We are BECU members (live near Seattle, WA) and were happy to find this credit union…read more(surcharge-free ATM!) in South Lake Tahoe. We arrived a little while before they opened so we just used the ATM. Why 5 stars? The ATM was even easier-to-use than BECU's!

The people that work in the local branch are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, the online…read morebanking has developed an issue that is making it impossible to pay bills through the bill pay or even get into bill pay. First it was an issue getting into bill pay in Chrome. Customer service said they've been having problems with it, but their only solution was to use Safari. So I started using Safari and then the same issue came up. The issue Click on Bill Pay and this notice comes up: Cookies are blocked. We noticed your browser doesn't allow cookies. To access Bill Pay, you must change your browser settings. After you complete your changes, close your browser, reopen it, and sign in again. If only that were true. I made sure both Chrome and Safari are set up to allow cookies and pop ups. Then I closed the browsers, reopened the website and signed in. Still the notice came up and wouldn't let me into Bill Pay. I called Sierra Central a second time, when Safari had the cookie issue. The customer service person knew nothing about the issue. She had no idea that it was an issue that a lot of people have been having. At least the agent who I talked to first, about Chrome and the cookies, knew it had been an issue. So, not only has the issue not been solved, it's spread to Safari. So as a quick fix, I set up online pay on each of the websites I do business with (credit cards etc...) If this issue isn't solved soon, I'll need to change banks (or credit unions).

South Lake Tahoe Family Resource Center - Wednesday, April 3, 2019: main office.

I went to this non-profit center and food bank Wednesday, April 3, 2019. This building is located…read morenext to a school. They have small parking a lot (no handicapped spaces, by the way), which was full because one car was not parked correctly and took up two spaces. I saw someone else access the place by pulling by the center using the school parking, but there is a sign it is only for school personnel during the day, so I was weary of that. Instead, I parked on the street, which was a little difficult, since there are like literally 10 feet piles of snow still in South Lake Tahoe, even though it was April! WTF? I used to live in the snow-belt of upstate New York, and by April there was only a little bit of snow. When I went in, the office was empty, as they were having a meeting in the backroom. A lower-ranking worker, who was outside bringing in the pallets of food, was nice, telling me to go to the back room, and also apologizing for blocking the entry way. He also sneaked me extra bread at the end. The other employee who came out of the meeting was super friendly, and showed me what to do. It is very informal there. There was no line. You just walk in and you can take one pre-made bag of commodities, and whatever bread and other items they have on the shelf by the kitchen. There are no forms or verifications required. Their website said they only had USDA commodities (food) beginning on the second Friday of the month until they run out, but I guess they must have changed that. In the office there were all kinds of brochures about other services offered in the community. This location also offers English language classes, parenting classes, and a clothing bank, and runs a used book store called The Bookworks, at the mall in South Lake Tahoe. My review of the book store is here: https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-bookworks-south-lake-tahoe?hrid=h23ePkYKh3Yz-GQmJnytEg&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct). I will give them four stars, only due to the parking situation.
