I find it hard to believe that a for profit care company, like Well Health, is allowed to operate…read moreunder the Canadian Health Act and I plan to complain until I put them out of business. The doctor I had for yearsretired and her patients were assigned to a doctor here. I have worked in doctor's offices and the only people more incompetent than the staff are the doctors. Staff (that they are inusufferably rude goes without saying): 1. They never answer the phones and their phone menu is long and incomprehensible. I have waitied for up to 3 hours and no one ever picked up. The only way to book an in person appointment is by going to the clinic, and the only availability is for a telephone appointment. When I finally did get an appointment during Covid I waited online in the office for 20 minutes, when I reached the rude receptionist, I was told I was 4 minutes late and I would have to reschedule. I thought she was joking, so I laughed, 'Next', was her reply! 2. They lost my chart, well, really only most of it, but it was probably in storage. They only had a month out 40 years. Hmmm and how is this storage area sorted? This is the kind of place that could forget someone in an exam room and find them dead the following week. 3. One question per appointment. They cut you off, if you try to skirt this rule. You can book online for telephone appointments. 4. The doctor assigned to me is appropriately named Dr.Ho. When I am lead to the examining, I pass Dr.Ho and more than once I have seen him playing a computer game. The other exam room is empty. Still I wait 20 minutes for him to walk 20 feet to my exam room. 5. The first time I met Dr.Ho, was following a trip to the emergency room. The results of my pain and subsequent scan had not yet been shared with me. I was discharged to my family doctor. I watched as he read through the report and pronounced "Oh my God it's huge," he held up his hands like he was holding a small watermelon and sort of grinned. I had no idea what he was talking about. "What's huge?" I said. "What is IT?" I asked. "Oh," he said distractly, as he continued to look at his screen. "I guess it's an ovarian tumor?" At that moment I wanted to get up and leave but I needed medication. I looked at him and said, "I know your pretty new, but you have to work on your bedside manner." He gave me a pain script and said to call if Cancer Canada didn't get in touch. I walked out in a daze, I didn't know what to think. Was I going to die? He gave me a script for over a hundred pain meds (wouldn't get away with that these days) and I waited. The good news it was benign, the bad news was that I spent 2 weeks in utter terror until I had surgery. I will outline the various problems I have had during my many telephone appointments: -Zero compassion and frequent scolding for trying to slip in one more thing. -Googling as you speak and not having a modicum of knowlege about basic things that even I, a civilian know about. -Failing to prepare for appointments, by reading notes ahead. -Being so stupid that he told me I had Somatoform Syndrome (his opinion) which is a psychiatric condition in which you invent symptoms, ya know, like heart attacks and multiple fractures because he refused to give me medicine for osteoporosis, despite my having been on it when I lived in the states. I've broken 12 bones in 2 years as a result. -Calling 3 metatarsal fractures midfoot, that kept me in a cast for 2 months, my broken toes. -Failure to refer, which I have only found out when I end up showing up for an appointment with a specialist. -Failure to call in prescriptions. Especially concerning when you have vivid pain such as a broken bone. Or telling you he can't give you any more pain pills and that I should try biofeedback. If someone has had success with biofeedback to treat the pain associated with a broken hip, I'd be shocked. I'm 66, if I was going to be a junkie I would have started earlier and I shouldn't have to beg when I hurt. -Failure to call on a scheduled appointment or, calling hours after the appointment. -Calling the next day, when you had an appointment the day before and then telling you it's your fault. Or better calling the next day when you spoke to him the day before and he didn't remember. -Reading his opinion directly from the Google page I already have up on my computer. I have lived in many countries, including this one before it was sold to the highest bidder. Build the infrastructure, ya know, like healthcare, before you invite the world to come. I can't tell you how many times I've been behind someone in emergency who is a sponsored grandmother, who has just arrived from India, speaks zero English and has never seen a doctor. As a former resident of the US, who always had very good insurance, which I paid dearly for, I defended Canadian Healthcare until I'm blue in the face. On my 65 birthday I received my Medicare card from the US, I guess I'll use it.

I went back in time and was taken in at 10:40. My hearing in my left ear was very poor and likely was a wax issue. Dr. Nicholas Steinberg saw me and confirmed minor wax in my right ear and wax blockage in my left ear. He offered two options and I chose flushing with water. Dr. Steinberg flushed out my left ear and removed all of the wax. My hearing was fully restored. He also gave me instructions to put oil in my right ear as he did not recommend flushing it because the amount of wax was small. I was very pleased with the friendly approach by the receptionist, getting a fairly quick appointment, the lady who showed me to the room and Dr. Steinberg. I will most certainly continue to use this clinic for drop in issues such as today's. Barry M.

Appointments have to be made online It's difficult to find contact info for specialists at the clinic. The staff are harried, over worked and under paid. Staff turnover is high, which may indicate a negative job experience for them. It's virtually impossible to get a face-to-face appointment The reception area feels like a hotel, not a medical clinic The care is uncaring, brusque, and perfunctory. There is no time for getting to know my "provider". I feel like a cog in a health care machine and miss the personal care I used to get from my doctor before he retired. And feel guilty for complainigg, because at least I have a doctor.

When I asked to look into my medical records to confirm a date for a medical test, her response was "I don't have time to read 100 pages". When asking her why I even had my records sent over, she answered "no, no more talking". When I told her I would like further clarification on the issue, she again shut me down and told me she would no longer see me as a doctor due to lack of communication. Absolutely appalling behaviour from a professional doctor. I wouldn't recommend her as a doctor, nor this clinic (the receptionist is equally as cold in her attitude) to anyone.

Beyond the fact that one can access gratis medical visits--thanks, Canada!--this clinic is a 'clean, well-lighted' & welcoming space for women from all social strata. My visit with the RN began ten minutes after my 10.30 appt. time. The client just before me had left at about a quarter past the hour. Be prepared to wait a bit, I guess. Not used to not having to pay for every little thing regarding health care, I was compelled to make a financial donation after my visit as both a thank-you & a way to support what is a very necessary women's institution. When I inquired, I was told that the collective would gladly accept a donation of women's clothing. Preferring to make a monetary donation, I was sent to chat with the clinic's director. PayPal would be the way to go, if one is so inclined.

If you're a woman looking for a walk-in clinic in the area, I highly recommend them.

Walking in to find the receptionist eating a sub sandwich. So, now we know two things. 1. Why no one answers the phone (it's not like sick people call here or anything), and 2. Why the place smells like a Subway rather than a clean medical clinic. Once she stopped chewing.....I asked to see a Dr. and she said they are at full capacity. Keep in mind that to my left their wait room had 1 person sitting on one of 10 dusty worn-out chairs in the so-called waiting area. I told her this is a walk-in clinic....the outside sign as well as your website says walk-ins welcome! She attempted to repeat herself and since I had no interest in wasting my time....I walked out. Hey!....this place turned a walk-in into a walk-out....wow....quite the accomplishment. Yeah....trust me....you don't wanna go here. Whatever you need to see a Dr. for....it deserves a clean, professional, caring and expert place..... This place is not it.

Now it has become a farce and it seems the doctor is more interested in running a skin care business. If you walk-in they tell you they close at 1pm or some bizarre hour, to come back at 8:30Am and there will be a lineup outside like India or something. When seeing the doctor his care seems distant and it is a business so you get five minutes. It is like you are a donut or something on the assembly line. Further I am not sure how much this doctor gives a hoot about patients now, follow-up is comical because he remembers nothing about you. Everything is off the notes about you. Referrals to a specialist from this place are so slow it's almost medieval like. There was a good receptionist but she seems to have left, replaced by those who really don't care and that is a big problem given things can really slip up here now !

My family doctor works there and given the fact that it's so difficult to find a GP, I'm stuck with it for now. The doctors that I've seen there have all been competent and attentive; that's not the issue. It's the medical system itself and the clinic's admin. The clinic itself leaves much to be desired. The waiting area can be best described as one you might have seen in Soviet Russia. I've always had difficulty getting through to make appointments on the phone, and when I finally get through, I have GREAT difficulty understanding what some of the receptionists are saying. When asked politely to slow down and speak louder, I've encountered attitude from some staff. Regina's attitude, accent and rapidity of speech is particularly poor; she doesn't listen and takes umbrage at being asked to repeat herself, speak slower, louder, etc. The rest of the staff at least tries. The admin is terrible; they seem disorganized and confused. I have to initiate follow up almost all the time, and they have very often dropped the ball on booking appts with specialists, etc. I've given the clinic 2 stars, rather than the zero I think it deserves, only because after I complained repeatedly about not being able to understand them, and expressed frustration to my doctor about support staff's inefficiency, they seemed to improve somewhat, although Regina's attitude still sucks. I've tried hard to connect with her as a human being to no avail. So I guess we have to complain and demand better service in order to have any improvement at all. So if you can, avoid this clinic.

When you go in bearing paperwork to get an xray done, they usher you into change rooms which (from having recently hung out in emergency at Van General) are super swanky for a medical facility. You get your own little change room, a bench to leave your things and a mirror so you can put yourself back together nicely (or take Instagram pictures in your awesome hospital gown...) The xray tech was super straight forward and speedy. Though, there was a whole, apron falling off/me awkwardly trying to adjust it while listening to instructions on how to do three things simultaneously while holding my breath... but the process was quick, painless and tops, 15 minutes total. The one thing I will say, is they don't really tell you what to do at the end. I didn't know if I had to sign something or submit a form and spent a good five minutes awkwardly hopping from foot to foot in the reception area before the tech noticed me and assured me I was done and could go. But like I said, xray newb so maybe this is the norm. All in all, pretty straight forward and painless 15 minutes at what could easily have been a stressful place.

However when I did finally see the doctor, she was very emphatic and seemed to take the time to hear my symptoms and concerns. It is only she who raised this one star experience to four. Here's why: I arrived at the stein walk in clinic on burrard to find no other people waiting. Filling out the most basic intake form ever I was made to show my care card even though she didn't even look at it. She then offered a 3pm appointment to which I replied that didn't work for me as I need to be in west van at 3:30pm. She then looked at the pathetic intake form and noted my care card number and suggested I walk to their OTHER location on Dunsmuir for a 1:10pm appointment. So I do. Upon arriving two people are there, fill forms and leave. I advise what the other person said and this gal tries to get me to re-complete said intake form. I ask that she call since it feels her approach is disbelief so she does and here I sit for the hour waiting. I checked out their website. They offer to *fast track* for $40 (?!!!) on their website to which I feel is poor personal taste. The front desk gal was dressed in a hockey jersey and seemed to lack medical professionalism in her manner and lack of attention. I didn't care she as wearing a jersey - go Canucks - I just wanted to feel better sooner and hopefully within my own time restraints. Not terribly optimistic at that point. Now seated in the patient room and it's very stark. Looks like prison met ikea on design. Very not-homy. After seeing the doctor etc it finally occurred to me unlike a usual clinic where all us sickies accumulate there in sight, this office lines patients up like ducks to be called back with approximate appointment times.
