I've been a chronic pain patient do 45 years. Asked my primary provider to refer me somewhere where I could discuss other options of medication. Possibly reduce or eliminate the narcotics if there was new medications available. I've been on the same medication ans program for the last 15 yr and I'm functional. I made this clear to the provider at Universal and they made a suggestion to try Subutex. I picked it up and followed directions on waiting to start it. Took the first 3 doses 12 hr apart as prescribed. I was very uncomfortable it was not managed my pain. This was the weekend so I was going to call Monday to talk about adjusting the medication as they had said. When I took the 4th dose I had a very bad reaction, felt like I went into full withdrawal. Vomit, hit,cold shakes and headaches for over 2 hr. I was on the verge of calling 911 but got through it. If this had happened when driving or at work I'd have lost my job!!! I called the office first thing Monday ( about 2 hr after the bad reaction, I was still sick). The receptionist would not allow me to speak with any provider to get information about whether I should take the next dose or increase or what to do!!! She wanted to schedule me for an appointment next Avalon about a week !! I pleaded with her that I needed advice on what to do with the meds and what would be safe. She started getting short with me and said just go to urgent care. When I agreed with the provider to make the change she told me we might have to make adjustments but then I can't talk to them. !! I ended up within g another 12-15 hr to start to feel withdrawal again and the started my old meds at 1/2 dose for the first 2 12 hr because I was worried about how they would hit me with the subutex in my system. I took the day off work because I can not go through that at work. I would never recommend universal pain if this s how they operate. I've been in pain management for decades and never been treated this way 0 STARS!!! read more

Unfortunately, Universal Pain Management has become a pill mill and a "factory" for procedures leaving those of us with serious health issues in worse condition than when we started with them. I have Lupus and Ankylosing Spondylitis. I have endured 4 spinal fusion surgeries with excellent surgeons from UCLA to Holy Cross. I am not here begging for meds...I was here for alternatives to that. I.e.acupuncture; massage; epidural, etc. The women at the front desk defy all rules of professionalism and should be working where there are no patient interactions. The quality of care is terrible and I wouldn't refer my worst enemy. I suggest they close their business down and start with fresh outlooks for people coming to them for HELP!!! Please, do not come here and ask your doctor for a new referral. I have been ill for over 15 years and my doctor referred me here. On my first appointment I knew it was NOT GOING TO WORK OUT! The younger woman at the front desk is unspeakably nasty. On my first visit, I waited 90 minutes before seeing anybody. When I inquired why it was taking so long, I got a snippy response and was basically told to sit down and shut up. The following week, I called and asked for an appt asap since I was in severe pain. I was told there had been a cancellation and I should come in a few days later. When I did, they refused to see me and denied they'd ever made the call-! "You didn't receive a confirmation, so you don't have an appt." Really. I had a follow-up appt after my first epidural but it was on the phone... not a good experience. The nurse practitioner was rushed and didn't appear to be listening. My condition worsened later that day and the next, but when I called up the following Monday, the same young woman refused to connect me to the NP, ad said, "Well, you were just here on the __th and you said you were fine" -- implying I was lying or fantasizing. Double really! She will "pass along my msg" and "see what she [the NP] wants to do." Meanwhile the epidural has failed and I'm in real pain. This is not a knock on the other receptionist, who is friendly, nor on the NP, nor on Dr. Sadik, who did my epidural. They seem like competent professionals. That one woman, though, the face of the practice and the person you see when you walk through the door, should not be employed in health care and dealing with people. She is arrogant, dismissive, and in love with her own power. If I don't hear from the NP today, I'll be looking for another pain clinic. HR, I hope you're listening. read more

I just told them I was in so much pain I couldn't walk and bent over to pick something up and completely lost use of my legs and fell hard on the cement of my garage hurting my elbow and head and the lady asked if I was done because she has a call ahead of me she needed to get to. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place anymore. Because they have gone from taking care of patients to taking care of business. They only care about your money. I had an appointment and they called me before the appointment 30 minutes before the appointment to tell me that I had to pay $100 or my appointment would be canceled. So Robin at the billing department told them that I was not going to be getting my prescriptions, prescriptions that I need or I will die without. If I didn't pay at least $50 I've been paying them every month every month for a while. Robin has been taking the money automatically out of my checking account. After collecting from my two insurances I still have to pay more money for the appointments that are usually and have been over the phone. Two months ago the payment didn't go through and then last month I went away so the card needed to be locked. That's why the payment didn't go through. It's a shame how I'm being treated by the people that are supposed to be helping me. read more

The people working at the front desk are very rude and could care less whether you get your medication or not. I had an appointment I thought at 2:30 in the afternoon but apparently it was at 9:30 AM and I left the house this morning without my phone but I new I was going to be home before 2:30. I got home at 1 o'clock and checked my phone and then realized that they had called at 8:30am I called them to try and speak with a doctor, but they said I missed my telemedicine appointment and that I would have to reschedule in 18 days. Today is 8/30/24 my prescription was to be filled in three days and they could care less. This isn't the first time that this has happened. They don't care if you run out or not of your medication and that is unacceptable. You can't just stop taking the kind of medication that I take and probably most people that go to this place. The telemedicine appointments take no more than 10 minutes, but for some reason, they can't even try and fit me in. I am tempted to report them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Dr. Ruth Pinter all the way! UPM Valencia has been, by far, the best pain management facility I've been to. This is because of my doctor there, Ruth Pinter. She has helped me in so many ways, even beyond pain management. She has gone above and beyond for me, and she truly genuinely CARES about her patients! I also have to accredit her for figuring out some new health problems, long before my other doctors did, whereas these countless doctors and specialists strung me along for months, clueless as to what was wrong with me. She troubleshoots, she listens, she asks questions. She is genuinely concerned for her patients and their health and well-being. She is a voice of comfort, reason, sympathy, and knowledge. I look forward to every appointment with her because I know her support and motivation to get better, will be there. I can vouch that her passion in life is helping others. As a patient of 15 years, I have been treating with Universal Pain Management longer than many of the people who work there. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there has been a shift in priority, from personal care of each patient, to an intentional hands off approach, and a focus on profit over treatment. Dramatically Increasing the cost of cash pay appointments, and charging a $210 appointment fee to review labs and radiology, requested by the very treating physician who charged the same fee for a virtual visit a week earlier. When I contacted the office to let them know that my prescriptions were not called in, I was told that they would have to schedule yet another appointment, that would cost me another $210, to determine why the error had been made. Imagine, $630 in a single month for a 15 minute virtual appointment, a review of an MRI that was already read by an anesthesiologist (that already cost $600) and a phone consult to correct a mistake they made. I use to consider Universal Pain Management, it's staff and providers some of the best in Santa Clarita, and have recommended dozens of patients. But after the last year, and especially the last six months, I will never again treat with an office that has chosen profits over patients. It should be noted that, after telling them what they were doing to their patients was wrong, especially concerning charging patients for an error they made and delaying their medications, I was berated by a front office assistant and told no one could help me until the following week. It was very intentional, the delay in resolving a pertinent care issue, and it was finally enough to seek a new pain management provider and hopefully one who has true compassion for those struggling (what seem like) lifetimes in pain. read more

I cannot say enough about Universal Pain Management. The front desk staff are understanding and helpful. Dr. Sadik is the most compassionate person I've ever met. He has a gentle heart and understanding soul. He's also patient when explaining procedures. The scheduling department work with my schedule to get my procedures done as soon as possible. And are wonderful in dealing with my insurance. The back office staff are always great, and are concerned about how I'm feeling. I'm a hard stick and Maria always finds a vein. THAT is more important than caring for a patient. These facilities will usually charge 3 - 5 times less than they charge insurance companies if you pay cash. Imagine.. thinking insurance companies have an endless amount of money. This place will charge over $1000 for initial visit. WHAT? Why not $200 and be happy? God forbid. I will say that these folks are simply amazing. I have been blessed to be working with Dr Cohen and he basically saved me from a life of pure misery. I have never had any issues and by the time my co pay is processed I am being called into the room for visit. I can't Thank Pain Management enough! I had an SI Joint injury left me in EXCRUCIATING PAIN. The Staff is super knowledgeable and caring! I would not have made it without the treatment they provided. Back in March I had cut my leg on my shin, it was cut deep and tore skin off, I went to Urgent Care and they said it was rather severe and needed a surgeon, but the Surgeon they called said they weren't doing these kind of surgeries right now only life threatening because of COVID 19. I was on a phone appointment with Nurse Practitioner Ruth Pinter in mid April and I mentioned it to her and she asked to see it. She said she used to be a wound nurse and on her own, she sent me A care package in the mail with instructions, it was some, across the counter cream and bandages, but more importantly Ruth wrote out instructions on how to apply. And every three days when I would change the bandage it was amazing how things turned around and how it was healing! I am very grateful for her going above and beyond! Next appointment they did it again. We told them that due to moving that the new appointment might not work. Due to the chaos of moving we missed our appointment. We got a bill for $150 for no show. Recently relocated to the Valencia area. Anyone with chronic pain knows how difficult it can be to find a practitioner who will listen and set up a program to HELP your quality of life. This group is anything but helpful. My initial appointment was with a PA. While she did seem compassionate, she immediately reduced my current medication which was working for me. A month later she left the practice and I was given another PA. Very condescending. I was demonized for requesting that I be put back on the original prescription I came in with. It's months later and I'm still being shuffled around while my quality of life has suffered greatly. Their in-house psychologist suggested I find another group when I voiced my complaint to her. Very uncaring. They're all about their bottom line and won't hesitate to make you suffer in pain. read more

After being treated by another Pain Management Company in Valencia for over 10 years, I was not being taken seriously regarding my chronic back pain. So I transferred to Universal Pain Management with Dr. Shahin Sadik as a Pain Mgmt. Specialist. This company does extensive one time assessment on new patients including background history, medical records, psychological tests, drug tests and special test to see if an individual is a drug seeker and if they are exaggerating their pain for secondary gains. This is the first Pain Mgmt. company that I have been to that is EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL, THOROUGH, GENUINE AND CARING. After reading some of the other low star comments about this Company, I am thinking that they sure must be thinking of another place because in the few months that I have been seen and treated for chronic sharp, low back pain, with chiropractic modalities with Dr. Omid Mahgerefteh, D.C.; my sharp pain that I have had in my left lower back, into my buttock, left hip and down my left leg, numbing my left foot subsided. I had a l5-S1 fusion over 13 years ago and had not had that kind of pain since prior to surgery. I would recommend the Valencia, CA Universal Pain Mgmt. Company in a nano second. If you just want to be drugged or not want to put effort into doing your part in getting back to a quality life, then don't go here. They are in business to heal and help those who really are in pain and are serious about getting their life back due to pain. read more

I have been to see Dr. Villanueva several times for my migraine headaches. He has done absolutely nothing. I've been waiting almost 2 months for my Botox injections to get authorized and he had me take a balance test which I failed, but he's done nothing about it. He filled out my disability forms and they were rejected because they were incomplete. I don't know about the other doctors at Universal, but this one is very green. Not sure if he even did an internship yet. A total waste of time and money!! read more
