All of a sudden negative reviews? What is with all the positive reviews posted the same day across multiple sites? I think damage control because of all the empty promises and cashed checks an nothing delvered. Here are some facts for you: Unistar has not updated their website since May and nothing new on their Facebook page since July. So all of these so called positive reviews posted here by Sammi, Sandy, Jen, Amanda, Jessica, Amy, Ginny, Amy M, Elise do not reflect anyone that is featured on their website. Where are you on the site? The BBB rating. They are currently at a D+, up from a recent F. Wow. 5 complaints in a year and also, if you look closely, three different business addresses. Why do you keep moving? The unanswered phone calls. The phone rolls to voice mail all the time and the calls are not returned. Same for email. You might get lucky and get an out of office responder from one of them, but that is it. So, hopefully Santa will deliver a lump of coal to them tomorrow if he can find them. Make sure you perform due dilligence on all the principals of this company and their business histories before you write a check and sign on the dotted line. read more

One well known major agency and several others. The one that stood out was Unistar talent. I met with Elena the owner and she made me feel so comfortable with the process. Since my pictures were 4 years old I needed new ones for my comp card and portfolio. I spoke with several professional fashion photographers in Dallas about shooting me, but by the time I paid for the photographer and makeup artist I was looking at almost $1800. I was very concerned about paying an agency to do the photos, as I've read about the problems people have when doing that. I finally decided to have Elena do the photo shoot and I made such a good decision. From beginning to end the shoot was so professional and my pictures are amazing. Elena said it was "art", and it really is. A good photographer means everything in the modeling business. I got my comp cards in this week and I am so pleased. I highly recommend Unistar. read more

I've seen some of the negative reviews that have been posted by "Hickster" and the same postings under other names across the internet. Obviously this person has a vendetta against the agency as this has been a organized effort to defame the agency. While things haven't gone as smoothly as I expected all in all I am satisfied with the agency and their efforts. I modeled in St. Louis where I grew up and I joined Unistar back in March after moving to Dallas. I didn't get my photo shoot until June, partly my fault because of scheduling. Then I finally got my comp cards in September. So far I've been on a number of castings and got my first job in October for a local magazine layout. This is tough business and very competitive. Every model is different and has a different look and it's up to a casting agent to pick you - it's one in a 1000 chance. My agency in St. Louis would submit my e-card and would only get call backs on about 5% of submissions. My first year in St. Louis I got no work, because I did not have experience. So I am very thankful of what Unistar has been able to get me so far. read more

I had never modeled before but was always told by my friends that I had the look. I contact Elena at Unistar Talent and we met. I didn't have any professional pictures. She told me that she thought I had potential but wanted me to have some good quality pics done so she could make a final determination. I have a friend that is a professional photographer and she took several pics of me. I met with Elena again showed her my pics and she offered to sign me. I was hesitant since this was a new agency. In August I signed and am very please thus far. We did a private on-location photo shoot and my pictures came out great and my comp cards are even better. I'm 21 and the "jock" type. I was always told that I should be a male model, but felt that it was more of a lady's business. I finally got the courage up to find out more. A friend of mine had recently signed up with Unistar talent after meeting with several Dallas agencies. He told me that Elena, the owner was great and he was very happy. I decided to give it a shot and met with her. He was right. I was very nervous about this process and didn't know what to expect. She made me feel very comfortable. The shoot was like a major production from the photographer to the makeup artist to Elena being there on every shot. I got to see my pictures within 3 weeks and just got my comp cards in this week. I'm 20 and I recently moved to DFW from Atlanta where I have been a successful fashion model for the past 2 years and represented by an Agency. I have been interviewing agents here in DFW for the past 6 months. I met Elena at UniStar in February and was impressed with her knowledge and background in the industry. As a result I signed with UniStar. I just needed a few pictures to update my comp card and portfolio and she did that for me and didn't even charge for the photo shoot. I recently moved to Dallas to attend UTD from Oklahoma City where I modeled in high school. My agent there had recommend UniStar, as she knows Elena. I signed with UniStar in June and was expecting my photo shoot in July. I was dissapointed for the delay, but understood as Elena had a family situation in Ukraine which took her away for several weeks. However, In October, we did the shoot and I got my comp cards two weeks ago - all I can say is outstanding! I went on my first casting on Monday and got a call back today! I'm so excited. I was recently contacted by the Mother of model of Unistar who is very disgruntled. I have seen where rather than addressing her issues with the Agency, she decided to take a public forum and post negative information, of which I am totally disgusted. UniStar Talent has been very easy to work with and very professional. While it took a little longer than I expected, the photo shoot was great, my pictures very good and my zed cards turned out great. I've been on just a few castings, but Elena told me up front it would be slow the first year. I highly recommend Unistar. read more

I fully agree with Nunya and Monsters. The experience with this 'agency' has not been a good one either. They do not respond to emails or phone calls and make a lot of empty promises while depositing the check. The other thing that is interesting is that the filtered reviews posted on this site are exactly the same as on other sites and posted the same date. IMHO, that says that they are all written by the same person and cross posted by copy and paste. If they are asking for money up front for anything, politely say no and walk away Just sayin. read more

Why all the negative? Because they fail to live up to their end of the deal. It is comical that the five star review seems to parrot Cat M about things being written by the same person as that seems to be the case with all the positive reviews. Funny that Sammie should post right after a negative. Hmmmm To back up the negative: Model board has not changed since May. I don't see any of the positive posters listed under any division. I was a teen model when I was 14-17 and was with another Dallas agency. At 22 I decided to get back into the biz. I contacted Elena at UniStar. I was very impressed by her background and experience and signed with her. We scheduled the photo shoot, which was very professional and the pictures were outstanding. We chose five for my comp card and UniStar produced my cards. I've been on several castings and just got my first job this week. I don't know what it is with all of the sudden negative posting about Unistar. It looks to me like it is one person using several different names. All I can tell you is that I have been 100% satisfied with Elena and her company. I signed with them back in May of this year. My phone shoot was in June and I got my comp cards in August. The photos and cards were more than I expected, as I had never done this before. I've been on a few castings but no jobs yet :). read more

As a former vendor, I cannot recommend this company at all. I have been waiting for a payment for services rendered on June 10, 2012 and continually receive no answer. They did say that it was sent back in December, but the check was never received and the photocopy send via email was incorrectly made out and for the wrong amount. Since asking for a corrected check, I am continually ignored. All I can say is stay away/ read more

My personal review as a previous client is that the agency has failed to meet any obligations in the contract. The photo shoot was professional though I have not received any comp cards nor any interviews or bookings in over eight months. I have paid and received nothing. Ownership/management has failed to address concerns despite repeated requests. It has not been a pleasant experience nor would I refer this agency. read more
