There was a miscommunication and I was concerned why my son was not offered to go on the field trip. And when my spouse decided to talk to Callie on the phone, she wouldn't let her get a word out and was bullying her. So we hung up on her because we couldn't get a word in and she was being extremely rude. Then the next day I get an email saying my children are No longer able to attend South Walton Academy because they cannot accommodate. It's interesting because you were able to accommodate since the beginning of the school year and take my money with no problem. I also asked for half of my money back for the month of March because I paid full month of tuition for my younger child. I also have not heard anything back about the remainder of these funds. I have NEVER NEVER Received any communication with them regarding my son's care plan. I gave them a copy of the care plan before he started school and I'm never received any updates regarding it. When I ask how his day was the only responses I hear are he had a good day. And the only constructive feedback I had received was him getting out of his seat most of the times while they are eating. So if the school did try to contact me regarding his care, plan updates, I would love to see the emails or phone calls trying to contact me. Do not send your kids to the school. There was also an additional mishap where she had to close the school because the school couldn't get their funding together and this has been an ongoing issue for 3 years now. She did not tell anyone or warn anyone till it was too and the day after CHRISTMAS.. And now my child is having to suffer because the owner does not want to deal with conflict. The owner stated that the school did not shut down however it did. Over half of the staff is gone because they did not get paid and majority of the students are gone as well. I should have followed them. Do not send your children to the school. Yes I did happen 2 cuss on Feb 7th and not a week ago however I did apologize. I also have not been rude to any staff member. The only one that I was rude to in accident was Jennifer through email which was a frustration talk to text that I had accidentally sent and sent an email. There has been no harassment from myself to the staff members. I received one email from Callie regarding my message to Jennifer. And I apologize to them both. I actually really enjoyed everyone and when I expressed my concerns, my child gets kicked out of school. I also waited for Callie yesterday morning when I was getting ready to drop my son off and waited and waited for her and she never showed up but decided to send me an email. I also have never signed or received a policy or a handbook guide from South Walton. Long story short do not send your kids here if you plan on sticking up for them. You cannot have a face-to-face adult conversation with these people because if you have any negative concern, they will kick you out and exile you. They took my review down off of Google because if most of you don't know you can as a business owner have Google reviews deleted or paid to have deleted.

RBCS seemed like a quality school - their admissions…read moredepartment made me feel welcome and made the school seem excellent academically. However, I had three problems: 1. The talent development program (presented as special education) is not special education. The instructors don't need to have education degrees and get on-the job training and seminars on specific general education topics. The only difference I saw is smaller class size (yay) and slower speed: they use the same material as other schools but go slower. The students didn't seem to get other resources including no sustained reading specialist intervention (it's only a short term intervention if staff feels it'll help). 2. Responsiveness to concerns: several administrators dismissed our educational concerns, asking us to trust their process. But their process involved much less actual educational teaching than other area schools. 3. Discipline: admissions stressed that their discipline system hasn't changed in 50 years. It showed. The system in elementary school involves a dozen or so red-letter items (in the blood of Jesus) and a similar number of black-letter (sinful) items. The discipline system is absolutely equated with moral/ Christ-like behavior. Children are frequently admonished about their "red" or "black" behavior. Lots of kids show anxiety about this. A lot of parents stated concern. My kid had daily issues over this to the point of needing medical intervention. The problems resolved when we switched schools. This was one experience - it may fit well for others. But I recommend asking lots of very specific questions before choosing RBCS.

She works on the areas of greatest need with him, helping him learn new tools to tackle his most challenging subjects with greater confidence. Julie also helps us reinforce any areas in which we may want him to get extra practice. Our son is much more receptive when "Ms. Julie" asks him to do it! There's no other non-profit center within hundreds of miles of Okaloosa County that provides such a wide variety of high quality therapy and education services for children with autism. The Emerald Coast Autism Center (ECAC) is absolutely outstanding. They opened with just a small staff in 2009, and in less than four years have grown to become the largest private provider of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy and ABA-based education in the State of Florida. Over 20 percent of the families who've enrolled their children in ECAC's full-time program moved here from outside the state of Florida, specifically for that purpose. Two of those families moved to the Niceville area from outside the United States, and are living here on Visas, to ensure their child gets the therapy services they need. ECAC accepts children with the most difficult autism-related behaviors. And seven of their full-time students have already graduated out of the Center's full time program and are now attending other schools around the country, being educated in classrooms of "typically developing" students. I know a number of parents who made other choices and ended up moving their child to ECAC after becoming frustrated with their previous ABA provider. Experts in the field say that early intervention and intensive ABA therapy gives a newly diagnosed child the best chance of being able to live as "normal" a life as is possible. Because every month lost with a with a "marginal" ABA provider reduces a child's chances for success it's critical to make your first decision a the correct decision, when selecting an ABA provider. I do not have a child with autism. But I know a number of parents who do. If I had a child on the spectrum I wouldn't even speak to another provider until I've visited the Emerald Coast Autism Center, and spoke to their director.
