I bought one, but also found that the bookstore was very large, had a number of things that I was surprised to find, including a book on sailing in the Adriatic. Spent most of a rainy day here. Steeped in history. Great view of the Gulf of Trieste and…read moresurrounding area. We purchased tickets for a photography exhibit here. The works of Robert Capa were on display. We were mesmerized by his photos taken in Italy during WW II. There are also several interactive things to do. We decided to have lunch here since it was pouring and were compelled to return to the photo exhibit. Alinarimage has computer set up at the exhibit so you can scroll through thousands of photos of Italy. If you see something you like, you can have it emailed to you at no cost.

This is a nice spot for a walk and the boats all docked beside it are a good distraction from…read morepeople watching, but in general this canal is going to be disappointing if you have been to somewhere like Venice or Amsterdam who have real canals. I still think you should go along, but just be aware that it is tiny and is only going to fill 5 minutes of your time. You are probably best to visit but then go into one if the pubs or restaurants around it for some drinks or food and to watch the world go by. Pleasant spot, but nothing fantastic.
