Wow! No reviews since 2017. I was a member from 2017 to 2019. The only reason I stopped my…read moremembership was because I'm moving out of town. The instructors at Club KO genuinely care about the people in their class. They will politely correct form and also provide encouragement if they see the class struggling (they never single anyone out). As you walk in, the front desk is always friendly. The instructors (once they know you) will say hi as you walk in. The classes and their content vary based on day and time. If you're reading this and timid about your first class, here's how it will go: Show up 10-15 minutes before class. Be ready to sign a waiver. If you don't have gloves they will provide them for the first class. I'd recommend having your own wraps but I've seen them give latex gloves to people to wear in their gloves. Class starts with jump rope, and then it gets into boxing. You have one 5-minute break in the middle. You will sweat, you will get fit. I would recommend Club KO to anyone interested in getting fit or learning about boxing. And in case anyone is wondering, I've never seen anyone get hit in the head or the body in a class.

The coaches are very welcoming but will make you sweat! They will push you but you also have to push yourself. They have great group classes that are still pretty interactive despite it being a group vs one on one. And the one on one training session are extremely valuable and you will get worked!

I have been kickboxing for about 2 years now and I train with fighters in Atlanta. During this…read moreholiday break, I've come back home to San Antonio to be with family but really wanted to make sure I kept up with my endurance so that I don't lose it when I get back to GA. I am beyond excited that I found CKO because not only are their classes a full body workout but I'm actually doing a variety of exercises involving weights and conditioning that I've never done before. How incredibly fun! Members range from total beginners to advanced. I love that their facility is so clean - yes, ladies, including the bathrooms! Jae, the owner and instructor, creates a friendly yet challenging environment to make sure we get the full body workout we are looking for but have a blast while we are doing it! I have no doubt that CKO will keep the weight gain off me this holiday break so I can go enjoy without worry!!! You're missing out if you haven't signed up here yet. I'll be here all week because I'm already addicted. I'm relieved to find a place I can trust to get good training at during my visits home. Finally!! Bring your own gloves if you can. Wear tennis shoes and dress in comfortable active gym clothes. Throw on a headband if you've got one bc it's super helpful when you body decides to sweat like a maniac but you don't want your eyeballs to burn like a MF LOL

I've driven by the FREE FIRST WORKOUT signs for ages and finally signed up online for a class…read more Location was clean, instructor was peppy, but the first thing she said was, "Do you have gloves?" No, your email just said to wear gym clothes, and to bring water and a towel. "Well, you need gloves for the class. We have a pair for sale for $20!" Okay then, count me out. /Scene. Way to waste my time and gas! No mention was made of this requirement on the site or in any of the THREE emails I received. The confirmation message literally states, "all you need to do is show up before class starts and you're ready to go!" Either the person I encountered was trying to make a quick buck, or their setup is deliberately misleading so that you'll arrive pumped for a workout and just pay for the gloves so you don't miss out. I've taken kickboxing before and I'm particular about my instructors. I don't own my own gloves because I don't go consistently. Other gyms I've been to have loaner pairs specifically for first-timers, even if they do push for you to purchase. I'm not about to shell out $20 to participate in a free workout I don't even know if i'm going to return to. After my visit, someone called to schedule me (not realizing I'd been in), and didn't have anything to counter the points I brought up or explain why the gloves weren't mentioned, just kind of vaguely saying they're small so they don't have room for spare gloves? Kickboxing is a great workout, but the lack of customer service here is a turn off.

I heard of Rumble Boxing from a friend in NYC who was a member years ago. So, I was stoked to see a…read morelocation in the SA area since I've been missing boxing lately. This is structured as a boxing for fitness class, so you won't be expected to spar at any point, and no worries if you're nervous about coming in. The staff is incredibly friendly-- and it's not just one person; it's everyone I've interacted with so far. I've been to various gyms (CrossFit-esque, luxury/boutique, smaller/independent kickboxing). Still, I don't recall an instructor asking me on the first day of coming in about my personal goals and how they could help me attain them. They're also offering personal training if that's something that interests you. The facilities are immaculate and still in excellent condition, but they haven't been open that long. The room where classes are held is split in half: uppercut bags on one side and benches with weights on the other. Lockers are available along the wall near the entrance, and there is a water fountain if you bring a reusable water bottle. If you don't have the gear, no sweat. They've got some you can borrow, and if you decide to sign up, you can buy some gloves and quick wraps there. If you're new and unsure, I suggest you take an intro class and take advantage of the BOGO offer for first-timers. That way, you'd take three classes and choose the best plan for you.
