What a nightmare. After my car broke down in the middle of nowhere late on a Sunday night, I had to…read moreendure a cab driver who was unprofessional and confrontational. The dispatcher provided a quote over the phone of $180 but when the driver arrived he never turned on the meter and changed his rate quote and method of calculating the fair twice after I got in the vehicle. To make things worse, I was told that it would be a 20% additional charge to use a credit card on what was now a $200 fare. But wait, there's more! He then told me he didn't have any receipts so I was out of luck on that front. I told him that I wasn't going to pay $200 for a ride and an additional $40 to use a credit card without getting an itemized receipt in return. He said he would have to stop at his office in Winchester to get one if I absolutely insisted on it. I absolutely insisted on it. Instead of taking me to his office, he drove to some random hotel, went inside and got a business card, and told me I could write the amount charged on the card. The situation got so bad that I made him pull over and drop me off after only 30 miles into my 90 mile journey. He made me pay $80 and it felt like a ransom. Never again. I'd walk 100 miles in the rain before I got in a cab with this guy behind the wheel.
