The prices are fair and the staff was great. The shop owner gave us a couple of recommendations for Nanaimo.

I only had a limited amount of time in the area and wanted to find a boutique with locally made artisan pieces from and was lucky to find this one in one of the travel guides at my hotel. I picked up a few different items, a small bird made from re-purposed metal, a lovely necklace, a stylish cell phone holder, and some special sea salt. So much fun. I'll be back for sure the next time I'm in the area!

What a beautiful gallery it is! You immediately feel as though you're in someone's home with a fireplace and walk down sitting area. The log beams are exposed and creates a warm welcoming space. Roy Vickers is a local artist whose beautiful screen prints are on display and beneath each print is a short story. Vickers is a talented artist who captures the spirit of coastal living on Tofino and surrounding areas. You'll be drawn to the bright colours, soothing images of mountains, eagles, the ocean and use of Indigenous symbolism in backgrounds will have you in awe.

This place packs an astonishing variety of goodies into a remarkably small space, and the stuff they sell is really nice. Lots of it is locally made, including designs by local artists. I just marvelled at the taste, quality, and selection. It's almost a place that you could walk into blindfolded, pick something up at random, and it would be very appealing (at least to me). And, unlike the shops in Vancouver Airport or Toronto Pearson, the goods aren't ludicrously overpriced. The clerk was also vary patient with us as we wandered around the shop, poking and prodding at things, and piling our choices on the counter. I could almost say that it's worth going to Comox just to shop here, but there are so many other things to do and see in the area that that wouldn't be quite fair.

Really neat experience to see wild birds up close & great gift shop with the proceeds going to the…read morecentre. This is a rescue, rehabilitate and release centre - with their main goal to return the birds and any other creatures they rescue to the wild. There are some that they do not release due to the extent of their injuries. We booked the tour online the day before (this was October so I think we got lucky) and got to see the animals up close with a guide. You can visit the centre anytime during business hours but I highly recommend booking a tour if you can do you can get more behind the scenes time. The tours run Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays I believe. The tours are free but they suggest $5 min donation per person. The tour was about 1 hr 15 min but we spent another 1/2 hr in the centre, lots of great information and interactive displays for kids. The volunteers are knowledgeable and kind. A great stop; awesome people doing awesome things for wildlife.
