I wasn't looking for a general wellness treatment. I needed someone who could actually target the areas that were giving me trouble. Then I found Derby, and she has been my saving grace. She is an excellent listener and really good at taking what I'm feeling and translating that into her treatment. I can walk in feeling restricted and uncomfortable and consistently leave with more range of motion, less discomfort, and just moving better. One of the things I appreciate most about Derby is how much she knows, but also that she never seems to stop learning. She has a huge amount of knowledge in Eastern medicine while also staying up to date on newer information and advancements in health and wellness. Being in the health field myself, I really appreciate a practitioner who continues to be curious and expand their knowledge. And beyond Derby herself, the whole office is just lovely. It is warm and welcoming, and her staff is always friendly and professional. Taking care of my own body allows me to keep doing the work I love, and Derby has become a really important part of that self care. I recommend her all the time, and I cannot recommend her or Derby Wellness Center enough.

I was fortunate enough to come across Adam and Acutonix seven years ago and I continue to visit him…read moreregularly. Having an advanced degree in science, I was hesitant to try acupuncture; however, I had immediate, positive results at the onset. I began using acupuncture for some swimming pool allergies and upon my first session my nasal passages opened up on the table and I've never looked back! I was skeptical when my athlete friends who also were also allergic to the pools we swam in told me that acupuncture cured them of their allergies. However, I felt that acupuncture was very noninvasive and it did not require any kind of medication, so I was on board to give it a try. Wow - was I so happy to be open minded about this traditional Chinese medicine! I also attribute acupuncture to increased performance enhancement in my swimming and running (I was a pervious masters swimming multiple world champion) - it has helped me in everything from visualization and meditation to healing rotator overuse symptoms, nerve pain and migraines (I never get migraines anymore!) I'm THRILLED to say that as an almost 50 year old woman I am on ZERO prescription medications - or even OTC meds. Adam is a wonderful, skilled, patient healer and once I found him, I have stuck with him. IMO, his pricing is reasonable, his office in Culver City is new, beautiful, and spacious, his staff is friendly, and scheduling is a breeze with the online option. Be sure to book in advance as his services are in high demand. I really rely on him to keep my mind and body in top shape! Thank you so much Adam and Acutonix!

Adam's calm and confident demeanor will immediately put you at ease and you will walk out of there feeling bewildered by how much better your body feels (and problably wish you had gone there sooner).

Yo San has changed dramatically…read more For many years, it was a truly special place, and I received excellent care from a number of practitioners there. Some wonderful practitioners remain, which makes what happened all the more disappointing. In over three decades as a patient, I never had a significant issue until recently, when I had an interaction with a practitioner that left me feeling genuinely unsafe and deeply unsettled. Had it ended there, I likely would have viewed it as an unfortunate but isolated experience. What shocked me was the response from management. Rather than approaching the situation with curiosity, balance, or a genuine effort to understand what occurred, I felt that my concerns were dismissed and the entire situation was reframed in a way that bore little resemblance to my experience. The Yo San I knew was built on principles of compassion, healing, self-reflection, and open communication. The institution's response to this situation felt inconsistent with those values. Patients should know that there are still talented practitioners at Yo San. However, my experience with management left me questioning whether the culture of the organization still reflects the principles that originally made it such a respected and unique place.

But somehow, amongst all the sound baths and crystal energy experiences, I happened to circumvent one of the oldest healing traditions known-- acupuncture. Luckily, I started at the right place: Pacific Coast Community Acupuncture. My first time walking through the door, I felt a wave of calm rush over me. Was it the soothing background music or the sight of a few people lying back on recliners with eyes closed? Whatever it was, I felt at ease. Dr. Craig Swogger welcomed me and soon I was telling him about my right-sided neck stiffness and stressful personal situation. He asked pointed questions about causation, visually inspected my tongue, and checked my pulse. His approach and demeanor built my confidence in the therapeutic relationship. I also felt a moment of welcome vulnerability and was open to his suggestions. He proposed a cocktail of acupuncture needles and cupping for the neck. While experiencing the needles enter various points in my body, I felt the tiniest pinch or nothing at all. Rarely, there were one or two points that struck a chord. "This can be a sore spot, so let me know and if it continues I can take it out, " Dr. Swogger said. I appreciated the comment, but I also appreciated the soreness so I stuck with it. And I've stuck with it ever since. Acupuncture may not be for everyone, but anyone who's willing would benefit to try. I still find great value in massages, yoga, and other modalities, but acupuncture adds a new wrinkle. More than the ability to let go, it awakens my need to connect. Connecting my ankle to my neck or my head to my heart. Finally, having a therapeutic guide like Dr. Swogger is fundamental in understanding that we're more than the tissues and tendons we've been told about.

I am deeply grateful to Dr. James Choi. After seeing many traditional Chinese medicine and…read moreacupuncture doctors, I can honestly say that Dr. Choi is different in the best possible way. Many clinics today can feel rushed and volume-driven. You often feel like the doctor is trying to see as many patients as possible, and each appointment becomes very quick and mechanical. With Dr. Choi, I never felt that way. He spends real time with his patients, listens carefully, asks detailed questions, and genuinely tries to understand what is happening in the body. You can feel that he deeply cares about the person in front of him, not just the appointment. What impressed me most is his combination of integrity, experience, and skill. He has more than 40 years of clinical experience, but he still treats each patient with patience and seriousness. He does not use a one-size-fits-all approach. He uses a Korean Four-Constitution / Sasang constitutional approach, and he also carefully studies the fingerprint patterns of all ten fingers as part of understanding a patient's individual constitution. From what I have researched, this approach is very special because it looks at the whole person, not just one symptom. A person with a "cold" constitution may need a very different treatment approach from someone with a "hot" constitution, and a yin-type body may respond differently from a yang-type body. Dr. Choi understands these differences and adjusts his treatment with great precision. My own experience has been very meaningful. I had numbness around one side of my mouth for about two years. After my first acupuncture treatment with Dr. Choi, I felt about 80% improvement. That result gave me a lot of hope. Since then, I have continued to feel that his treatment is not only based on strong technique, but also on a sincere desire to help the patient get better. I now drive almost two hours each way to see him, nearly four hours round trip. Even with that long drive, I still feel it is worth it, because it is very rare to meet a doctor who has both excellent medical skill and a truly caring heart. Dr. Choi represents what I believe a physician should be: honest, responsible, highly experienced, careful, patient, and deeply committed to healing. I am truly thankful for his help, and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a doctor who treats patients with both skill and integrity. D

Western doctors told me I simply had to 'live with it,' but I knew I couldn't. Finding Dr. Choi changed everything. After 3.5 years of struggling on my own, I have seen a complete turnaround in less than six months. His expertise, combined with his encouraging nature, gave me the strength to stay committed to my recovery. He is the real deal, and I am finally on a positive trajectory toward health. Thank you, Dr. Choi.
