The student union at UCF has gotten some major upgrades recently that I'm excited to highlight in this review! The first floor has a couple of newer dining editions, such as the small bento and the sandwich shop. The steak n' shake also implemented a half-off milkshake deal for their Friday happy hour. It is also home to the brand new Volunteerism and Community Engagement (VCE) space across from the police office. While this is nothing new, I've recently checked out the bike rentals, ticket center, and eyeglass shop. The prices are fantastic and great resources for students. They are also still hosting tours of the hydroponic structures around and throughout the building from the base of the stairs. On the second floor, the Pegasus penthouse is finally open! It's an arcade for students to enjoy games, air hockey, pool, or just hang out. They've also moved the MASS office into the main OSI space, the MSC into SG's old office, and SG onto the third floor. The booths that used to be for studying (or napping) have also been transformed into gaming havens with flat screen TVs elevated above the seating and tables for any students to use. It has definitely freed up the breezeway outside! Overall, I love the union as a space for cultural events, student pride, music, and more!

    The stage is set.

Somewhat difficult to find, but once found we knew what we were there for. No, I'm not a UCF student. I was at the Student union - a place to connect, to see the Vagina Monologues. A play being put on for V-day, a global movement to end violence against women. The play was being put on by the college and produced by a friend of mine. Since I support my friends, I was there. It was really well done, all the actors were a perfect fit for their roles. The student union itself was well laid out, with eateries in every area, the person heading the Help center was very friendly. All in all, this place looks like an area that the students of UCF are lucky to have.

A beautiful building on the outside, and a mini-city on the inside. The Student Union is literally the heart of the UCF campus being in the actual center of campus and also being a hub of everything at UCF. The Student Union has a few ways to get in, but the main entrance in the front is usually packed with students inside and out. Outside the main entrance usually sees booths and tables from vendors to clubs to people selling you things. Be prepared to be confronted by a lot of people in the front. Food - The Student Union has a lot of places to eat, and they very often change. Wackadoos is their main restaurant, but they have a ton of other fast food places to eat in their cafeteria, and around the whole building. I shutter to mention any other locations to eat here because they change so fast, but I do know that they will just keep expanding the food operations. As someone who was in the Student Union everyday, I got tired of the food fast, but nevertheless, the options are abundant. Room Space - UCF has a lot of clubs and organizations, and the Student Union is a big place where they come to meet and hold events. The Student Union is four floors, and three of those floors are for the general public (4th floor is for storage, maintenance, and such). This means a lot of room to hold major events such as speakers and ceremonies, and also small gatherings of clubs. They have board rooms for serious meetings and wide open rooms that can be setup any which way. They have a full catering options, and their event services are great at planning things out for you. Computer Labs/Free Printing - A few computer labs and free printing are some great services they offer here. Take advantage of these to save yourself the cost of ink and paper at home. Forewarning though, can get very crowded during peak hours, so plan in advance especially if you need to print something right before class, it may not happen. Ticket Office - Great place to get discount tickets on everything from Disney to the movies. Just make sure to come in advance, they run out of tickets for things like Disney, Islands of Adventure, and Universal Studios very fast. Rentals - If you need a tent to rent, or even just use a tape measure, they have it at the Union. You'll have to hand over your student ID until you return the item, but if you need something, the Student Union probably has it available to rent. They are a great resource for pretty much everything. Also, the Student Union does more than just the actually building itself, they are the hub for renting out other spaces on campus too. Just go and ask and they can assist you with most things. Student Government Association - The Student Union has the Student Government Association (SGA) office on the 2nd floor, which is very important to students for a number of reasons. First off, they give out free scantrons and blue books to all students, all you have to do is bring your student ID and they give you one per day, don't waste your money buying them at the UCF bookstore. Also, SGA also can give you money to go on conferences all over the world. Just fill out a form, and present to a committee and you get get a couple hundred dollars to travel and attend conferences. They also give out free stuff all the time. Staff - The staff here is extremely friendly and hard working. They go out of their way to constantly make the experience better and improve the events and the physical union itself. The Student Union also is comprised of a ton of students, so this is a great place to get a job. They run a smooth operation. From the people who run the Student Union, to the people who clean the floors, everyone here for the most part is an exemplary professional at what they do. Events - A ton of events get held here, orientations, events from the OSI agencies (Homecoming, CAB, etc), academic conferences, job fairs. Whatever you can think of, it most likely will happen in the Student Union. This can make the place very crowded at all time of the day, it's a very busy place. For my last years at UCF, the Student Union was 24/5, but now that may have changed. Either way, the Student Union itself is open for many hours of the day. Study Union - During finals week, the entire Student Union converts to a big study space. They give out a ton of free stuff, coffee, study sessions etc. Especially for finals, this is a great location to come and study while somewhat being stress free. Bottom line is, the Student Union is an area you'll probably be spending a lot of time in at UCF if you come to campus. It has food, study space, places to work, places to print, places to be social, and even places to sleep. Literally the Student Union is a place of endless possibilities, and if it doesn't have something you can think of, just go to the staff and my guess is they will make it happen. Almost forgot, no matter what, DO NOT STEP ON THE PEGASUS!!!

    Brand new Chili's!

The Union sits in the center of campus and has tons to offer. There are lots of meeting rooms on the second and third floors in addition to the larger banquet rooms on the main floor. There are several eateries at the Student Union: Chili's, Qdoba, Subway, Domino's are some of the big names but they're not all open during spring break or during the holidays. Student Government, Community support as well as the Activity & Service Fee Business are also here. There's so much here that there's a guest services desk which is open from 7AM - 6PM if you can't find what you're looking for. Great resource for UCF students.

UCF Student Union is such a beautiful, organized, and well equipped building. Is not the best place to study but for a group get together or group discussion, it's great! The building had four floors, fourth floor is closed off (I have no idea why...). The third floor has a study area, a study room among other thing and many tables all around among other things. The second floor has a computer room where you can print for free if you a students and many different offices for different services. the first floor has the main desk and many places to eat. Also, recently added a private study room and a prayer room. The food; they have a bar, pretzel place, a convenience store with sushi, an ice cream shop, a food court with other eateries, and more. You can even buy a beer. There's something for everyone; from healthy options to fish & chips to chinese food. One of the things I like is the smell that goes all around the student union when the ice cream place makes it's waffles. There are also many things offer here for students such as free printing, free scantrons, and microwaves. This building is so nice looking and later in the day they even blast music (not good for studying). They also hold small activities here like giving tickets away for example. Definitely one of the best places on campus!

Its location is pretty special. For being only a half hour from downtown Orlando, the nature surrounding the retreat center makes it feel like you've driven for hours outside of an urban area. And the small lake around Canterbury is a great backdrop, as well. The staff, in particular, make this place extra special. I'll point out Irene, Teri, Seth, and Michael -- all of whom were so kind and easy to work with. They flexed far beyond the limits of their job descriptions to make our stay perfect. Because of them, Canterbury feels more like a bed and breakfast than a retreat and conference center. Even Arnold, who heads up the sales side of things, was super accommodating -- particularly when it came to rates and adjusting to unforeseen changes. Overall, I'd strongly recommend Canterbury to anyone looking for a spiritual retreat or a place to host approximately 100 people or less.

Going 10 minutes in either direction will get you to all the shops and restaurants in the Waterford Lakes area or to UCF campus. The rooms are large and spacious and the bed is pretty comfortable. Hotel staff is also very courteous and professional. The cons: this hotel is definitely starting to feel dated and in need of a refresh and renovation. The rooms are starting to feel very dimly lit and the furniture and bathroom are starting to feel worn and antiquated. The dark carpets contribute to making the room seem even darker. I think if you are looking for a convenient location and decent comfort, this hotel fits the bill. But if you are looking for modern and luxurious, there are definitely better options to consider in the area.
