Artwork is a great artsy place that sells 1. cheap (SUPER YAY), 2. local (support local stores, yes), and 3. unique clothes, hats, beanies, bags, pouches, wallets, shoes, and notebooks. Artwork is all about their prints. The designs here are so funky and hip you will not know which to choose. If you're into art and odd and weird then you will love the stuff at Artwork. I got so giddy entering here and went ahead and bought something (I couldn't resist). The shirts are my favorite because they're super comfortable, and you can pair it with any type of bottom and you won't look plain because the designs are so loud and out there. You are literally wearing/holding/writing on/carrying an artwork and I think that in itself is amazing. The designs are all made by hand either transferred or done directly on the fabric. You can come in here with P1000 and come out with at most 5 shirts (they sell tanks for under P200).

The different stores from the Gozum sisters really made my heart flutter when they first launched in the Philippines. Of the three brands they have, YRYS was my favorite. Everything there is so stylish and fashion-forward. Before them, finding a short plaid skirt here was next to impossible. They broke boundaries in an ultra-conservative country and revolutionized the way women dressed. And it's not just the clothes that I really love, it's all the little accessories, too! Suspenders, hats, finger gloves, belts and cool jewelry were available for really affordable prices. Even now that I do dress more conservatively for the sake of my daughter, I often find myself still looking through their display window, reminiscing the old days when I was able to fit in those super short skirts that I loved so much. Here's a tip: watch out for sales, especially when it's midnight madness at the mall. They often slash their prices by more than half. They have racks of clothes marked down to P200 and P300.

They even have Shoebox, for those who need work-appropriate flats. I like their simple designs and good quality. CONS: You may get lost in all the choices and stalls inside, but that's OK. Take your time, fit stuff, and take it all in slowly. That's what I say to myself. Best of all is that everything here is hella cheap for the decent quality. I have bought gifts for friends here more than once, because there's some variety and it's not too hard to find something nice that won't kill your budget. As always, the Japanese really have the science of retail down to the last detail. Recently, Uniqlo has also branched out in creating sportswear and once again, I am a fan. They've got all sorts of leggings, sports shirts, lightweight jackets, jogging pants and so much more. Perhaps what's even better than the abundance of choice that Uniqlo offers is the affordability of their products. Ultimately, it is quality that everyone can afford.

Go back every two weeks or so, so you can spot new items or markdowns on current ones. Old inventory items go into transparent packs at even lower prices, so happy hunting! Also: all retail stores in SM North close at 10pm, but interestingly, Uniqlo stays open till 11 on weekends. If you're waiting for a movie or shopping late (or for an emergency!), Uniqlo might save the day.

PROS: I love buying their blazers and cardigans because they can make my Minnie Mouse shirt and jeans look sharp and meeting-with-the-boss ready. They're not that stuffy too, with this soft stretchy fabric that I don't even have to iron; Their designs are modern and trendy, but can also cater to a huge market - from the titas to the toddlers. Family friendly; I love how attentive and friendly the staff are; Their location is bright and huge. It makes the hours I spend inside, while walking slowly and reading all the labels, easy and calming. CONS: Polo shirts can cost up too P990.00, so Uniqlo's wares are not cheap at all. They make it up for quality though, and they hold sales occasionally. TL;DR: Uniqlo is not exactly cheap, but you definitely get value for your money for quality products and cute designs.
