Looked great, but prawns were the only nice thing about it. Calamari was hit and miss with half being way too chewy. The salad was bland, where too much oil and raw onion was overwhelming. The prawns were amazing. Saved my last one for last as it was the only thing done right and containing salt! They say they are the best falafel in town, buuut, Dr. Falafel in naschmarkt is pretty amazing. This will need to be tested! Next time... Too hot to enjoy a warm meal. One thing I don't understand about some businesses in Vienna, including this one, is that they charge for tap water. It's summer, hot as hell, and I'm supposed to pay a euro for water? 1 star lost for the principle.

Waow, the food was so good and the portions so generous i simply LOVED it!…read more The falafels are definetely delicious, but the rest of their oriental menu is very tasty as well! The pitas, humus, tsatziki, salats, meat and co are as good as you can dream of... don't forget trying the mango lassi! And if you choose one of their home-made burgers, the chicken's or the vegetarian's ones, you won't be disappointed either! They also propose a weekly menu you will be enthusiastic about! You can check it online. and if you don't have time to enjoy their friendly company, you can have take-away! I'll definitely be back, and take my food lover of a brother with me!!

We ended up going here each day for lunch and each time it was awfully tasty! Thanks guys for the wonderful sauces and hot sandwiches that go great for any tourist or local passing by!

Maschu makes my belly very happy. From the hummus and pita bread, to a plate full of falafels or…read more(my favorite) wraps, the portions are really generous, and you won't walk away still hungry. Not a huge selection of items, but what they do have is very filling, and includes different sauces to spice it up, if you like. The drinks menu, though, is pretty extensive. (I was overjoyed to find that they had Malibu.) Tasty selection of Israeli wine, as well as a fantastic hot chocolate with rum for cold days. Downsides: There's little room to sit inside, which discourages big groups. Not a problem in summer, though, since they set up tables on the sidewalk. The service is another story. The servers tend to push by without apology and can be unfriendly and impatient. But I go to Maschu for the food, not to chat up the waiter, so this doesn't bother me. This is only the servers - the two guys who cook and work behind the counter (one also sometimes serves) are always friendly and quick to laugh. I DO go to chat with them. :) Also, watch the prices: The menu items on the Neubaugasse site can sometimes be a few more euros than the same items at the Schwedenplatz location.

4.5 Stars and two thumbs up. Who says that there are no good Italian restaurants in Vienna that…read moreprepare fresh pasta! As the devil is in the detail, I am not giving Mario a 5 star rating, due to several flaws I found in the dishes (they were still great but since it is a pricey place, everything has to be absolutely perfect for a 5 star review). Let's start from the beginning: - Bread and olive oil tapenade. The bread is a kind of focaccia, served warm and delicious. The tapenade has a delicate olive flavor with a note of acidity. Very nice! - Tuna tartare - with avocado base. 3.5-4 stars. This is the dish that needs to improve in order for Mario to score a solid 5 star rating. The tuna was not bursting with color and it looked tired. The preparation is simple, although with a better grade tuna this dish could be tremendously improved. - Beef tartare - very good. The quality of meat is excellent and the overall execution of the dish is very good. I like the chili peppers on top, which definitely kick it up a notch. So far, I would rate this the second best beef tartare in Vienna, right after Le Salzgries. - Ravioli stuffed with ricotta in a sage-butter sauce. Very good to excellent. A solid 5 star dish - simple and not pretentious but very delicious. - Spaghetti Bolognese - made with veal. Excellent. The spaghetti are also freshly made and combined with an exquisite bolognese sauce, create a culinary symphony. 5 stars. - Gnocchi - with shrimps, spinach and vegetables in a curry sauce. Interesting dish. Not your typical Italian go to item on the menu but definitely worth a try. Gnocchi were cooked al-dents and that made all the difference in the world. The service is also very good and I will definitely be back!

As oppose to another earlier review, I find it surprisingly quiet given the traffic passing the terraces on two sides. If you did not make a reservation though, you might find yourself sitting very close, sometimes even almost at another party's table. Mario's plate and the Vital plate for breakfast provide you with a delicious overview of what breakfast should be. My favorite Bfst. is scrambled eggs with either ginger tomatoes or Prochutto with Grana. Everything on the menu is available as a side dish as well. Whenever you have the choice of pastry, check out the homemade wholewheat bread. Mario's Best Coffee @ Best Price in Hietzing policy: Being a Coffee junky, this is exactly what I need for breakfast. Espresso / Espresso doppio / Macchiato / Cappuccino / Melange, all at €1.10 per coffee. This policy is valid Monday's through Friday's from 8am to 10:30am and weekends from 8am to 11:30am.
