I've made 4 Test Runs at Uneeda Burger - plus a 5th visit with the whole family, and it all started out with The Classic 1/4lb (Painted Hills Natural Ground Beef) Burger with Cheddar Cheese served with all the usual suspects - lettuce, sliced tomato, red onion, pickles, and a touch of horseradish sauce mixed in with the mayo. I love horseradish with beef and Uneeda Burger does this perfectly. As a former chef for over 20 years I can't even think of having or serving a nice steak without horseradish. Uneeda Burger owner Scott Staples, is the first person since Wolfgang Puck's horseradish kissed coleslaw - to find my tongue and palate so happily surprised with the "H". So on to my second trip, I asked if I could get The Classic but with a 1/3lb burger patty also with cheddar cheese. Third trip was with 2- 1/4lb burger patties (1/2lb total precooked weight) with cheddar, Fourth visit was back the first; with The Classic 1/4lb (Painted Hills Natural Ground Beef) Burger topped with cheddar cheese. On my fifth trip I brought down my family, and I ordered the Classic again but with Kobe beef - a little more expensive and perhaps a little better burger in some ways. But here is my analysis to date, the 1/4lb Classic is perfect, especially with cheddar. As much as I do like the old school messy burgers that drip all over you, both the 1/3 pound and 1/2 pound suffered slightly from the bottom bun on each burger getting too wet - too fast, I call these - upside down burgers, because you need to flip them upside down to actually eat them. Uneeda Burger has lots of napkins so it's not a problem, but if you want a perfect burger, a hand made - from all natural ground beef - go with The Classic for starters. They also have a large selection of different style burgers, including one made with lamb, and another for vegetarians, which my wife had and said was delicious. I deliver meat to Paseo a block away and try to eat at Uneeda Burger when I can, they also have Thomas Kemper Root Beer on draught - which is great if you have some under 21 friends or family. After visiting Uneeda Burger on Fat Tuesday, two major things happened: 1) I have not since had any fried food. It's not like I'm religious or anything - quite the opposite, actually - but Lent is a good excuse to quit vices and I'm getting a little bit soft in the mid-section. 2) I have downgraded my Lunchbox Laboratory score to 3 stars instead of 4. Uneeda's setting is a lot of fun. They've retained a lot of the feel of an old car garage without the dust or oil stains or potentially hazardous fumes. I can't wait to try this place in warmer weather because their outdoor seating looks absolutely heavenly. And, they had the piece de resistance that seems to draw me to high-end burger joints: a big chalkboard full of house specialties and ingredients! Being a mushroom fiend, I ordered the mushroom burger with truffle salt and all I can say is...well, I can't say anything because I'm masticating overly large chunks of mouthwateringly delicious hamburger. No time to talk! It was a great balance of flavors and though the inclusion of truffle salt may run the risk of pushing the burger over the edge to "too rich," it was balanced out well enough by the sauce and the simple bun. I also ordered a side of waffle fries (crave-worthy) and had an opportunity to try the onion rings (ZOMG!). I topped it all off with a few sips of an oreo milkshake that was too thick to eat without a spoon - any more than a few bites and I would have exploded, just like the guy in the Monty Python skit. I hate comparing restaurants, but there are a lot of parallels between Uneeda Burger and Lunchbox Laboratory, so I can't help it: both offer hamburgers topped with a myriad of foods that one would consider to be exotic and/or gourmet, they are similarly priced, both serve various sides, both seem to embrace American excess, both serve milkshakes, and both allow you to wash your meal down with beer. Side-by-side, Uneeda Burger wins. I'd say that the hamburgers are equally good between the two restaurants, but Uneeda Burger produces significantly tastier sides (and they even offer poutine!!!!), and they have a much better selection of microbrews for the beer snobs that seem to have concentrated in the Pacific Northwest. Finally, the difference in service between the two restaurants is night and day. You do order cafeteria-style at Uneeda Burger, but the lovely girl who took our orders was pleasant, engaging, polite, and genuinely excited to hear our opinions toward the food. Uneeda Burger? Uneeda Burger is a great local place. My friend recently moved into a near by apartment so we're checking out all the food joints within walking distance. This place was definitely nice on a nice warm afternoon! The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is due to seating. They definitely need more seating. On top of the seating issue, I felt that there needed to be a server assigning seating because there would be two people at a huge table, and when it's self seating and limited seating this can cause an issue. I think they could fit in more two / three person tables if they were creative. The food was definitely tasty - Loved the fries! Alright... So I thought I would try this place out again once they have settled in a bit. It was a much better experience. I ordered a double patty Philly smash. The Burger patties seemed much larger than my last experience. I actually had to pull one of them off because it was too big for me to tackle in one meal. The burger was a bit greasey, but it was the good kind of juices coming out from the patty. The beef was much better than I had experienced before. I think that I may have seen a note on the register that they were out of the painted hills beef but had another natural substition. If that is the case... Please don't use that painted hills crap again. It was so grizzley the last time that I had it. The peppers, and onions had so much flavor I was actualy excited about this place. Finally a great burger in Seattle! Now this reminds me of the gourmet burgers in DC! I got the mushroom and black truffle salt burger and it was great! Handcut french fries cooked in canola oil are super salty and terrific. No waffle fries anymore as stated on the menu :( Plenty of beer, wine, and milkshakes are available. Only downside for some may be that the burgers are cooked to medium so there's some pink showing. The level of done-ness varied between our group of 5. Not sure if you can ask for it to be cooked to your preference. Even during the lunch hour the food was delivered to our table pretty quick, although the line to order was long. I love burgers, and this is definitely one of the best burger places in Seattle. The burgers are big and delicious, the menu is large, and all of their burgers are creative but not to the point that they seem pretentious. I always get some sort of a BBQ burger with jalapenos, and the one I got there was perfect. I couldn't really ask for anything more in a burger. The highlight though was actually my girlfriend's burger. She got the Medi-terra burger. It's a lamb burger that was amazing, but the best part was that it comes with tempura lemons on it. I have never had such an interesting and delicious topping on a burger. Try the Medi-terra burger and you will not be disappointed. The only reason I can't give Uneeda Burger 5 stars is the price. While I understand that for the size and quality of the burgers you can't really price any of the items cheaper, it is a bit expensive and that makes it a place that isn't practical for me to eat at on a usual basis. But I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good burger and can't wait to go back. read more

My wife and I are burger enthusiasts and try to sample burgers wherever and whenever we can. We read about Uneeda burger so we gave it a try. In my expert burger opinion, I would have to say that Umami is better. The portions here at Uneeda are no doubt better but the quality has to go to the LA and Orange County (50/50 or G Burger) burger joints I give Uneeda a 4-Star because like I said, I likes me my burgers!!! read more

My first night in Seattle, my friend and I came to Uneeda Burger in Fremont since we had heard and read raved reviews about this place. I typically am not a huge burger fan, but I definitely enjoy a good, juicy burger every now and then. Uneeda Burger definitely did not disappoint. We both ordered BBQ Smash burgers, which was a part of their "Signatures" menu. The burger had charred onions, bacon, cheddar, and was smothered in sweet and tangy BBQ sauce. Anyone who knows me fairly well, knows that I am obsessed with BBQ sauce - or actually, pretty much anything BBQ flavored. It's my weakness. My kryptonite. I can put it on anything and it will likely make it taste a bajillion times better. The flavors in this burger was awesome. The patty was juicy and the bacon with the BBQ sauce made it extra special. Salty and sweet. My favorite. Unfortunately, fries do not come with your burger so you'd have to order that a la carte. They weren't anything to write home about, though. Just your average fries. It isn't a must-must try. But it's good. Try it if you're in the area. read more

Crimini mushroom burger was incredible, particularly with the grass-fed beef (medium rare)! Buffalo chicken sandwich was the perfect blend of spicy and cool. Fried cheese curds super nummy, and shakes were out of this world (black & blue and salted caramel)! In fact everything we ate was amazing, the perfect meal! This is a great burger. I got the BBQ burger and fries. Total price was about $15 after tip. This burger was delicious, I'm craving one as I write this. it was crunchy, sweet, and tangy. Hot through and through. The bacon was thick AND crunchy (which is a huge bonus for me). The fried and sauteed onions were the fantastic it really gave a solid crunch to the burger. The fries were ok, good but not great. I wouldn't get them again, the burger is good enough. The only thing I didn't like was there was no kick with the BBQ sauce. I was expecting a smokey style BBQ sauce. It's very sweet, I wish they could balance out that sweet flavor with some pepper jack cheese (I will get that next time) or a little kick to it.
