It requires a car to reach as it…read moreis situation in the small town of Gargas but once there is it easy to ride to local towns or walk to the beautiful Roussillon for the Wednesday morning market. Pulling up to the gated doorway to La Mas Jorel we were welcomed by the charismatic Marc. We were lost for words at the stunning accommodation, fountains, wheelbarrows dripping with flowers, le chat x3, hammocks, vines and a pool with day beds, couches - the works. There were repeated exclamations of 'shut up' this is not happening to us. It is THE highlight of our honeymoon, without doubt. Marc immediately took us under his wing and gave us an itinerary for the three days of our stay. He informed us of hidden towns, places that might be heavy with tourists and the best local food and wine. We obliged his enthusiastic choices and were thrilled with everything he suggested. The walk along the path to Roussillon was a highlight as was the foraging for baguettes and Verve Clique (bought for 32 euro at Gordes) which we ate for dinner by the pool. Simple, earthy perfection. Gorgeous bed and breakfast!…read more Decor: With an airy hillside view of the mountains, Colorado cliffs, and Sentier des Ochres de Roussillon, this view is hard to beat! It also has a pool, a few metres down the hill, so one can enjoy a nice refreshing swim, day or night, while overlooking the cliffs. Inside, the rooms were nice. Comfortable beds. All rooms were separated by curtains (including toilet area, sink/shower area, and the space between the 2 couple's rooms). Service: Claire was an incredibly sweet, friendly host with several recommendations as to where to explore, visit, and eat. She was very detailed, only in naming towns we should go to, but also where we should go in those towns, and what places would be good to eat there. The breakfasts consisted of cheeses, meats, French bread, yoghurts, fruits, a fruit juicer, and a selection of at least 15-20 teas. There's also an incredibly sweet, well-behaved puppy (2 years at the time of writing) who doesn't beg, but loves to play fetch (with a tennis ball, pine cone, you name it)! You just duck down and she (usually) just drops it towards you, so you can throw it. All in all, a wonderful place to visit that goes out of its way to make the customers happy and feel right at home!

The room I stayed in "côté jardin" was clean and comfortable. I appreciated the silence. The hosts are really nice and helpful. The breakfast included home made fruits spreads, locally produced grappe juice, fresh baguettes and croissants from the local baker. For a base to explore the Luberon region, Very strongly recommended.
