Any time we're on vacation without a car, the roommate and I always price compare when it comes to rideshare apps. On the way from dinner number one to dinner number two, we took Uber since it was cheaper. This happened on Sunday, December 9th at 8:39pm. We took an UberX from Casablanca Cigar Lounge on South Point Drive to Havana 1957 on Espanola Way. All for $6.62 plus a dollar tip. I was lucky as I had promotion for 30% off, so the ride itself ended up being $4.63 instead. The car fine. I don't actually remember it as this was a while back, so I'm guessing it was comfy and clean. I do remember not being dropped off exactly where I marked our destination, but it was close enough. This is a 3 star review because we had two Uber rides today and they were very different. This is the average of the 4 star and the 2 star experience. I'm no longer an Uber virgin! This was my first time taking Uber. My husband has used them on business in other cities and has an account already set up, but we've never used them locally. We were going to an outside event and weren't sure how crowded parking would be. So we drove to a nearby shopping mall and left our car there. On the way going to the event, the Uber car showed up immediately. But he didn't really know where he was going. Luckily we were early and left sufficient time for traffic. He was holding his phone in his hand while he drove and was looking down at it. This was a little nerve wracking to me. Plus although he was getting his directions in Spanish, I could understand them. They were telling him to turn right and instead he went left; turned before he actually should have, and then had us being dropped off at an incorrect location. We made him circle the block to drop us off at the right place. On the way back, the Uber driver came also within a minute or two. He had a bracket on his dash to hold his phone, so it was a much safer driving experience. His car was newer and more comfortable too. Now that I've taken my first ride, I can see me using this convenient service again in the future. And I can better understand why they are so popular. read more

So UNPROFESSIONAL , so rude!!! (Be on the lookout for this driver in Miami Florida) never using Uber again!! I know this isn't a big deal to most but it was a big deal to me. I am currently vacationing in Miami Florida and was trying to get back to my hotel so like most people do I ordered a Uber " my driver was so unprofessional and rude" first off I was waiting at my pickup location for 10 minutes but the driver was down the road and stopped at a totally different end of the street , wouldn't come to my exact location so I walked to him which wasn't a big deal . And even after I walk to his car (mind you it's humid in Miami ) the driver wouldn't unlock his doors for me and my family . With groceries and necessities for the hotel and all in our hands we wait for a second try and open his door again (because we had already paid for his service) and the guy waved his hand at us and canceled on us. I am very upset that he made us pay , walk to try and find him, and then right when we're about to get in he cancels on us. Didn't roll his window down or any kind of communication just straight cancelled. Now that I know this is a possibility I will be closing my Uber account. Man, did we contribute A LOT to Miami's Uber drivers! From MIA, to the Port, to the Everglades, to Aventura Mall, and up and down Miami Beach, it was well worth it as I hear it's a pain in the rear to find parking in Miami Beach. In addition to that obstacle, we're not familiar with the rules of parking such as apps that are available for payment, etc., so needless to say, we had a relaxing time commuting in the road rage capital of the world. All of our drivers were professional and friendly, sans for one driver that took us from the Everglades to Aventura Mall at a high rate of speed, jeopardizing our safety. GPS location was very accurate. FACT: Uber was not legally allowed to operate in the Miami-Dade area until around 2016. OVERALL: I'm still a fan of clean cars and more professional drivers. Just had a terrible experience. This driver should definitely be taken off the roads he will cost Uber a law suit and hopefully not an accident to a customer. Uber stated on the application that my driver was 3 mins away. The driver calls me and tells me that he is at the entrance and there is a lot of traffic. I tell him I was sitting at the entrance and will start walking to the car. He tells me if you are looking at your phone you will not see me. Welp to my knowledge I have to track him thru my phone, so yes I was looking at my phone. When I went to get in the car he took off and almost ran my feet over. This is not okay. I took a simple, uneventful ride from the car dealership, where I dropped my car to be serviced, to work. He did not answer phone or text, and then of course, l got charged for the ride. lt was nearly impossible to reach anyone, anybody at Uber to report this. After almost 2 dozen tries a "Support Expert" answered me via their app, to tell me that the charge was not for the most recent ride, but one from 11 months ago. l told him this was ridiculous and asked him to call me. Crickets. My CC company agreed with me and did not pay them. l also reported this as a theft to the attorney general. My main complaint is with the company, not any of their drivers. In Miami, at 10:40 pm, first week of December, Jacksene, PGWVV34, drove me from just over the Bridge into the first streets of Wynwood to Collins Ave at 16th St. There were 2 accidents. However, he navigated away and went fairly quickly another way back to the beach which I appreciated. Unfortunately however, Jacksene/Uber charged me a 2.6 Surge fee, making the trip cost me $59!!!! Plus a 15% tip, it was $67. HOW ENRAGING! I wasn't aware of Uber's surge policy. I WILL NEVER TAKE AN UBER AGAIN. (Esp. not solo) I will take LYFT or VIA or anything else possible. BEWARE!! Terrible recent experience with Uber. A friend and I booked a car for what should have been a 15 minute drive. After realizing we were headed north on I95 and way out of the way, I asked the driver to look at his directions. He pulled over and I pulled up directions on my phone (which he asked me to see). Then had to head south on I95 in worst traffic jam. Arrived 25 minutes late for a promo tour...organizers calling me to say they had to depart. Got in touch with customer service and all they would do was refund a small amount of the fee. While on vacation in Ft. Lauderdale for Christmas 2018, we ordered Uber to take us to Dania Beach. Great driver Ghassan was very nice and friendly. I even tipped him a nice tip. We needed a ride back to our hotel. I scheduled an Uber ride. The driver map showed Jorge was on the way and 2 minutes away. Then Jorge cancelled and I was charged a $6 cancelle fee. For those folks interested in driving for Uber DONT it's just not worth it! Was doing it on the side to help pay for my schooling. First, if you do the math to run an SUV ( fuel, deprecation, maintenance) it will cost $1.00 a minute! Second you spend most of your time in Miami traffic. The driver has submitted a claim for $150 through the app. After calling him through the Lost Item option on the app and confronting him about it, he claims he has no idea what I'm talking about and that he's "too busy" for this. His claims are false and fraudulent, and I will NOT be held liable for a fraudulent scam. I will be reporting this company and your driver to the police for fraud. I will also report you to the Better Business Bureau and raise hell on any and every social media site known to mankind. Every Greenlight location in the state of Florida will have a detailed review on how your team allows drivers to scam riders. I have found the driver on Facebook and am now armed to go to the police with his full name and license plate. If your team pushes this fraudulent charge through on my card, be prepared to face legal action. Please note that I have not one, but TWO other witnesses who were with me in the car that can attest to there being no mess left behind in that man's vehicle. Yesterday I requested an Uber. I was on the corner of Pennsylvania and Lincoln Ave. in Miami Beach, FL. When the app told me my driver arrived it showed he was on Euclid Ave. I was nowhere near Euclid. My driver cancelled the trip and I got charged a cancellation fee. We generally are happy with Uber in D.C. however in Miami it is a disaster. The drivers don't speak (or read) English. So if you are on a different side of a large hotel don't expect them to be able to read your text or answer your call letting them know where you are. And you will be charged a late fee even if you're waiting for them. One of our non English speaking drivers was lost and couldn't find the Perez Museum of Art and wanted to leave us off on an exit ramp to the highway pointing to the Museum because he was lost and had missed the exit was headed back to Miami Beach. I told him we couldn't get out there, on the highway. So he had to take the Bridge back to where we came from and then back again to the Museum which he finally located. Finally don't expect to be able to talk with anyone or email either to Customer Support at Uber because there is no email address and no customer Support line. I had to get Amex involved to help resolve being charged several times for a ride (and got a quick response from Uber then saying they were sorry but there was a technical issue). Lyft is much better; higher percentage of friendly drivers ... many of whom have the good grace to ask what music you'd like to hear. Am in an Uber now in which I've tried multiple times to make polite conversation. He's been periodically talking on phone or playing radio tuned to talk show in Haitian-Creole. At one point I said "wow, they sound angry about something." He said it was the tax law changes and kept the station on at full volume. Very stressful to listen to. Two things you need to know about Uber Miami drivers. One - they can't understand the "complexity" of the Port of Miami. What a great find! I first heard about Uber from a friend back in California, and with all the raves, I was curious. Then I read Blue's review and I realized that Yelpers were onto this taxi alternative. I had originally tried to use Uber a couple months ago with the Pairings event, and darn if my phone didn't bug out on me. Fast forward a couple months later, and I have my new phone! YAY. I got Uber working and yesterday, I finally got to try them out. A fellow Yelper had posted her discount code on the talk thread and I used it for a $30 discount on my first ride. Basically, I got a free ride for an 18 mile trip! AWESOME! After the event we were still running around town going to different after party spots, and decided to use Uber to our next spot. I put in the information, and clicked to request an Uber, and a split second later, the driver was calling me from outside. They have so many drivers...no waiting, no hassle. No cash worries. It's all set up in advance. It's a great peace of mind for this kind of thing. I didn't have to worry about parking, and how we would get home later. The cars are clean too. We scored on our first trip as we got to ride to the event in a Cadillac Escalade. It was a smooth ride, and the driver, Pierre was such a cool guy. Our second driver was Jake, and he was great as well. Although this time it was a regular 4 door sedan, it was still a clean comfortable ride. Later, our ride home also a 4 door sedan, arrived in seconds after requesting, and ditto. Great driver, Richard, and clean, comfortable ride home safely with no stress of paying the fare or giving directions...The GPS tracked the whole trip. Another cool feature is you can check your rides and get the detail of every trip, with receipts, mileage, driver information and the mapped route. When I saw how little I paid for the trip home, I wanted to cheer. There aren't a lot of deals like this where I am completely satisfied with every detail of service and product, and at the same time thrilled at the price. Love Uber. We took it all around the FTL and Miami area this weekend during Yelp Spring Break. Only had 1 bad experience and it wasn't entirely BAD, it's just that the driver was a bit old ... some actual quotes: "You guys Italian?" (my roommate, who was in the car, is Chinese ...) "Women go everywhere nowadays, you know? It's great you aren't afraid to travel by yourselves." (we had been talking about him running out of gas, so I joked that for a discount we'd be happy to get out and help push the car) "Oh, you MUST be Jewish then!" (and I am, so that was pretty insulting ... kinda wish I gave him 3 stars now instead of 4 out of 5.) Like I said though, that's the minority. The Uber driver who picked me up from FLL had cold water and candy for me which was fantastic, and most of the drivers made great conversation with us. Most were FL natives but I met some from Peru (wow!), NYC, and other places. I've taken Uber in San Fran, Detroit, Nashville, and other cities and now Fort Lauderdale, and I prefer it to Lyft overall - the fare split thing is fantastic. The only thing I wish they did was post pics of the cars - they've been doing that more often than before, but Lyft still has the advantage there. I will continue to ride with Uber! read more

I used this new deal yesterday & saved compared to their regular carpool price. Always verify the information to know when your Uber ride has arrived / for your protection. Besides that there is a picture of your driver. Its ideal because you don't have to worry about parking. Quick service, the only times it may delay is when choosing "Car Pool" which is the economical option where you may share the ride with other passengers. Ideal if you don't have a car around and is easier to request than a taxi from your smart phone. Quicker than a bus and much better than walking. Tip isn't required, you may tip cash if preferred.
