We engaged with Blake Nichol to buy a property: we are Canadians based in the USA. In our…read moreengagement email we indicated the funds would be wired from a US bank. Half way through the process we were told "we can't accept funds from the US." We were surprised, but they insisted, going as far as "We have to ask the Law Society if we can accept US funds. We have no idea how long it will take." That seemed strange to us, so we asked another Lawyer who said, "We'll do the the transaction, no problem. We do it all the time." So, we told Blake Nichol that we would not use them, as they were unable to provide the service we originally requested. But, they _insisted_ on billing us for "services to date", although from the first email we'd told them it was a US bank transfer. We should have charged them for wasting out time, not the other way around. Don't use this lawyer: they don't know what they are doing, and they will nickel and dime you, even if they are in the wrong.

I hired David Chow for an IRS Fail I was given tickets for this past year. I had not been drinking…read moreand driving, and David ensured he was through with all of the information he presented. The IRS in Alberta consists of very new laws, and many lawyers are very unfamiliar with the new laws pertaining to the IRS Fail. David was very honest on his expectations of whether I would be found innocent of the charges or not, as well as very to the point in relaying the information he required from me, the processes he was using, updates when they occurred and the final results. His communication was professional and polite, as well as very honest. I had contacted approximately 7-8 different lawyers fro the free consultations, and I found some lawyers did not. listen to my story of events, cutting me off and making me feel that my voice was not being heard. This lessened my confidence in their ability as my lawyer, because I felt they did not have all the facts of my situation due to a lack of actively listening. This is not the case with David. He attentively listens, clarifies information, and then paraphrases your statement back to you, both verbal and written. This guy is amazing! The end result of my IRS Fail was it was thrown out, both for the seizure of my vehicle and the IRS Fail. I was found innocent of all charges. After David performed his job, with exceptional results, I had other questions and he still; followed up with me! He could have easily been like other lawyers, and just been like "I got paid, I did my job, no follow questions are needed to eat up my time." But David, answered any additional questions I had, was polite, and professional. He has a good sense of humour and is realistic in his approaches. If you want a lawyer that is passionate about his job, passionate about excelling for his clients and will do everything in his power to assist you in the best way possible, with honesty and integrity, David Chow is your lawyer. He is intelligent, professional, honest and goes the extra mile. If he feels he could not help you, he will be straight up and tell you that. He is a phenomenal lawyer; the best. I am so glad I went with David Chow over the other 8 lawyers I called.

Before retaining Mr. Akram, I had a different counsel who did absolutely nothing to advance my case. He attended court on my behalf seven times, and each time, he simply informed me that it had been adjourned. A friend's lawyer referred me to Mr. Akram, and I am forever grateful for that recommendation. Mr. Akram handled my case with complete professionalism, competence, and effectiveness. During our first meeting, he listened attentively, asked precise questions, and clearly explained the process. He kept me updated on what he was doing throughout. When he called to tell me that my matter was resolved, I cried--I couldn't believe it, especially since other lawyers had said it would take at least two months. Mr. Akram, words fail me, but I am incredibly grateful to you. People, I know how difficult and frustarting to deal with the legal system so having a skilled lawyer makes all the difference. If you need a lawyer who will handle your matter with integrity and effectiveness, look no further.
