Usually an ok fish and chip shop but just had a terrible experience tonight. I ordered a large chips and was told I would have to wait for chips. Nothing out of the ordinary there and it usually means you get some fresher chips. I noticed the lady working there scraping the remainder of the previous batch of chips to one side as the new chips were fried. After almost 10 minutes wait another customer came in and ordered some chips and she was also told there was a wait. A further 2 or 3 mins later my chips were served and given to me and, when I got home, upon opening I discovered the portion size was very small and the chips were almost cold. Clearly what had happened was I had been given the small amount of cold chips from the previous batch regardless of my wait for the new batch. Needless to say that by the time I got home they were cold, chewy and in very small number. I used to work in a kitchen myself and know what chips that have been fried in 180 degree oil should be like.
Thanks union jack fish and chips. I see more regular customers get priority over new ones and I shall not be using you again. read more
