Stylist refused to cut my hair. Never happened to me before. DO NOT BOOK AMY!! when my appoitment finally started, she grilled me about exactly what I wanted every strand of my hair to look like, and after a very uncomfortable 20 min of me trying to explain what I wanted and asking her advice (and her refusing to give it) she basically said she had no idea how to cut my hair and I should probably leave. she also shaded me by implying that I don't take care of my hair because it is curly and frizzy, so that was a nice bonus way to be treated horribly as a PAYING CUSTOMER!! So I did leave, and I won't be coming back! Hope Amy and Union Salon got what they wanted, which was refusing to service a client and then kicking her out! I called to make an appt earlier this month. From the start the receptionist was really rude, stating that I had missed an appt last year and I had to give them my cc in order to secure the appt I was trying to make. I was totally cool with it, but she was just not happy with me.. Anyways, came to the appt. and I told the stylist I don't want them to wash my hair because I have a sensitive scalp. Now I've been to the other union salon and other places and the stylists have always been gracious with just spraying my hair with water and styling it after. No big deal, my hair is also clean so there's never been an issue. This specific stylist said it was fine and that she'll just cut it dry and not wet it. Says it's going to be $100. I'm hesitant because I've always had it cut and styled everywhere I go, and pay at or around this amount. Good to note that the other union salon i went to, the stylist had to do a more complex cut and still ended up styling it for 120. She was also a highly rated stylist at that specific location. Anywayyyys stylist cuts my hair, dry. Takes like 20 minutes. It really felt as if she just didn't want to Style it as it was later in the evening and she was kinda sluggish. But I thanked her for the cut, and told her it did feel lighter and much better than before. Left a tip and on my way I went. Then the next day I showered blow dried my hair and realized it was a hot mess. Uneven in so many places. I knew it was going to end up like this but I'm just too nice sometimes, and people can take advantage of that. Lesson learned, never coming to this location again. Ripped me off completely. read more

Erika Babayan is the best hair stylist there. Her cut and color skills are exceptional! Never once has she fried my hair with bleach, or left me any less than satisfied. She truly has mastered the skill and technique of achieving a nice naturally blended color. I would honestly not trust anyone else with my hair. This is the most unprofessional salon I've ever been to. I had an appt with JESSICA PROULX, showed up on time, waited for 15 minutes, then was told with no warning that they had to cancel my appointment! I had to sit through 1 hour of rush hour traffic, pay for parking, wait another 15 mins in the lobby, and it was all a COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME! The front desk lady said Jessica accidentally overbooked...she did NOT offer an apology or seemed the least bit remorseful! Also, keep in mind that THERE IS NO FREE PARKING ANYWHERE, if you're considering going to this salon. Horrible service, I will never come back and highly do NOT recommend this spot. read more

My bestie and I decided to get haircuts together. She has visited union salon at their fair oaks location in the past and suggested we make appointments here. Since it was my first time here, I wasn't sure who to designate as my stylist and was assigned a stylist named Nick. So happy with the outcome of my new hair! He first started with a consultation to get an understanding of the look I was going for. Then directed me to the shampoo station. The hospitality is terrific and the ambiance of the salon is great. My stylist was friendly and easy to talk too however my haircut was terrible. She literally shaved off all the hair on the sides not matching the level of hair left on the back which was also shaved. i walked out of there looking like Bart Simpson. She even laughed at the outcome. So embarrassing being out in public. I think she just misunderstood , even though i showed her a picture. I came in for a difficult bleach and tone after letting my hair grow out for 7 months during COVID, and he was able to expertly match my previous level in one process with no damage, and the resulting color after toning was absolutely perfect. This salon is a well hidden gem. From the outside, the salon appears to be tiny, but it is huge and filled with great energy. I received a phone call the day before my appointment, which was wonderful because I am known to be forgetful. Darlene E. colored my hair and the process was calming and relaxing. She is very professional, friendly, and communicates extremely well with her clients. I had an old brown balayage in my hair from last summer and Darlene was able to darken my hair to one color! I couldn't be any happier with the outcome! Cinthya was very patient and listen to my concerns in my consultation with her. She made lots of suggestions and took her time to address my needs. Keeping the hair healthy is most important to me and she is up front about the damage would cost with different options. Like bleaching to blonde may cause certain damage and taking the color too far may look dry.....etc. I end up wanting to wait for my hair to settle a little bit before the next big change.
