I received a BOGO through email when these guys first opened and of course BOGO being my middle name, I jumped on this. Ordered: oreo, pumpkin, original, strawberry, and matcha. I got oreo 2 different times and they both tasted and looked different. Not sure what that's about but there needs to be some consistency. The first time, when I cut a slice, the oreo was sprinkled and layered everywhere but the taste wasn't as strong. The second time, the oreo was more concentrated in certain areas, so you have pockets of oreo which I enjoy more. I also loved the strawberry flavored ones. The cake itself has a great texture, especially when hot off the press, gives has a soft, "eggy" souffle like consistency and as it cools it taste more like a cheesecake with a denser consistency. I had decided to treat myself to a cheesecake as it is one of my favorite desserts. My cousin had introduced me to Uncle Tetsu while I was visiting Canada and the cheesecake was light and fluffy and was straight out of the oven so it was still warm when we took a bite. I wanted to try the version in Irvine to see if it matched the quality in Canada. As I walked into the bakery, I noticed that the cheesecakes were not visible nor did it appear that any were being baked. I ordered the strawberry cheesecake and the staff went to the back to get one for me and it most likely came from the refrigerator since it was cold. It didn't affect the taste at all as the cheesecake was still light and fluffy and super tasty. But, it would have been even more amazing if it was fresh out of the oven. There are several flavors to choose from including pandan, Oreo, ube, matcha, chocolate, etc. The staff is super friendly and the price is very reasonable. Just note that the texture of these cheesecakes tend to be a fusion between the American one, and sort of a souffle. So, the cake is not TOO sweet and lighter in density. I came a little before they opened on a Sunday and there was already a few people waiting. I ended up getting the pandan, ube, and a traditional cheesecake. I like their traditional the most. But many of my family members liked the pandan. Uncle Tetsu also has seasonal flavors as well. When we came to the shop they were sampling out their pumpkin holiday flavor which I am not a fan of since I do not like pumpkin flavors. They also don't do mocha anymore as well. I found their cakes here to not be super jiggly and I wished it was a little more moist. Also the pandan and ube to me tasted a slightly artificial but they were still pretty good. But they are so affordable and my family ended up enjoying everything. When we came we also picked up some of their ube cheese tarts which was really good. Unfortunately for me they are in a plaza with one of the busiest parking lots that they share with Izakaya Hachi, Hashigo, Anjin, Capital Noodle Bar, 7 Leaves and Blue Bowl. Currently credit card only. Since I first discovered Uncle Tetsu years ago, they now have so many flavors. Each of these Cheesecakes are $12. On my visit they offered Original, Strawberry, Chocolate, Matcha, Coffee, Oreo, Ube and a seasonal Pandan Coconut that they had as a sample. All great flavors. I got my cousins the Original since they prefer the more classic flavors and I got myself a coffee. Yumm! I think the coffee is my favorite since I am a coffee fiend. So fluffy and so tasty. I've always loved this place so I knew this would be perfect for my sister's house blessing gathering. I won a cheesecake for their giveaway and I can't just have one, I decided to get another and they were so nice to also give me the seasonal flavor as well! Stop the presses, Uncle Tetsu is finally open in Orange County and man was I not disappointed when I went! I've been waiting so long for them to open a location in OC and they have finally done it! They had original cheesecake samples at the counter and since I went during their grand opening week, they were giving out a free ube tart with each purchase which blew my mind. The ube was so delicious and sweet. The crust on the tart was cooked just right and I ate it so fast haha. It's a must try for sure! I got the original and strawberry cheesecakes and both were fantastic and made just as well at their other locations. They aren't overly sweet and are very fluffy. I certainly don't feel guilty if I ate the whole thing so it's so light and not too heavy. I'm for sure coming back to get more cheesecakes and I'm so glad I don't have to drive all the way to Torrance to get some anymore!
