can happily spend hours here looking through the glass tanks at the bizarre animals on show at Upmarket Aquariums. They stock everything from spiders, scorpions and giant stick insects, to snakes, lizards, fish, turtles and eels. I actually took my nephews here to kill some time when I was babysitting and they completely lost it with excitement. I seriously could have spent $20 per ticket taking them to the Melbourne Aquarium and they wouldn't have enjoyed themselves any more than this. Though I have mixed feelings about pet shops in general, for some reason I'm completely fine with the sight of fish, reptiles and insects in tanks and cages. And at Upmarket Aquariums, they actually seem like they've got a pretty decent life. And in terms of the facilities, everything is clean and well maintained. read more

I would like to share my unpleasant experience with Upmarket Aquariums (442 Queen st, Melbourne, vic) regarding to its product failure and unprofessional customer service. On 1st Sep 2013, at 4:55, we bought two Hamanishiki goldfishes at your shop in Victoria Market. There were three Hamanishiki left in the tank, one of your Asian staff member, selected two for us quickly, because you were closed at 5 pm on Sunday. Unfortunately, one of the Hamanishiki was not healthy at all when we arrived home because it swam upside down. I believed it got Swim bladder disease, and it died at the morning of 3rd September 2013. On 4th of October, we came into your shop with the receipt asked on her day off, we were upset and requested for a replacement. However, the staff member rejected us terribly; he also mentioned business only offer ONE DAY WARRANTTEN AND REQUIRED THE DEAD FISH BODY! I have had goldfishes in last five years when I lived in Carlton, me and my many friends have been your good customers, we know that most aquarium business offer SEVEN DAYS WARRANTEEN in Victoria. Beyond that, REQUESTING DEAD FISH BODY is so unprofessional and unreasonable. We were extremely upset and angry for your service today. On 10th of October, after one month communication through Emails with the manager of UA, (Syed), he rejected to replay replace me the item and questioned my gold fish knowledge, the fish pictures, ect. It was more shocking that he TOLD ME OFF, as the manager said to me clearly "WE DON'T WANT YOUR BUSINESS". Basically I am very disappointed about Upmarket Aquariums, which three basic points they did wrong * Fail to keep their fish well, as fish dies straight away as it got bladder disease. * There involved rushing sale and fail to explain the term and condition about warranty as they were rushing to close at that time, moreover, they asked to get dead fish body from as without asking test my water sample or their reasonable condition even we came back on 4th October. * The complaint handling process is extremely poor as they are not providing me a solution and tried to ignore customer, telling customer off, which was extremely disappointing. Guys, I strongly recommend that we should STAY AWAY FROM Upmarket Aquariums, as they don't know how to love customer, how would they know to care about pets? They only know how to make quick and one-off sale, which is unethical and fraud. I acknowledge that this declaration is true experience. Leon read more

Laugh of the century! The name the store gave itself is completely the opposite! It is just a small, dodgy little aquarium near Queen Victoria Market. We were looking to start a Marine Fish Aquarium and was shopping around all of Melbourne to find our regular store coz with Marine Aquarium, you just cant go wrong, it is a very expensive hobby as well as require lots of learning curve esp when one is new to the hobby and customer service/support from your regular Aquarium is a must. Upmarket Aquarium will give you none of the customer service/support that you hope to receive, trust us. They even sold us some dodgy old stock that is not working when we had our first "test" tank! We would highly recommend Fish World Aquarium in Dandenong instead, though we live in Docklands, we are prepared to travel 30km just to get the BEST customer service and after hours support and this you will definitely receive at Fish World Aquarium in Dandenong! read more

The worst place to shop for your fish food and equipmemt. Prices at this shop are sky high compared to any aquarium shop in city and it's surrondings. I was served by this asian man ken wearing a hat trying to sell me products that I do not need with so many wrong advice. No idea about marine fish at all. A bunch of idiots works there who are just trying to steal your money so people please do your homework and go to a shop who does actually know and care rather oversell you the products you do not need. This shop is a total mess as they use rude language (f*** and shit sort of words) tanks full of dead fish reptiles look miserable. I am never going back to this aquarium anymore. This place is so pathetic. read more
