These shares are sourced from Garden of Eve Farm in Riverhead, NY (Long Island). Meat and Cheese shares are also available and are from High Point Farms in Ithaca, NY. This CSA represents a great community of people who help run the season all year, and work together especially hard during pickup times from June through November. The quality of everything has been spectacular, even in challenging farm seasons. And in case you are asking....What is a CSA? Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) consists of a way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer. Members buy a "share" of the farm's produce which helps cover the anticipated costs of the farm operation and pay the farmer a living wage. In return, members receive shares in the farm's bounty throughout the growing season, as well as satisfaction gained from participating directly and helping build a more local and equitable agricultural system.

I come across this "Health Food Herb Center" touting "meatless deli" to which I respond with a dash to the door. Upon walking in to this mysteriously [almost] meatless grocer/deli, I am in awe of their grocery options. Frozen mock meats (yes, an entire Thanksgiving faux turkey!), herbs/spices, cookies, teas, pastas, all sorts of incredible things! Then I get back to the deli counter, I was a little confused at first because there was some standard Boars Head fair. BUT ALAS, up in the top left corner, large deli-style loaves (I don't think that's what they're called but I'm going with it) or turkey, corned beef and salami. I opted for the salami, the lovely lady behind the counter let my try it first and my mouth erupted with salty, smokey flavor close enough to meet that I was beyond satisfied but not too close that I was hesitant. She LOADED my wrap with salami, carrots, onion, beets (shredded, she promised I wouldn't be able to taste them and she was not wrong), cabbage, vegenaise, oregano and cayenne pepper. There are very few things within the vegan spectrum that I salivate over, this was within the top 10. I grab a handful - okay 9 - of the various cookies and am on my way back to the office. Unwrapping this masterpiece had me as giddy as Jim Gaffigan when he eats bacon, there is some hardcore food envy from my non-vegan desk neighbors. The wrap was full of fresh, vibrant flavors, I could not be more thankful that this gem exists. These guys will make me look forward to coming to this office every single time now.

They carry a great selection of indoor plants, outdoor plants, herbs, flowers, and even larger specimen plants that can be hard to find elsewhere. They also sell cute pots and vases. Every week or so they have new varieties of plants. Depending on the day most of their plants are either inside or outside! Maria is also incredibly kind. Even though there are places that sell flowers closer to me, I make a point to come here because I genuinely enjoy supporting this business. When I've had healthy plants that I no longer had room for, they've been happy to take them and give them a new home. It's clear they care about both plants and the local community. Over the years I've purchased a Monstera Thai Constellation, a huge Philodendron Jungle Boogie, variegated pineapple mint, satin pothos, a large mature Ming aralia tree, variegated thyme, morning glories, and more. I've also seen beautiful varieties of marantas, calatheas, rose bushes, mandevillas, hydrangeas, snake plants, succulents, cacti, trees, carnivorous pitcher plants, philodendrons (pink princess, brazil,, anthuriums, ficus (ruby variegated rubber tree), begonias, scindapsus pictus (including the exotica), pothos, anthuriums, money trees, aglonemas, alocasias, peperomias, colocasias, tradescantia, pileas, monsteras and many other plants.
