Washington Rock Park is more of a scenic overlook than it is a park and unfortunately you're not…read moregonna find any Hiking Trails or outdoor Picnic Areas with Grills anywhere near here, but it is still a pretty cool Historic New Jersey Landmark plus it was an important part of the Revolutionary War.     In May of 1777 this mountain overlook provided General George Washington's Army a vantage point in order to see the British encampments below which solidified an edge for any future troop engagements.    Long story short, the mountain's sheer height and location made it the perfect observation site and natural defensible fort. Definitely worth checking out if you ever find yourself in this immediate area. Come And Get Your History On!!

Also, have kids wear water shoes because the ground is hot. The splash pad consists of 10 or so (very little) jets of water, just enough for the little ones to get wet. Public bathrooms available. I believe the splash pad water starts at 11:00 a.m. When we were there there was an ice cream truck so make sure to bring cash just in case.

Sometimes the best date nights don't require anything fancy, just good company, fresh air, and a chance to slow down. The park is beautiful, clean, and incredibly well maintained. There are plenty of paved walking trails, wide open green spaces, and lots of room to relax, whether you're taking a stroll, having a picnic, or just enjoying the scenery. It's easy to see why so many people come here to walk, bike, run, and spend time with family and friends.

There's a smaller section for small toddlers (smaller slides, a little house attached to it, etc.) and also a larger section for kids 5+ (larger slides, balance ropes, etc.). Both sections have some overhead coverage but the park itself is not shaded. There's also a separate area where the swings are and also a climbing rock/boulder. There's basketball courts adjacent to the kids playground and a good amount of parking. It's definitely one of the cleaner and newer parks around and would definitely recommend checking it out.

There's basketball courts here as well as three public tennis courts. There's a baseball field to another side of it as well where a lot of elementary and other teams come to play. The Warren library and police station is right next to this playground so it's safe and after a nice day out you can go to the library to exercise your brain. There are port a potties to the side of the playground. No water fountains so bring your own water and snacks. Dispose of your own garbage as well. There's a small pagoda (?) as well to sit under the shade during hot days. But there's also a lot of big trees around that shade the benches strewn around. There's an open building with picnic tables underneath in case you decide to have a meet and greet with friends or families. Or a birthday party for kids. Great place to take kids to, or play basketball/tennis with friends, or just sit and relax and have a picnic.

I took my 3-year old niece and she really enjoyed it. The highlights for us were the taxidermy animals (beautifully laid out in a tree and landscape that spans all 3 floors of the museum), the live animals (fish, turtles, snakes), and a short film/experience about nighttime noises and animals. There were a lot of things to touch and open -- good for the little kids, and the older kids will get more from reading through the exhibit signs. No food or drinks are allowed in the museum. However, there are a ton of picnic tables right outside so that could be a good place to enjoy a snack or lunch from home. There's also a short sensory walk through the woods (0.8 miles) that begins right outside the science center.

I liked the night theater, particularly love how it wasn't a screen but still entertaining and educational. Afterwards we strolled along the nature trail and checked out the sensory garden. This truly is a place for all to enjoy...and learn! Bonus: admission is free, bathrooms are clean and parking is plentiful. Had it not been so muggy out, we would've checked out more of the grounds as it seems there were more playgrounds to explore.

But if you want solitude you will find it here, I saw no other humans here.. only deer tracks
